The International Olympic Committee threatened to axe boxing from the Tokyo 2020 Games on Sunday as it opened an investigation into the sport's controversial governing body and said concerns lingered over possible match-fixing at Rio 2016. The IOC's executive board also froze contacts with and financial payments to the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA), whose interim president has been named as a leading criminal by the US Treasury Department Click Here To Read More]

^^^^^ this right here
including alot of others before him that got snubbed
The IOC should kick AIBA out And put someone else in charge of boxing
i agree, but they'd be hard pressed to get that together before 2020. boxing might miss an olympics.
Im for them not doing boxing in Tokyo. This needs to stop and get cleaned up. Even if it takes YEARS!
I agree. I'd be desperately sorry for the young amateurs that have their hearts set on Olympic success, it would be dreadfully cruel on them, but it's already cruel on so many of those cheated by corrupt decisions.
Although perhaps there's steps to take before banning it, maybe some kind of computerised judging could be introduced to try and reduce the capacity of fights to be fixed, or judges brought in independently of AIBA?
Of the Olympic events I've been to only boxing has left me with the feeling that I'd witnessed a corrupt event. I remember the crowd's booing in Sydney after witnessing a home town boxer getting schooled for 3 rounds then somehow winning the decision. It felt horrible, especially when you thought of his opponent, working for years towards a medal then getting it snatched from his hands by corrupt judging.
There's been far too many robberies, home town decisions etc. over the years. Everyone knows it but each Olympic year it continues. I love boxing, but I'd support any efforts to clean it up including removing it from the Olympics until such time as it can get its house in order.
And those c@cksuckers had the BALLS to fine him the Maximum $9,300??
Then those POS said "People accusing AIBA of corruption have no EVIDENCE"
Im soo glad the AIBA is DONE!!!
I hate the mafia and the nepotism in boxing. Honestly these cocaine snorting fat snails, promoters and all think they are some hard gangsters, I'd love to see the boxers get their hands on the filth that have been robbing them blind all these years.
Sadly that will never happen.

Was gonna mention that, he did specifically call out AIBA as well didn't he?
EDIT: Rewatched the video and yeah, he called AIBA out by name and said "AIBA are ****ing cheats" to the reporter
Fckin sure it is,
Have you ever tried to win a fight away from home?
You have to ko someone to the point of them being unconscious to MAYBE get a decision.
Some of the judging in the amateurs is awful, and not fair on some of the young lads who train hard to have their confidence dashed liked that fairly regularly.
yeah it is disgraceful and so sad to see young kids work so hard only to be denied because of Politics and BS behind the Scenes
Threatening to ban the sport will do little to clean up amateur boxing, which has been so corrupt it is not funny. The Olympics really highlights the corruption to a wider audience, as I've seen blatantly biased scoring, overturned decisions and more.
If they're serious about cleaning up the sport then the law needs to get involved, people charged and jailed as well as an investigation into past practices and recommendations for new checks and balances.
