Zurdo Ramirez! Hes definitely a student of the game. Sure his resume may look week but his last 2 opponents wouldve gave anyone at 168 problems.
Thoughts?
There was a thread on here as to why Ahmed was given such a fight despite being an unknown, guess the OP of that thread was right after all....African boxers crumble when they fight world class and their successes are limited to Africa
he sons your pbc boy Benevidez easy. Lets see if Benevidez even gets by gavril...
I may eat my words, but I have been amazed that everyone is looking past Gavril and giving Benevidez the victory without a second thought. My opinion of Gavril went way up after the first fight. If he can use that sneaky power and drop Benevidez early instead of late this time, I think it changes the whole complexion of the fight.

MY thoughts? I think the phrase is to 'talk about the elephant in the room'. It's a metaphor, see? There isn't an actual elephant to talk to, even if one was inclined to do so.
I totally agree brother! I think GGG has some of the best footwork boxing. But to think that gggs footwork is far superior to ramirez is ridiculous. I do beleive ggg has the better upper body range tho but ramirez does work on imporovement.
Ramirez is a little overrated, I guess. He outboxed Abraham but let's be honest, Abraham was old and never knew how to close distance. When Abraham gets hit a few times he ticks his gloves to his head and waits it out. He did the same thing against Eubank.
Other than that Ramirez really hasn't done anything. He outworked Jesse Hart without looking impressive and fought 2 boring mismatches against Bursak and Ahmed.
In all of those fights he showed us his weaknesses and I don't see him improving much.
I'm gonna say it right now, Gilberto Ramirez seems to be like a bigger southpaw version of Antonio Margarito.
He can make some money with his belt because he'll always have fans, he's Mexican, but when it comes to fighting the best, he won't make it that far.
I like Zurdo think he's legit , but don't think he's done nearly enough to be mentioned in the top 3 yet
Haven't watched the fight tonight
But his opposition level has been absolute sh.it
He needs to step it up against a live opponent
I heard Zurdo and Benavides were sparring partners at one point, probably helped hone each other's skills. Zurdo's competition has been soft but he has improved a lot over the years.
My thoughts are he easily beat and KOed an African boxer who was not very good and not a worthy challenger. He is the WBC champion and he beat the number 4 WBC challenger so he did his job as champion. The WBC shouldn't have ranked the African. Bocrec ranks him number 127 at 168 and the WBA, IBF and WBO do not rank him at all in their top 15 at 168. I don't believe the African would give any of the top 168 pound boxers any more trouble than he gave Ramirez. He was a weak challenger who should not have been fighting for a world title. Ramirez did beat a very good challenger in Hart. That was a good win for him.
Honest question, if he beat Eubank Jr the same way, would your opinion change of Ramirez?
What?
He won't go anywhere near Eubank Jr. He'll be pulverized! You kidding me? I like Porky Medina better than this guy. Really.
There's a difference between blind people calling Golovkin flat footed for staying perfectly balanced and in range to fire back and me calling Ramirez flat footed for mostly throwing arm punches because his feet aren't planted.

The Mexican youngsters shined tonight. Ramirez is ok, nothing more.

People blast flat footed fighters but 90% of the time its about having your footing at the right place at the right time. Ramirez legs are so long it puts him in the right place at the right time.

I seen him, he has improved I just dont think hes that good. I dont like his style or the way he throws his punches but maybe it just one of those things where it "outside looking in" but just what I think of him.
Im sure if him and benevidez fight I 100% believe benevidez stops him.
As I have gotten deeper into the amateur game, I have realized the importance of the warm up.
ramirez didnt wrap his hands til the fight before his own finished. IMO thats why his stoppages dont come earlier. But oh well I would love to see benevidez vs ramirez. I will travel to Az or Nv for it!
He was paid not to show. WBSS paid him step aside money as he is too good.
Top rank would probably roll with that but truth is ramirez would be the 1 or 2 favorite
Because of his promoter but to think that ramirez wouldnt be a high favorite would be absurd.
He is so good that between rounds when getting his cut worked on, he was watching P0rn on his phone. I saw the angle on the espn app.
