Wow that's a good question, TS. I would say Chavez's ratio of hype to talent is slightly greater.

I voted Chavez, because we've been waiting for longer for him to realize his potential, but in reality both guys could be really good fighters, but just grew up too rich and with too much comfort in their lives to really want it and that's their undoing Both would be world beaters if they knew struggle

Eubank Jr. Chavez Sr. had much bigger shoes to fill. No one expected Jr. to come close to his legacy. While it is true that his name opened up opportunities for him that otherwise would not have been, he was always judged against his father and could never earn the same level of admiration and respect given his limited skills and lack of discipline.

Maybe Chavez, outside of Chavez being a cashcow, don't think people were ever buying into him being a great fighter.

Easily JCC Jr., he had millions of Mexicans backing him and tuning in to his fights. Both men aren't bad at all, they just ran into very good fighters in Martinez and Groves. Seriously, I'd give JCC and Eubank a shot to beat ANYONE at 160, they could easily be champions and more than held their own their time at 160.

Eubank. Chavez had the crazy backing and push to make a star out of a boxer that wasn't. He wasn't bad, but i don't remember anyone hyping him. If anything, most boxing fans knew his level and that he would be found out against anybody decent. Eubank however had a lot of people fooled into believing he was going to destroy everybody at SMW. Mostly casuals, but enough to actually make him favourite over Groves with bookies.

I voted for Chavez jr. Eubank jr. is the better fighter in my opinion. He trains hard and makes weight and he doesn't quit. If they fought now Eubank would win in my opinion I agree .. if they fought now. One thing you have to credit Eubank Jr for is his dedication. He eats, drinks and sleeps boxing, lives the life and trains like a maniac, something you could never accuse JCC Jr of. But The JCC Jr who won the WBC world title by KOing Andy Lee would have handled Eubank Jr without too many problems, imo.

I mean fuck it, anyone can claim any old sh1te, but if only their mother believes them I'm not quite sure it really qualifies. In this case I remember the bollocks people were talking about JCC jr, and there genuinely was a sizable contingent on here who thought he was the second coming (of his dad, that is lol) and who would wax lyrical about his sublime skills. In the case of young Eubank I don't think more than one or two people actually believed he was some elite talent, although there were some who were overly impressed with his athleticism and apparent fitness... to my eternal shame I was one of them. What a dumbass.:rofl: Because of his name, most of Eubank Jr's early learning fights were televised live on terrestrial TV in the UK and watched by casual sports fans who didn't know enough about boxing to realise that he was dominating and KOing easy, hand picked opponents. I'm not saying all those casual fans believed what his dad and his trainer were saying about Jr ... but they didn't reject it outright either. Many times I would get workmates asking me whether I thought Jr would have beaten Hagler or Roy Jones, after they'd seen him knocking some Latvian cab-driver TFO, and listened to the crazy shit his dad was talking about him, lol.

Chavez lost a lot of fights that went his way because of his name. I think it's him.

I do think Eubank Jr is dedicated to being an athlete. But Chavez Jr actually hold a decent win over Andy Lee. Eubank hasn't beaten anyone yet. Other than Yildirim who was hyped for knocking James DeGale's veneer out in sparring.

Tbh Chavez isn’t as too bad he’s just a lazy stoner. Eubank Jr was on some Anthony Mundine type of delusions. If we’re being honest we probably know Eubank jr for winging shots at bags (on instsgram) more so than beating people. Hell, if I only heard the Charles Martin “Walk this earth like a god” quote without knowing who said it I would have thought it came from Eubank jr (or his “corner”)........ or David Haye. Almost started beliving the hype tbh... almost.

In relation to skill level, Eubank clearly. Chavez got a lot more hype, but he was actually a solid fighter, just far from A level. He was overrated and shoved down our throats, but he has some good wins and won a world title. Eubank just doesn't have the talent to be a decent fighter. Chavez has some talent, but no work ethic and terrible ring IQ. Both will never live up to their fathers' legacies, but at least Chavez had a decent career up to this point. I have my doubts that Eubank will.

I thought Chavez JR has some skills but is fully lazy and has no commitment. Eubank is far from lazy, but is arrogant and not intelligent.
