Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Deontay Wilder survived a pummeling from Luis Ortiz, then knocked out the challenger in the 10th round Saturday night to retain his WBC heavyweight title. Befitting the undefeated champion from Alabama, it was a wild affair for the final few rounds after a dull series of pawing and gesturing by Wilder gave Ortiz a solid lead. Even after Wilder knocked down Ortiz in the fifth round, the bout remained in the Cuban's favour. Click Here To Read More]
Not at all, I'm a klitschko fan and would be more than happy for wilder to win lol...but I gotta be honest man wilder ain't sh** compared to joshua.
Everyone especially the American public are on the bandwagon right now because no one is using their fkn brains anymore, for the first 4 rounds the people were booing them two because nothing is happening. Ortiz is way over 40 and he managed to rock him, now imagine what joshua would do..and how come wilder looked like someone fighting AIDS? That dude has no skills, he has a good punch but that might be enough against the 40 bums he has fought so far...AJ and fury beat him easy.
Lol... He definitely could have aids in his legs.
But AJ couldn't even beat takam easy , or wlad or whyte who is a c grade fighter. No way he beats wilder easy.
Let's say all of that is true.
He's still proven that out of 7 billion people, he's at worst the #2 fighter on the planet.
For a poor kid working as a truck driver delivering the mail, with no background in boxing, to not pick up the gloves until adulthood, and find a way to become one of the greatest fighters in the world, with all of those flaws, thanks to one of the most dangerous right hands in history, he deserves respect.
Even if Joshua knocks him out in the first round, he deserves respect.
I certainly respect Wilder as a boxer to achieve what he has when put in perspective of say myself. He has achieved much more than I.
However I do feel he gets beat by many past top heavyweight champs. They move and punch differently in a way that is telling. I lose respect when he makes claims he could have beat this guy or that.
I also feel AJ is not that good a boxer too. He is quite stiff while Wilder lacks that pedigree. Both rely on their power a lot IMO which is great for boxing in many ways though.
Your clearly one of those joshua fanboys that rates boxers based on the size of there biceps.
Ortiz looked fitter than Joshua to be fair. I didnt see him gassing out in rounds and spitting his mouth gaurd out to get a 60 second rest.

I got a lots of respect for wilder because he's not scared to fight anyone and he's no one's little b1tch like joshua is to hearn but the truth is today he looked like sh**....he looked sick...slimmer than usual and the first 7 rounds didn't let his right go at all...he has limited skills and makes a lot's of mistakes. Ortiz is way older than he claims and his physical shape is sh**, after this fight I have no doubt that Joshua would beat him.

I wouldn't have ever pulled you up on it, but for the fact that you specifically mentioned that you were a lawyer and could recognise intelligent writing.
Also, the irony of finishing your post with "stay classy" after having bragged about how much money you make is pretty amusing, in my opinion.
Your initial post was made without knowing the context of the exchange. That poster and I have history here. Which is why I mentioned my background.
And obviously the use of "stay classy" is supposed to be ironic
Just lay off the thread policing lol it's not a good use of your time
Good fight! Ortiz had the right game plan but was gassed in the late rounds and Wilder found the equalizer. Wilder got no skills, we knew that before but he proved that he can take a punch mutch better than i thought. Wilder vs. Joshua would be brutal and now that Wilder can take a punch i think the fight is more even now. I think that would be a brutal war between these two!
Absolutely agree on all points except for the granite chin part. A granite chin implies that a guy can walk through shots without getting hurt. Wilder was clearly hurt. His survival was more about grit, heart and determination. Peace.
You can add skill and reflexes to that list, but I completely agree with you.
Auto correct is real bruh lol not stressing what I write here

lol! He was hit ALL NIGHT LONG by an old man with no speed, no footwork and was half gassed when he connected. Come on to compare Wilder and his skill set to AJs is silly. His power is not going to be as much of a factor with AJ either. It took TWELVE Rounds for Ortiz to beat Malik Scott yet he almost had Wilder out of there! lol! You are supposed to be a "knowledgeable" fan of the sport.
Wilder entered the ring at 214lbs, throughout the fight he looked liked his perspiration alone was weighing him down. And for his real 1st test, he overtrained and came in too light in an effort to give supporters like me a good show! - and he didn't dissappoint!
If he had the weight like he did in the 1st Stiverne fight (or maybe a little more) he wouldn't have looked so drained & lethargic like he definitely did! Wilder clearly had a training regimen that entailed a lot more calisthenics isometrics & bag work than weightlifting/resistance exercises and that endorphin release seems to have an intoxicating & calming effect that Wilder wants to keep using in camp...
In contrast AJ is CLEARLY affected when he comes in too bulked up, his breathing is heavy during the 2nd 1/2 of fights or after a beautiful barrage of punches...he seems to LOVE his weightlifting & how it "feels" while doing it, so even he might be "stuck" in his preferred exercises during camp....most fighters "lean" towards a favorite. These guys simply are on the opposite side of the spectrum!
We have NO IDEA which Wilder OR Joshua will show up for the BIGGEST FIGHT of their careers when they face each other!! "Nerves" can get the best of any fighter and they might IGNORE better advice from trainers & nutritionists....I think Wilder is a bit guilty of this for Ortiz....Against Parker, AJ might be guilty of too much BULK, thinking he can bowl over the "little man" when he gets in the ring with the SWIFT AGILE champion! That will be his BEST PRIME challenge to date - and we have NO IDEA what weight AJ will SURPRISE us with!
AJ has NOTHING on Wilder except maybe photogenic looks & a Mr. Olympia bod.....but that has NOTHING to do with what goes on in the ring!! A well rounded training regimen for Wilder will be AJ WORST NIGHTMARE & vice versa! But most of all, to me for now anyways, the "mentals" that Wilder possesses are faaar past AJ's! ....Wilder "really" WANTS the BEST RIGHT NOW with the mind set to back it up! AJ "really" at this moment wants MONEY & ADVICE from Hearns......
When AJ finally meets Wilder in the ring he'll be a bulked 270 while Wilder will come in at a slim & trim skeletal remains 198, a totally EQUAL fight for the fans:biggthump!! Again, on a serious note: AJ aint got NUTHIN' on Wilder, and he & Hearn knows it!! Theyre free to think otherwise after last night, but they'll be clearly DUMB to do so!!!:boxing:
He took a good punch but he didn't get hit with anything he didn't see coming.
Excellent point that was made by Holyfield post fight. As Evander stated, it was impressive that he kept his eyes on Ortiz through the whole flurry. He showed some quality there.
Yes, indeed! Wilder not only proved that he could punch but that he has a ton of heart and a chin granite chin to go with it also. He was hurt but refused to go down, He displayed that championship will and determination to stay on his feet. He proved that he's no punk either.
Absolutely agree on all points except for the granite chin part. A granite chin implies that a guy can walk through shots without getting hurt. Wilder was clearly hurt. His survival was more about grit, heart and determination. Peace.
No. 5 or 10 seconds more and the ref would have stopped it. Showing you can take a punch is NOT getting hurt.
I tend to agree. It's more like he showered that he could stay upright while hurt, which is still impressive for a heavyweight. Either way, Wilder changed my perception of him last night and I would now favor him to defeat AJ.

I gotta agree, wilder can definitely take a punch and showed great resilience. I liked him this fight but I just hope no one overrates him now because aj will destroy him.
There will be a lot of broken American hearts if they don't think straight.
difference is wlad is an all time great fighter in great shape and ortiz was a morbidly obese never was and he stilll had to cheat and buy time and rabbit punch to win. some people simply dont understand that boxing is 99 percent capitalism and 1 percent legitimate sport. wilder was always going to win that fight. just check the cards
Not arguing, with Klitschko it was tactical, with Ortiz he could barely throw a jab by the 8th round and was not in shape enough to try and apply pressure by that point, No fighter should get through the 7th and 8th like Wilder did, poor from Ortiz
I figured you're either a writer or you work for one of the ABC orgs/promoters in an administrative role lol
You're posts are too formulaic. As a lawyer, I can spot intelligent writing lol
