Was Danny G Rios the best ko of 2018 so far only? (2months in)
Raymond Beltran finally won a world strap after getting robbed, to losing and testing positive he finally made it!
Eubank is a bit more earnest and probably has the capacity to heed advice.
Jr is a rich spoilt cvnt who got a bit famous because of his legendary father. Eubank Jr at least tried against Groves.
Jr practically bent over against Canelo and took a nice pounding. Even his dad booed him.
He's done, he made the same exact mistake as Chavez and that's moving up in weight. Unless he can move back down he's stuck at gate keeper status.
If both men stayed at 160 they could've become champions.
160 right now has multiple junior middles, Canelo, Andrade, Charlo, Lemieux. Eubank already proved he can hang with a top 3 MW when he fought BJS. Jacobs has been blasted out in 5 and dropped by Mora.
Now compare that to 168, you've got 3 fighters 6'2+ with Smith, Benavidez, Ramirez. Groves already beat his ass, you also have Braehmer. The only weak link is Truax but we all know he'll be replaced soon.
I think Eubank will go on to fight good fights and I don't think his loss was that bad. He is a better, more determined and more dedicated boxer than Chavez Jr. The KO of Rios was probably the best I have seen this year.
I really think he needs to move back down, he had a great chin but he doesn’t really have a boxing brain. At 168 he would be competing against bigger guys, it’s ok if those bigger guys aren’t good quality but the moment he gets better than normal quality he would lose again. He could not move or bully Groves last week and this was a Groves that has a lot more mileage on him. I would have said drop his dad and all of that but after the post fight press conference that I saw last week I think he needs his dads truth in his camp. One last thing, I definitely believe he underestimate Groves going into that fight.
He's not going to be Chavez Jr. - he's dedicated.
Let's not act like he's not any good anyway... He lost to Saunders and Groves, both genuine world class - pushed them both, while being less experience men at both occasions and smaller men at one.
Eubank - even withouth making dramatic changes, is good enough to win titles, he's just not going to be elite, top-notch fighter...
It's just funny to laugh at him because that dude has an ego, is obviously deluded and tries so hard to impress everyone.
Jr. and Sr. have something unhealthy going on in their relationship and its time for jr. to adress those issues, make changes. He probably has been told since beeing a kid that he is the best thing since sliced bread. Reality is, atm he wont win vs. a really good fighter. And it was obvious he hasnt the punching power as an equalizer for his lack his skill/gameplan. I thought he has improved since Saunders, but he only looked better cause of the opposition. Now that he stepped up, totally the same. Instead of adjusting a gameplan, he got desperate. A mixture of heart and desperation. Heart is good, beeing desperate in the ring is not.
ps. Chavez jr. at least beat Andy Lee :-)
Chavez Jr is lacking what Eubank Jr has in abundance: Work ethic.
So yes, Eubank will bounce back. It's only a matter of time, he will pick up a belt again.
He can make some things happen especially at 160 lbs, he needs a better corner that would tell him things like they are and to tell him what exactly is it that he needs to work on.
Chavez on the other hand was a lazy person who didn't really care about his career. I don't think Eubank is lazy at all, he just needs to work snarter not just harder.
He's not really working with a lot of skills. Given what he has, he could maximize his potential at middleweight. Based on what I saw, he needs to move down.
