“Routine is everything for me because boxing is very much driven by routine. It requires a certain kind of discipline to become a great boxer,” says Alvarez, who wakes up at 6 a.m., trains for two hours, eats a lean breakfast, takes a quick power nap, and trains for another three hours. “I’m very disciplined about my diet when I train. I only eat lean proteins and veggies, like salmon and veggies.” Part of the afternoon is also spent working out strategies for the next fight.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic because they're are TONS of athletes testing positive over this very thing. Anyone who reads sports news has seen it. The NFL even issued a memo to players about eating meat while in Mexico. That's how bad it is.
pure nonsense. there haven't been "tons" of athletes popping dirty for this.
what is your definiton for "tons"?
in boxing only cases brought up are erik morales (clen), francisco vargas (clen), luis nery (zilpaterol) and now canelo (clen).
4 cases in the span of almost a decade is not "tons".
then you might bring up the soccer case. from fckn 2011!! then you'll bring up ONE player from the NFL. is he the only NFL player eating beef in mexico?
and again if this problem is so widespread and so many know about it that even makes canelo more GUILTY. so your argument hurts him actually. wtf is that idiot doing eating meat in a highly contaminated area? ignorance or stupidity. doesn't matter.
there was a baseball player that popped for clen and was suspended 50 games even though he proved he got it from an over the counter cold medication.
now the question is how have so many HUNDREDS of mexican fighters managed to never pop for clen?
this damn excuse has been abused too much.
If Canelo is not asked to provide proof of this tainted meat then hes a doper. it could also be a case of the clen just getting out his sytem and thats why its so low. if he consumed it that means he ate this tainted meat 1-2 days before testing. where did he buy the meat? what restaurant? show receipts. have the meat from this place tested.
to just blindly accept the tainted meat story is irresponsible. when that cyclist contador popped for clen they made him provide all this info about where he got it. but here we see the WBC and WBA screaming canelos innocence before any investigation is conducted.
that is called corruption at its finest.
So should everyone be allowed to use "I WAS IN MEXICO" excuse if they test positive for clen? Why even test Mexicans for it, then?
an nfl player was given a pass and he was only a week in the country, but you got a good point, mexicans have different standards on this issue and they are all getting a pass here, luis nery just got a pass less than a month ago, and now canelo, they need to come up with a better solution than that, i agree on it.. even if they get a pass and the levels prove to be the meat somehow, at the very least there should be a penalty for negligence...
this also happened to the mexican team , the pro one , at a different stage before entering the gold cup...
clenbuterol is a real issue and is not just on taco stands, its not everywhere, but it could be anywhere...

Odd how the Mexican team knew about the issue, so they didn't eat beef.
Also what options do semi-pros have of checking the food?
They don't have huge teams just for that, unlike Clenelo.

chepo reynoso used to be a butcher! so why is he allowing canelo to meat contaminated meat?
That tainted meat thing is an outdated excuse. This is Canelo biggest fight or his career, they are suppose to be an A-class team and like you pointed out his trainer was a former butcher, along with the fact that everyone knows about Mexico's tainted meat stuff........all this leads me to believe that this isn't an isolated incident. Its definitely not an unintentional thing, we have two months to go before the fight, which also makes me question if this was been used just for weight loss only.
Tests in Germany after the tournament revealed players from 19
of the 24 teams had adverse findings of the banned anabolic agent
in 109 of 208 urine samples.
FIFA medical officer Jiri Dvorak called the results ”highly
surprising” but insisted that teenage soccer players were not
cheating.
”It is not a problem of doping, but a problem of public
health,” Dvorak told reporters, adding that none of the players
were harmed or put in any danger.
FIFA and the World Anti-Doping Agency declined to prosecute any
cases because the weight of evidence pointed to contamination.
Mexican authorities have acknowledged the country has issues
with feeding banned steroids to livestock.
”It’s extremely serious for WADA,” Olivier Niggli, the
anti-doping watchdog’s legal director, said on a conference call.
”Now it’s known it’s an issue, warnings are going to be
sent.”

thats 109 players out of 208 that were tested, i guess they all ate at the same taco stand or they are all cheaters doe...

If you do a search and don't discover a plethora of info about "clenbuterol meat Mexico" (search those terms) then you are simply ignoring the truth and seeing what you want to see. I've been very familiar with this problem long before Canelo tested positive.
Yeah, still no plethora but I actually get what you're saying. It is a known fact about the contaminated meat in Mexico. The problem is, it seem to be a "get of jail card" for some athletes. It's one thing if you're a visiting athlete to the country. However, if you're from the country and an athlete subject to random drug test you would think you would be aware of the problem and take more precautions. I think most people are a little skeptical of that excuse, especially coming from an athlete on Canelo's level. I also don't think boxing fans are morons for not blindingly accepting his excuse.
With that being said, I don't rule out that it could possibly be an innocent mistake on Canelo's part. But the fact that there's a failed test is enough to ensure there's controversy if Canelo wins.
Canelo has agreed to be tested as often as anyone wants to test him. Regardless if he cheated or just ate bad meat by mistake if he tests clean from now on wouldn't the fight be on an an even playing field if he is completely clean for two months? I may be selfish but I would rather see the rematch between two boxers with no PEDs in their system at fight time than see Canelo punished and the fight called off possibly for ever.
Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic. I haven't heard of TONs of athletes testing positive for it. TONS??? Really? Are YOU being sarcastic? I just did a a google search just for giggles and all I saw was the NFL warning in 2016, the cyclist from 2010, and mostly Canelo stories. It just doesn't seem plausible that is such a rampant occurrence when all I'm seeing are a few cases.

If it's such a big problem why don't we get more athletes testing positive for it? Also, shouldn't there be a loophole for tainted meat?
If tainted meat is an acceptable excuse, we shouldn't even hear about Canelo or anyone failing a test for this substance and if we do then it should be cleared up immediately. Now we have a cloud hanging over the fight so if Canelo does get a KO stoppage everyone will automatically assume it was because of PEDs.

Boxing fans are such idiots... You don't seem to understand that meats, like beef, can be lean. Even pork (which can be very lean) often contains clen. Only people who don't understand anything about nutrition think that "lean proteins" means no red meat or pork.
Most of you clowns don't even read ingredient labels or understand what you're reading, but you'll jump on a guy over not expecting his food to have steroids in it.

Very interesting🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
didn't most countries outlawed the stuff though
Yes, including Mexico. But, the farmers still use it because the competition for lean beef is high.
Many substances are prohibited by the USDA in the US but still make it into supplements. Combat sports athletes have failed tests and subsequently proved it was because the supplements were spiked.
People want to make this black and white. They can't wrap their heads around grey areas.
