RICKY HATTON suggested old rival Floyd Mayweather's decision to fight Conor McGregor "rubbished" the sport of boxing. Mayweather came out of retirement for a lucrative fight against the MMA superstar last summer, with both men pocketing tens of millions of dollars for the pay-per-view event. Click Here To Read More]
Cortez was one of the worst, most bias boxing ref's in history and was in Floyd's pocket. He ruined that fight and it was blatant too. Never one warning to Floyd for elbowing Ricky every chance he got and never let Hatton fight on the inside after he stunned Floyd early on. Had to save his sugar daddy didn't he? That was proof in the pudding.
:burnout:
The elbows werent at blatant as the outright attempts at bullying. The elbows were to push off the aggressive attempts at grabbing, roughing up and ill-advised advice from his corner to get a win primarily based on intimidation......Hattons skill level was "good" at best. If Hatton wasn't allowed to have his own way while advancing as he missed his numerous shots - he was useless!
If you think he's on Mays & Pacs level then we'll never agree......Maybe its good I'm not a ref, because I would have scraped Hatton OFF Tszyu, Mayweather, or any fighter he did that to......this is boxing not grappling. Depression ultimately took Hatton out the game because he realized his style couldn't hang with the best, just like "relying" on his roughhousing ultimately got him knocked out......he seems to be a nice guy otherwise!
Maybe its more fair than square because Tszyu has definitely done his fair share of a similar bully press on some opponents in his heydey. I'm just not one for appreciating what I believe to be excessive grabbing & grappling by Hatton. To me its not "infighting," its in-cheating!
Cortez anticipated & saw what I & MANY saw - a constant need at seperating pure grappling confusion! The rest was brilliant boxing history.......Hatton "was completely taken out of the fight" because ALL he had to offer in the fight was a FAILED attempt at getting into Floyds head with immature amateurish bullying head games that was more of a nuisance than strategy........I know u disagree....so we'll agree to disagree....peace.

Furious over this? There's so many things to be furious at in the world right now

Why get mad? It's Floyd's choice to look more like a Harlem Globetrotter than an LA Laker.
Last time I checked, the Harlem Globetrotters are not competing in the NBA.
Actually even worse. It's like Harlem Globetrotter playing in the playoff finals instead of a real NBA team that deserves it more.
Hmmm, at least the Harlem Globetrotters know how to play basketball .... McGregor fight was a joke.
.
He beat Tszyu fair and square and put up a hell of a fight with Floyd until he was completely taken out of the fight by the Floyd-c@ck sucking ref Cortez. Inside fighting is still boxing.

SMH.......Tszyu landed the kitchen sink on Ricky and he walked through it. Don't try and let lay anything off and act like Tsyu was shot or something. Not even close. He looked fast and sharp. That was just Rickys night and he imposed his will big time. You can't rewrite history hater.
Hey I’m not! I am saying that after a 13 fight winning streak and not that often in the ring tszyu was not prime BUT, will not say Ricky didn’t bully him and beat him down for a career best win.
Actually, I think the Castillo win is a close 2nd.
Ricky Hatton was one of the toughest British fighters ever produced.
Just stating the numbers is all.
Hatton hit the nail on the head. I had this conversation with my old man not to long ago. Growing up, 4 to 15, I wasn't interested in watching the biggest events and the drama behind it; I simply watched boxing for the fun of it.
You have always had stars and names that bring in more attention but that is now dominating the sport to the point that people who haven't done much are starting to play that role. I look at fighters like Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman; they're not at a level where they should be dictating terms.
I was a Hatton fan and at 140 he was tough but a prime Kostya Tszyu would demolish him inside a round.

Hatton likes to mention Kostya Tszyu like he beat him fair & square. He didn't. He tore into Tszyu like a worldwind, jumping on him with pure grappling & clinching. If the ref had the wherewithal to take a stand against the brazen rape, Hatton would have most likely lost. He tried to use that same MMA roughhousing crap on Mayweather, but Mayweather constantly pushed him off unfazed! If anything, its Hatton who's the one that introduced MMA fighting to boxing with the blatant grappling rape against Tszyu. That did more to tarnish boxing than Mayweather/Mcgregor ever could.......I totally lost respect for any "skills" he or the media tried to conjur up for him after the rape......and was not surprised when May & Pac wiped the floor with him......

Depression dumbass. He became an drunk coke head after that fight. He was never the same. In this article i think he’s really just upset what happened to his career it has nothing to do with belts and mma vs boxing.
Whatever. You just wanted a poke at Hatton because you're a thick c@nt. Stfu idiot
two words: check hook.
STFU cokehead Ricky. how many goat herders making their pro debuts did Chavez fight in his career?
and money aside the fight was actually exciting. and all the fighters speaking down on it would all sign a contract to fight Conor.
lolololol :):)

They have no way of knowing what his net worth is. The only publicly available information is the purses that are announced, of which he would get less than half after fees and taxes. Most promoters dont announce the fees or the other details. Then there is no way to know how much he has spent. He hasnt fought in years and there is no way to know the financial status of his own promotion company because its not publicly traded and not required to disclose anything.
TLDR - those websites estimating networth are useless.
Regardless, the idea that Hatton is jealous because of money is retarded.
Hatton forgot that prizefighters fight for the PRIZE. Any fighter offered a 9-figure payday is going to take it, and would justify it regardless of how ridiculous it is.
Nonsense!!! Ask old Ricky Hatton if he would fight McGregor for 100mil.lol.
Exactly, no boxer would turn it down, cant blame the fighters its the gullible fans that made it happen, money controls the world and always will.

I agree and suspected those sites for a while.
Hatton jus seems frustrated & still depressed. MMA vs Boxing is/was a novel idea, its two combat sports that both employ punching. Its not like punching isn't/wasn't used to knock out opponents in an MMA cage, its simply understood that in MMA punching is used faaar less. The fact that Mayweather/McGreggor did so well is a testament to the fact that fans anticipate being inspired & surprised by top notch athletes daring to do the unthinkable.
Of course the "personal" hatred & liking of each of the guys played a part in viewership, as well as the racial overtones that plague society. Us boxing fans knew practically any pro boxer would wipe the floor with Connor, but if Connor seriously didn't believe that could happen, being the 1st inspired athlete to simultaneously hold 2 MMA belts in the sport, then who had the right to stop what could be historical?
Lets not get it twisted, Gettin' MONEY was the main objective! But also seeing a GREAT ATHLETE such as Mayweather in his LAST hoorah against an outstanding athlete in his twenties was also very intriguing and a CAN'T MISS!.....The athlete in Mayweather is amazing!, the other crass things in his personal life - not so much....his personal life happens to be on display, doesnt mean the fans watching don't have similar personal issues.
I would have had Connor come in there with his signature MMA trunks, his cool crazy choice of haircut and barefoot if he wanted to......to kind of give it a Marvel vs DC kind of vibe (lol)......Nevertheless, the event turned out to be a SMASHING SUCCESS regardless what Hatton or all "know it alls" felt about it! Mayweather ADDED to the sport of boxing by faaar, he certainly didn't detract from it. And it certainly doesnt mean a future MMA star can't prepare & test himself in different territory......maybe even bobsleading or ballet:D!
