I've been lurking on here for a long time and rarely post.
I recognise that people support fighters for a variety of legitimate reasons. First and foremost, they are fans of the sport. Maybe they like their fighting syle? Maybe they like how they conduct themselves? Maybe they are from their home/origin country. Maybe they are the same race/background; or maybe they just like them.
Fair enough.
What I don't understand is why some of you argue to the point of swearing at each others races and families, just to support a fighter who probably wouldn't pi$$ on you if you were on fire?
Is it simply because such people are so prejudiced that they use boxing (and anything else) to spread their views?
Why can't we just all enjoy the sport as it was intended - sport is meant to bring all peoples together?
Finally, just bear in mind, again, even your most favourite fighter really doesn't give a sh1t about you or what you think! (keep that in mind when posting as if they are your long-lost brother or father!)
In some ways it's deeply interrelated with the reasons why people enjoy boxing itself. It's ritualised combat, something that has been a part of our cultures since pagan times and before. We sublimate our own bloodthirsty desires within the contemplation of our chosen surrogate warriors. In doing so society itself is spared the horror that would ensue should the rabid followers of Joshua, Wilder, Lomachenko or Pacquiao cease their squabbling and unleash the viciousness that lies at the heart of their primal natures.
And it is for this very reason that you, LongTimeLurker, with your reckless and dangerous call for peace and understanding in this place of online combat and eternal dissent must yourself be taken to the place of ritual sacrifice and burnt upon the holy cleansing fire to ensure that the endless conflict of 'He duckin doe' can continue to keep our society safe from the madness that lies within us all.

He don't want that work!
Death ! Death! Death! Death!!!

Great post man. Agreed. Just enjoy the sport for what it is. Criticism is the essence of negativity. Who cares what people think. Folks are going to b*tch and moan about any and everything. It doesn't matter, when the bell rings for Round 1, those that were griping about whoever the fighter is, will have their eyes glued on the TV set or cheering in the nosebleeds.
