Ortiz was considered by many to be the Boogeyman man of the division. He is a skilled south paw with good counter punching ability and pretty good defense but he doesn't really do anything at the elite level. There were many people picking him to beat Wilder but looking at his past few fights before Wilder it was clear as day that he was tailor made for Wilder. He was old, slow, reflexes were kind of shot, and he didn't push the pace and cut off the ring against Wilder like he was supposed too. Even looking back at his past fights, when he was younger, nothing screams "elite or A-level" When I think of A-level fighters I think of guys like Brook, Thurman, Spence, Crawford, Danny, Mikey, Loma, Rigo, Usyk, Jacobs, Lara, GGG, Wilder, Joshua, Fury, and Canelo. I don't think Ortiz is on the level as those guys I mentioned. He is basically on the level of a Felix Diaz or Lamont Peterson. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Black pride? Lol... AJ is black too. I like both of them. I prefer Wilder to AJ because of the undue hate the former gets. Wilder showed a lot of tactical awareness - unfortunately you don't see that. Spend sometime watching Wilder's fight and see the little things he does to avoid getting hit or to setup his opponents. Maybe then you will see the things I see. If not, oh well...
Ok, Sambo........
He has no tactical awareness. If he did, he wouldn't be getting out boxed by guys like Spilka, Washington, and Ortiz. AJ whethered the storm against a much better fighter and I am confident that, that Wlad from AJ fight would've beaten Wilder. I'm happy Wilder was able to beat Ortiz but please don't make up shot just to prop him up. This black pride thing is getting out of hand

His speed, movement, tactical awareness, athleticism, ability to fight on the backfoot. Couple these with his patience, ability to weather the storm and keep his cool, court awareness during the 7th round, etc. AJ has superiority from a technique standpoint - saying otherwise will be lying. But it is the integration of all these things, i.e., tangible and intangibles, that leads to success in the ring.

well what is elite to you ?
You think wilder defeats m. Tyson.
ortiz is arguably the most dangerous southpaw to ever box at hw _
wilder was on the verge to getting stopped in the 7th , surely you have to give your definition of elite bc how you come across doesn't add up .
No offence but im still not sure this is still a serious poster on here ? :feedback:
stop it. Not even close.
Of course he's B level. He wouldn't be top 100 p4p, lost 5 times to solis, his best win is Bryant jennings and he is 38 at the very youngest. Can wilder fans please stop making out he just beat prime Lennox Lewis or some ****. It was a solid win but nowhere near what it's being made out to be.
He struggled with a guy 7 years his senior and people are hyping this win like it's so great. When tyson fought past prime holmes who was 36 he ended him in 2 rds.
What other real tools do he bring outside of right hand? In Ortiz's fight I did not see that many tools

Guess we can agree to disagree on that. I don't think the Wlad that fought AJ was any special. I think he was grossly diminished and I believe it is the hype to make AJ's win look special that we have been hearing. I was not impressed with anything he did for the past 2 - 3 years before that fight, that fight included.
I also don't see Wlad beating Wilder - but again, we can agree to disagree on that. AJ is more technically skilled fighter. He is not more overall skilled than Wilder. Wilder brings more tools to the table than AJ.

Aj beat Wlad who looked really good. I do not think that Wilder beats the Wlad that AJ fought. Aj has a better resume and is the more skilled fighter imo.

I'd place Ortiz on the same level as Povetkin and Parker, genuine contender level in a weak division where guys like Wilder and AJ are marginally better.
Using the formula that AJ and Wilder are A level (ridiculous i know) the Ortiz is a B plus.
So, you are saying Wilder gets promoted to A-level when he beats AJ but AJ is already A-level without beating Wilder? Interesting logic.

Not necessarily. Foreman destroyed Frazier and I would personally consider them both to be A plus fighters.

I think Ortiz beats MOST in the Heavyweight Division STILL despite his age. Put Whyte in with him I think he destroys Whyte! Him vs Povetkin would be good also!
So, for these delusional AJ fans, when (not if) Wilder beats AJ, since you are calling AJ an A-level fighter, will that then make Wilder an A+ level fighter or will that now downgrade AJ to a B+/A- level fighter. Just want to understand your logic... if you even have one.

I get your point but I don't think you are giving AJ his just due. Yeah young Foreman was probably a little more technical but he didn't throw fast accurate combos like Joshua does.
He didn’t have the same hand speed as AJ but his combos where much more lethal. For instance, Foreman’s Jab-Right Cross-Left Hook was WAAAY more damaging and effective than anything AJ has in his arsenal.
I can’t believe AJ is being compared to Foreman😂😂 we need to end this it’s getting silly.

He's not. Clearly an armchair fan with an armchair post.
He was much technically better than AJ. C’mon man.
I’m not saying you have to be technically good to be an A-Level fighter for example, Henry Armstrong wasn’t technically great but his resume and accolades proved he was at the highest level.
AJ simply isn’t at that level in terms of ability, resume and accolades yet.

Because of the lack of depth in the HW division, Ortiz looks like A-level.
Reality is, he's a B- kind of guy. In another generation, he'd be a gatekeeper.
