In the first bout, Golovkin tried to do a Wladimir Klitschko on Canelo Alvarez by out-jabbing him from long range (successfully).
This time, is he going to change up and do a Gassiev on Canelo by inflicting more damage to the body?
Are we going to see Golovkin's versatile skill set in display? Does he still have the abilities at his current age to be successful with such tactics?
No he didn’t. If he did, HBO would have edited Gennady always landing on Bummelo, to show he never missed. But as we know, HBO has integrity to not have backlash that Gennady had more proximity missed jabs than those landed. If all you’re doing is throwing jabs then of course you’re going to land. Bummelo uses a high guard and doesn’t move by choice, so it’s common sense the jab will land now and then. Bummelo’s style doesn’t move like Lamont Peterson or Lara whom don’t use high guards in welcoming close range.
I'll post a thread very soon with gifs presenting evidence of punches landed by both in each round and who won each round based on punches land.
Words are cheap! Pictures / gifs speak a thousand words!
He has his own style that isn't a copy of either Wlad or Gassiev. He will use his excellent power jab and probably try to land more body punches as well.
If he could have thrown more to the body he would have. It wasn’t by choice. It was taken.
And is it really “successful” (the jabs) if he then gets out power punched in volume and quality?
He’s GOING to get countered, the only thing will be if he’s willing to take the punches to give his and he didn’t seem to want to give anything away last time...maybe this time will change. I think the next fight will see a KD at the least. Canelo has to give more in the way of volume and GGG has to risk more in the way of meaningful punches.
GGG now knows it’s inevitable hes going to get hit and get hit hard if he’s to risk more to throw and land power punches.
It’s an interesting dynamic that we have with this fight. Both honestly fought great fights when you consider who they had infront of each other. I can’t wait to see the rematch.
Does Canelo throw more and thus gives GGG more opportunity? Does GGG throw more powerful but slower punches that will open him up to fast hard counters? Find out next week on dbz
Did Wlad have a high rate in missing jabs on an off night against a P4P fighter?
Gennady Golovkin could barely miss with his jab on Canelo Alvarez's face!
