Will his followers and all that be falling? I've never followed him on any social media but I would search him every now and then when anything controversial was said in the news. Just looked on Twitter, he still has 8.04M followers but he seems to get a fraction of the likes he would get on active boxing posts. Has his number of followers remained steady?
In terms of relevance, obviously. Every boxer gets less coverage when they’re no longer active.
I think his talent will be far more appreciated though. His consistency in making elite boxers look ordinary was something to behold. I expect nostalgia to be kind to him in time and he may go down as the best ever, which a lot of people consider blasphemy right now.
Not while people still think he will fight in the Octagon. I don't know about social media and all that hoopla, but Floyd is a celebrity, not a boxer. He was in DWTS and WWE. He fought McGregor for the second biggest ppv ever just last year. People still know him and they still hate him and they still wanna see him lose. As long as people still have that hope, they will be interested.
Good comparison. The same people that hate them follow them on social media so they can hate them.
retarded.
The bitvh gat like a billion followers smh
the woman beater *Floyd will have the same number of idiots who continue to follow and support a woman beater, won't matter.
if anything you're aiding in the woman beater *Floyd staying relevant since you brought up his name once again. you want something to fade, stop bringing it up.
Like with all other generations, the Sport moves on with their new stars. Fans of the moment can't fathom the idea that Floyd won't be AS relevant in the years to come but it happens with everyone. Think of kids that are 5 years old today and how they'll look at Floyd when they're 15 years old. They'll look at Floyd like "The Old Guy" IF they even know who he is by then (we're living in an era where kids literally don't know who Jay Z, Nas and Wu-Tang are). It happens in EVERY era. Once Floyd physically can't fight anymore and he fully, fully retires there's really nothing to get excited about when it concerns him unless you like his IG posts of him reminding us he's a wealthy guy.

All fighters lose some degree of popularity during retirement. Even ATGs like Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, JCC, Duran, etc., have lost some of their popularity post-retirement. It's inevitable.
Floyd is will never be forgotten.

you stupid piece of shlt. lollolololol STFU dummy! Do some research before you go typing yourself into dumbfuk land. heheheheheee
notice caption....Most googled athlete
Lmaooo and Pacquio still not on the list retard. He’s a meth smoker why would he be on the list lol. No one cares about him anymore.
What exactly was that supposed to prove you illiterate b1tch?
Nike lost so much money by signing Pacquio lmao because no one gives a sh1t about the 7time loser unless his name is attached to Floyd

Lol at LESS than 1million dollars. TMT clothes brought in more revenue than that.
Floyd isn't going to lose relevance as long as ESPN, FOX and the networks show him at sporting events and cover every social media post he makes. Floyd has shown himself to be a "social media expert" in that he knows how to make timely posts that attract a response, especially from those that do not like him.
If people could just control themselves and not respond then he'd be much less relevant. It's amazing that effect he has on those that hate him the most.
His relevance will fade in time. Eventually, he will be too old for anyone to take his hints of going UFC or making a boxing comeback seriously. If his fighters keep taking beatings like Gavril did Saturday, his relevance as a promoter will fade too.
Same with Kardashians, people just dont know to ignore things they supposedly don't like

Nope Best Boxer of his generation. In 20 years he is gonna be hype like Pernell Whitaker, and Lennox Lewis.
Is this humour?
If so I applaud your cunning wit.
I say no because take Michael Jordan for example: Even though he has been retired and out of basketball as a player for at least 15 years and yet he is still popular among fans due to his commercial appeal and product lines; Especially the Nike "Air Jordan's".
Except for three things:
Jordan is marketable
Jordan owns the biggest brand of basketball shoes in the world
Jordan isn't pulling publicity stunts for relevancy
So no Floyd will not remain as glamorous a name unless he finds something to truly excel about during life after boxingl. Achievements in sports are great but they like chicks you smashed ten years ago fade with time until they are brougth up again.
true story.
Floyd isnt a icon of nothing but ignorance. He made of fortune off people wanting to see him lose and that drew money from is opponents fan base. His fan base are merely
people of his own race who worship what another mans has AKA...dlck riders. Even Floyd has to come up and say some dumb shlt like hes gonna fight in the MMA. Just to get attention. He knows nobody cares about him and that hes not relevant anymore. He cant take it lol.
Floyd could have retired 5 years ago and he’d still be more popular than pacquiao. No one mentions pacquio around here unless it’s a Mayweather thread lol. All the threads are about Floyd he brings the most traffic to this website. Pacquiao had to resort to getting beat and bloodied by a school teacher on cable tv lmaoo he not even a PPV fighter anymore.
Even Floyd has to come up and say some dumb shlt like hes gonna fight in the MMA
^^It’s called promoting yourself illiterate Pacroid fan. Pacquiao wouldn’t know about that he lets his slave owner Arum control him. That attention you speak of is going to net him another 100million easily and leave him with the top 6 ppvs of all time retard. Maybe if pacquiao would of promoted his self he wouldn’t have had his bank accounts garnished.
Where’s irrelevant Pacquiao?

This is what happens when Arum takes all your money and you suffer one of the most brutal kos of all the time. You have to shack up with your butt buddies.

Pacquiao fan base consists of sewer rats who smoke Shabu just like him.
I feel like Mayweather either craves attention or simply craves money, or both. I'm not hating on the man, he's made a successful living off of what he does. But isn't it funny how both times when Canelo/GGG was announced he posted something right after? It's like the guy can't stand someone getting more attention then him. I don't know. I've never been a big fan of Floyd but his love for money might go sour one day. He's been mostly inactive against legit boxers since his win over Berto in '15. If and when he decides to return to boxing against a seasoned, active fighter, he could potentially lose.
