When Pac beat Barrera and Morales I was lovin it, Pac showed up on the scene with a big time performance, putting the boxing world on notice! All the way up to Pac's KO over Ricky Hatton I was on board but then he moved up to welterweight and things got sour...
Rungvisai's win over Gonzalez in my opinion is equally as impressive as Pac's win over Barrera. I am rooting for him tonight to take down Estrada, similarly to how Pac ultimately defeated Morales. But if Rung is successful what happens next?
Does HBO start giving him the Manny treatment? Calling him p4p, saying he's better than Crawford, Loma..do they start the non-stop marketing hype machine? HBO needs a star real bad and I'd hate to see them grab Rungvisai and try to make him Pac II.
With HBO he'll end up with a Golovkin-like fanbase and I wouldn't be surprised if hardcore fans went from enjoying Rung to wanting to see him get knocked out just like what ultimately happened to Pac. I would love to see Rung be successful and get paid but Jim Lampley and Kellerman will make us hate Rungvisai if left in their hands!
****ing haters just cant accept that asians puts your ass on your tv and not the other way around. You ****ing morons cant even have evidence on your ped accusations. I wonder why the mayweathers agreed to pay pac for those accusations.
2010 version of Pacquiao beats floyd. after the marquez ko pac became much more cautious he lost his killer instinct. this is coming from a non pac fan btw.
Lmfao a 2010 version of floyd would kill many.
Younger, faster, and more aggressive than the 2015 version. #48 would be too reckless and would've got nailed with right hands consistently. It would look like marquez, cotto or even ortiz vs floyd :usa2:
Gotta love these TBE worshipers. As if TBE beat Pac in a landslide. He was there posing, surviving, running, clinching non stop. How come if Pac was just such a hype job? TBE was supposed to make Pac look average. The opposite happened. Man, stop lying to yourselves.
Pacquiao the man who was hyped up as the man to beat TBE looked like sht in the fight!:usa2:

I disagree with that and always have
I never saw any reason to believe he could beat Floyd regardless of what year it is.....the fight to watch was always Marquez, if Pac struggles against defensive fighters and counter punchers how can you argue he'll beat the best defensive counterpuncher in boxing?
Floyd was always the favorite and had the advantage over Pac: size, skills, natural talent, and most importantly ring IQ. It's not about who you like the most it's about skill-set, talent, experience, etc...all of that was in Floyd's favor.2010 version of Pacquiao beats floyd. after the marquez ko pac became much more cautious he lost his killer instinct. this is coming from a non pac fan btw.
Pac was not technically sound either at that time. As a matter of fact though he was fast and powerful we often called him a one handed fighter. I do agree that Rung's age is the biggest difference and main factor working against him.
That is true, but he's also not given enough credit for the little things he did. His Barrera win was masterful despite being highly based around his left hand, he did put in a lot of right hand tricks. The problem was after beating Barrera, he didn't train as often and thought he could tear through Marquez and Morales using primarily his left hand as powerful as it was.
He put in a few very mediocre wins against jobbers following his Barrera win just to pass the time and those were seriously under performed "W"s.

Going back to 2010 and after I never saw the argument that Pac could beat Floyd. I definitely saw and agreed that the fight should happen but not the argument that Floyd would or could lose to him. There wasn't anything that Pac did that would give Floyd trouble.
When Pac moved to welterweight his fan base became crazy, misguided, and oblivious...once you start claiming Pac could beat Floyd that's when you loss your way.

yes anyone who picks against floyd is crazy... we never even saw the fight(when it mattered) just because some people thought pac would win doesnt take away from his accomplishments. he still beat prime bradley, and one loss cotto there. floyds win over pac is sandwhiched between pac being ko'd cold and pac losing to jeff horn...not good.
his other ww resume consists of old mosley, baldomir, and guys like ortiz and guerrero. not impressive. also mr. clean accurate punches barely landed anything clean against pac. i thought he was going to be a sitting duck but it was pac landing all the clean shots with floyd just grazing him. i chock that up to floyd being old like i said before cause a 38 year old vs a 36 year old recently ko'd cold fighter is not a match up for the ages
you are still mad at people for simply choosing against your guy in a fantasy fight even though we never saw the fight. is that fantasy anger? or wait is this like a calzaghe-jones thing where calzaghe fans pretend he was always better cause he beat jones? dont be in that camp

Just enjoy the fights and the truth will eventually be shown, everyone's story starts somewhere
there is no truth in boxing. its almost entirely a subjective sport. you have some people saying floyd is the best ever even though others think his resume is weak as hell. others think eric crumble is the best. what is the truth???

I'm starting to become a big fan of Rungvisai. I don't think HBO will give him the hype treatment. In fact they'll probably root against him each time.
HBO (specifically Lampley) definitely have their favorite fighters. It's cringeworthy how they fawn over them. They made it seem like Rungvisai stole the first fight from Chocolatito when it was pretty obvious he won the fight. If it wasn't for HBO questioning it, half the people wouldn't have a problem with the win.
well thats your opinion. he beat cotto and bradley there and had 2 fights with his greatest rival as well. and lets not forget the biggest fight of all time happened there...pac vs horn.
but you also said hbo gave him the hype machine treatment, but he just had a bunch of epic exciting fights with barrera, morales, and marquez. why wouldn't you hype him? usually the opposite happens. they were trying to create stars with unproven guys. pac proves himself over and over and they shouldnt hype him?
they called him p4p #1 and you are offended? roy jones had been ko'd a bunch so its not like there was a clear favorite. hopkins was steady but not amazing. floyd was fighting guys like phllip ndou, corley, bruesels, gatti, and sharmba during that period so he wasnt being a real boxer. pac was just as good as anyone and rungvisa will be tooi if he beats estrada.

For the record I'm picking Rung over Estrada because to me Estrada is slow, plodding, and predictable....that's a bad style to have against Rungvisai!
And I'm not saying Manny was overhyped, I'm saying HBO needs a new star which can cause over hype, for instance as some of you pointed out, Gonzales should of never been p4p #1, that was almost 100% generated by HBO hype!

Good post.
The only hype job was Roman González that never was the real #1
I said he moved to welterweight and things got sour.......

Yet Barrera was never called P4P #1
Different ages.
And González never was the #1. No way.
When he was called #1 their best rivals were a drained Estrada (went to 108 pounds), Cuadras that really won the fight and Niida.
An old Viloria with 35 years...
Really?
Barrera won in better fashion to Morales and Hamed.
Only a very idiot fan can compare both fighters.
yeah beating 2 great fighters and the two best in the division back to back will lead to unwarranted hype. we need more bertos and broners. thanks hbo(now thanks pbc)
