They had to crown a world champion in order to fulfill their obligation to Oquendo. Even if Oquendo was willing to fight for the super title instead, fans would have been outraged if AJ had been ordered to fight Oquendo. Tewa Kiram had been owed a title shot for a very long time and with Thurman injured, they crowned a world champion rather than an interim champion. This is because they're trying to first get rid of all of the interim titles, and then after that, get rid of all of the super titles. They are not getting rid of the world title. The title Charr has is the title that will remain. There are a million valid reason to criticize the WBA. They should be criticized for adding some of these titles. That doesn't justify lying though and saying they aren't getting rid of anything. That's a lie. Look at the number of champions now. Look at the number of champions two years ago. Did they have to "upgrade" the dorticos vs gassiev winner to super champ? Now we have two garbage fights between below average fighters fighting for the wba title again. And when was the last time they got rid of a wba super title? Last I believe was Kovalev vs Ward, but that was more due to luck, because ward retired after his win. If the winner of barrera vs Bivol is going to unify against Kovalev and they upgrade the winner to super champ again, they wont ever get rid of all the super titles.

You're literally arguing semantics. no im not. im explaining why boxrec has him listed as wba world champion. because he's wba world champion. he holds the title held by ali, frazier, foreman, tyson, holyfield, lewis, etc. They're not eliminating the titles. yes they are. theyre down to one champion in many divisions. when they get down to one champion, they dont get rid of the world championship, they get rid of the super title. which is a different belt design.

As a big Joshua fan, Charr is the only guy in the division that scares me. AJ wipes the floor with all other HW's, but Diamond Boy makes me nervous. Any man that can come back from hip replacements, being KO'd by a CW and taking a gunshot at point blank range and still find a way to become a world champ is one bad mother****er! Diamond Boy gonna wipe the damn floor with the Big O then take care of his unfinished business against Fury and Haye, hopefully he retires after that so Joshua never has to fight him.

WBA said so many times they’re getting rid of it but keep making fake titles like the one Lucas just won Apparently Gervonta Davis will be fighting for a previously eliminated WBA title next aswell. Think if theres sanctioning fees to be had theyll gladly go back on their word.

Everyone knows that the title Charr has isn’t the ‘main’ belt. WBA obviously doing this so they can charge more sanctioning fees..

Why have BoxRec got Charr as the WBA Champ when he’s only got the ‘regular’ title and Joshua’s the ‘Super’ (real) champion.. there's no such thing as a regular title. charr is wba world champion. joshua's super title is the one that will eventually be eliminated.
