Has speed, good agility, good basic raw skills but been severely under-utilised and mismanaged.
If he had gone down the normal path i.e. hire a trainer and help him guide you, say someone like Adam Booth from the start, he would be a different animal. This self manage argument his team put forth has cost him and wasted his career.
What a shame.
Where is the talent people talk about? He's just a tough, fitness freak who tries overwhelming fighters with volume and it only really works vs punchbags. There's no adjustments or plan B.
He's got no jab or straight right. His balance and coordination is horrible and often leaves his feet behind. His upper body movement is excessive and puts him out of position to come back with anything.
He's constantly caught square and frankly he's lucky he's inherited his Fathers chin. He hasn't the footwork, footspeed, feints nor head movement to close distance so is forced to lunge like a wild animal only even they don't leave their feet.
He's an overachiever if anything he has little natural ability, skills and a very poor ring IQ.
Its surprising to me tbh he's got that far given all that stands out is his chin, fitness and workrate.
Groves said Eubank wasn’t a Super Middleweight. Bellew said the same. Jr. said the power difference with Groves and weight was apparent.
All while Triple Gee and Jacobs milked 160 for years on end, Eubank gets no respect for at least fighting competition in an class not ready for him at the elite level.
The whole thing has been over exaggerated. Groves easily coated this fight. Eubank Jr. needs a new mgmt team to know what to do when Championship adjustment is needed. Most of the blame is Eubank Sr. He has never fully committed to Jr. as a real full time trainer, only to sneak in the spotlight and pay another trainer to do filler.
If anything Eubank Jr. should’ve just stayed in Vegas and Sr. paying a premium to Mayweather Sr. for a good 5 years since 2014. Eubank Sr. just cheap and ego, never wanted his son to pass him. GGG is a natural born middleweight who always fought the best middleweights who were willing to fight him. he didn't milk sh*t and neither did Jacobs. It they milked the middleweight division then so did Hagler, Monzon and Hopkins. There is nothing wrong with staying at your correct fighting weight and fighting all worthy challengers at that weight.
I dont even think that is the case . I am sure i saw an interview were Snr was saying His son did not need a trainer. Because he just new what to do when Situations Arrived. Kind of like he was some sort of natural. But when you get to higher levels you cant do it all your self And being super fit wont cut it !as Eubank found out lol. For me he has so many bad habits from teaching himself . He does not have the basic Fundimentals , i cant see anyway he can change even with a good trainer.
What a load of sht. Eubank is so special but his dad messed it up huh lol gtfo with all that.
Let’s just blame everybody else for Eubank’s shortcomings. The dad, trainer, his mom etc.
Eubank doesnt have this “ special talent “ you are speaking of.
I wouldn't say wasted but with better guidance you think he could have got to a higher level quicker. He's 28 now so it's hard to see him progressing now.
He has great physical gifts and a chin but not enough basic boxing skills to make the most of them. Maybe a good coach who got him at 18/19 could have moulded him into something special.
No that son actually gets to use his name - the other one is one he had nothing to do with until like last year? He will be acting him in a film this year, can't recall his name Nathan Wilson or something.
oh....no idea then haha
well, the hell do I know? lmao I don't follow the English boxers as much as I should I guess. Didn't know there was another Eubanks that tried lacing up the gloves.
Edit - After googling, it would appear that yesterday was his first pro fight. I won't beat myself up over that haha

He has already done that with one of his sons though...

Talent? I don't see it. Athleticism? Yes.
I have to agree, I never saw any natural raw talent in Junior. Athleticism and his fathers name...thats what good him to where his is. He talked the talk but can't walk the walk as a boxer.
Do you think he doesn't listen or Sr doesn't allow someone else to take control? I don't think the Booth thing rests solely on Jr. I think Sr has turned Jr into an uncontrollable person, and Sr himself doesn't want someone else controlling his son. So Booth thought screw this I'm outta here.
Also what injury to his elbow?
Eubank Jnr had a chronic elbow injury throughout his career where hes tried treating it, not sure how it was caused. Thats why he developed his uppercut to the extend that he has.
Regarding Adam Booth apparently it was a sparring issue, Booth wanted him to do so many rounds but Eubank Jnr refused? Maybe someone could clear that up.
IIRC the dad had nothing to do with it, Booth just walked out because he didnt like Eubanks actions/attitude.
Also Eubank Snr tried bringing his old trainer (Eubank was trained by a puerto rican coach when he was in the states) to train Eubank Jnr but that only lasted a short time also. I remember them working on just the fundamentals like the jab-right hand and they would do it over and over.
So its clear Eubank Snr knew Jnr was lacking in those departments.
You might be right about Eubank Snr making his son that way, maybe unintentionally. His father was the same but nowhere near as bad as his son.
Maybe if it weren't his son, but I doubt he was going to call his sons bluff and say "we're done" knowing Jr. is as hard headed as he is. A father isn't going to walk away from his son's corner.
He has already done that with one of his sons though...
Easier said than done though bro, his father comes across as a controllable freak. If Jr walked away in his early career I could easily have seen a situation where Sr kicked up a fuss and said we're done.

He cost himself that, not his father. Jr. was a 25 year old grown man who made a choice.

Well yeah! But isn't this basically like saying he would be better at boxing if he was better at boxing?
It's not like he was caught in his losses but he came up short against two good boxers with extensive amateur as well as pro experience.
Eubank Jr is a good, exciting fighter. He's not as good as BJS or Groves. I thought he might out last George but he couldn't get passed what is a world class jab.
I think he could have beaten both if he had a proper train in his corner, someone like Adam Booth. That's my point. He has all the raw skills but it's been severely underdeveloped.
By not having one and self managing he has ruined his career.
His father tried to get Adam Booth to train him but Eubank jnr just didnt listen
Eubank Jnr listens to nobody, thats his problem not his fathers
That said as long as he has that injury to his right elbow he will never have any power or confidence in the right hand, notice how he barely threw the straight right in the BJS and Groves fight.
