I like Alexander Povetkin as a boxer. Been a big fan of him as a boxer for awhile now. He is one of my favourite Russian boxers. I've defended him over the PED nonsense because there are lots of misconceptions surrounding the issue. Including over the validity, accuracy and reliability of drug testing in the current era. I also believe he is a very brave boxer fighting in the heavyweight division against giants as a very small sized man who probably doesn't even belong in that weight division.
However, Alexander Povetkin is a 6 foot 1 boxer who is arguably a natural light heavyweight / cruiser weight without additional / extra weight in his body. He doesn't belong in the same ring with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury.
I personally believe Alexander Povetkin is asking for a death / suicide wish fighting against someone like Anthony Joshua. This might just be a gruesome public UK slaughter / execution awaiting the poor Russian. I don't want to see the poor guy badly torn apart, limb to limb and have his body divided into sequential parts by the astronomically stronger Anthony Joshua and appear like an executed / slaughtered animal
Povetkin lacks the punching power to be anything more than a minor nuisance to the significantly stronger, tougher and durable Anthony Joshua. Due to being a relative feather-fist. Joshua may just walk right through every one of Povetkin's weak feather fisted punches. Povetkin also lacks boxing skills to make up for his lack of size. Oleksandr Usyk would be a more challenging opponent for Joshua than Povetkin because he is taller, rangier, bigger and significantly more skilled.
This bout will again prove to the world and public how physically weak Russians are, compared to African Americans and African British just like how Ward proved how weak Sergey Kovalev is in comparison. I think it's about time Russians stop embarrassing and humiliating themselves in public as such weak humans trying to challenge the much stronger boxers.
I doubt this match would last more than 3 rounds and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Povetkin gets put to hospital in the very first round or even sent to his very coffin. He may just have his head decapitated by the first power punch or upper cut that Joshua lands flush.
Anthony Joshua is going to be FAR TOOOOOOOOOOO strong and powerful for the brave Alexander Povetkin who doesn't understand exactly what he's getting himself into. Povetkin is going to be totally manhandled, out muscled, dominated and treated like a little rag doll or a new born baby by the strongman Joshua.
All I can say to his fans is be careful what you wish for! This is one of the biggest proposed mismatches I've seen in awhile now.
Let's hope Povetkin doesn't get past David Price because he might even get destroyed by Price. But if he somehow does get past Price, be prepared for the public execution / slaughter to occur in the UK to the brave Russian Povetkin.
Don't say I didn't warn ya!
I know what PEDs are. And if you add PEDs with humans, you have 'PEDS-humans since this is the case in the 21st century where consuming artificial chemicals is the norm. Since this current planet Earth in the 21st century is mainly artificial and unnatural. So pretty much every one living on planet Earth in the 21st century, especially in 1st or 2nd world countries are also PED enhanced in one way or another. Not just Povetkin! Why am I debating with someone who thinks that everyone on the planet is PED enhanced.
You are an idiot of the highest order.
What Povetkin wants to do or not, is entirely his own decision. I'm merely stating my opinion on this match up between Povetkin and Joshua being a disgusting / gruesome mismatch and such mismatches should be condoned in boxing. That's all!
You need to improve your IQ a little more, you imbecile!
You piece of shyt. You just hating on Povetkin because he's Russian. Fcking racist scumbag!
you know what PEDs are. You know what Povetkin is. Put em together and what do you get?clue - its not the russian olympic squad.
thats my name, dont wear it out.
none of these yet. Laughable that you think ortiz is elite. Your posts are a joke by your own hand, I didnt need to write a thing.
and short HWs have been koing tall ones well before you were even conceived, so your opinion isnt important on that.

And by the way, I like your 'DreamFighter' name. Suits you very much! Represents you very well!
Luis Ortiz is the greatest southpaw heavyweight of all time. There never existed a southpaw quite like Luis Ortiz before. In fact, there aren't too many, if any heavyweight boxers that existed in history like Luis Ortiz, period! Luis Ortiz is an anomaly!
And aren't you the same poster who previously stated that Wilder beating Povetkin would be a good win. Even though Wilder already defeated Luis Ortiz (an astronomically better heavyweight than Povetkin)? Were you in anyway trying to imply that Alexander Povetkin is anywhere near as good as Luis Ortiz? LMFAO! Now that's what I call 'laughable'!
Short heavyweights in ancient times were relevant. In the modern super heavyweight era since the early 2000's, short heavyweights have become irrelevant. They have been unable to dominate. Simply because it's impossible when elite giant super heavyweights taller than 6 foot 3 inches are around. No heavyweight in history would be favoured to beat Deontay Wilder. And very few, if any would be favoured to defeat Luis Ortiz. These are cold facts! You need to accept them somehow and find a way to move on!
If you like Povetkin let him make some money you little troll.

Is that a 'dream fighter' you've just conjured up in your dreams? Since I don't know who that is. thats my name, dont wear it out.
shorter than 6 foot 4 inches would be a favourite to beat modern top / elite super heavyweights that are 6 foot 4 inches or taller in height as far as I'm concerned. Elite super heavyweights such as the Klitschkos, Anthony Joshua, Luis Ortiz, Tyson Fury and etc. none of these yet. Laughable that you think ortiz is elite. Took meldonium when it was legal. And could say the same thing about a fat old ortiz, who's the only decent win on mr tomato cans record.lmao.
He took Meldonium when it was legal and then illegal...the ****en bigheaded coward.
Damn, they dug up a 39 year old Headvetkin lmao. Mr Ostarine and Meldonium man lmao.

Are you a Russian by any chance?
I don't hate Povetkin or Russians. Nor am I racist. In fact, I like Povetkin. Which is why I want this bout to be condemned. Since I don't want to see Povetkin getting slaughtered like an animal at the hands of a British warrior in Anthony Joshua and then further shaming and disgracing his Russian people / fans. Especially when it's right before the world cup 2018 football taking place in his home country of Russia.

This retard still making threads hating on Povetkin? What he ever did to you? Or you racist against Russians?

I think povetkin can KO joshua if he lands right
So no. it's not that bad. There are far worse fights than this. this will be ok, it could actually end up being a war
out of all the fights to hate--THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM
I think Joshua would beat Povetkin, not just easily, but disgustingly, gruesomely and gorily because of his insane size advantage (and other advantages).
Which is why I believe this bout is an insane mismatch of epic proportions in favour of Joshua. In actual fact, I think this bout is one the biggest mismatches in boxing history.
I really don't get why people try to turn people into world beaters and absolute opposites. What does it achieve?
Let's be realistic here, Joshua has 3/4 out of the 4/5 belts; he didn't do that in one single fluke - he earned them across several fights. You don't do that by having 'no inside game', 'glass chin' etc; he clearly has good attributes. He also has clearly been learning fight by fight, but comparing him to the Whyte fighting particular is silly because he performed out of emotion rather than his usual technique, and has clearly learned from it.
Similarly Povetkin clearly can punch, he showed that once again against Price - and at that time he had taken some heavy shots from Price so proved he can do it under pressure too. He has fought decent opposition before also, stopping Takam in 10, lasting the distance against Klitschko, etc.
These two clearly have the best resumes in the division so don't really understand anyone who can argue conclusively that one will easily beat the other. I personally think Joshua will win but I'm not naive enough to think Potvetkin doesn't have a chance, he clearly does.
Edit: I clearly didn't use the word clearly enough so clearly thought I better edit the message to ensure clearly was added enough times :)

Usyk. He has genuine elite win, without peds. pedvetkin has one but its ped based.

I give 'small / short heavyweights' less than 10% chance at beating modern elite / top super heavyweights.

Who has Joshua even 'gruesomely' and 'disgustingly' beat in his pro career? The guy's record is full of premature, nonsensical stoppages which requires the referees to prematurely intervene during his fights. I don't understand why this question would even need to be asked. Since Joshua has already failed to gruesomely and disgustingly defeat farinferior opponents to Povetkin. If anything, it's Anthony Joshua's punching power which is 'gruesomely' and 'disgustingly' overrated!
In a fair fight with fair officiating, I can see Povetkin winning by decision or by late stoppage. Povetkin has improved his skills and tactical abilities, since his loss to Wladimir Klitschko. Povetkin could very well outwork and outlast Joshua to a points win, or even a late stoppage. It all depends on how much energy and intensity Povetkin has left in his older years. If he has a proper training camp and is in the best physical condition for the fight, I can see him winning. Otherwise, Joshua should be the slight favorite.
Please! A washed up, 38 year old pudgy Povetkin looked faster in his last fight than prime Anthony Joshua did, despite Joshua looking like a physical specimen. Joshua looked slow, robotic, stiff and clumsy in his last fight.
Joshua failed to body bag far inferior opponents than Povetkin. Even Wladimir Klitschko has an inferior to chin to Povetkin, but Joshua still failed to cleanly KO, never mind body bag this chinny Wladimir Klitschko who had already been stopped far more brutally in far less time by other heavyweights.
Povetkin has never been stopped in his entire life. Out of his amateur boxing + pro boxing + kickboxing career combined, consisting of over 200 bouts. And he is currently 38 years old. Good luck in Joshua body bagging someone of that caliber when he couldn't even body bag Povetkin's leftover in Carlos Takam and other far inferior opponents overall, and in terms of punch resistance.
Wlad was finished when he fought Joshua. He was a shot fighter and had no stamina or energy left after the midpoint of the fight. Just like how other past heavyweight champions were finished by the age of 41. It speaks volumes that Joshua needed to foul to even drop Wladimir Klitschko twice and couldn't even keep him down. It's unlikely Joshua will do anything remotely close to what you're predicting he will do to Povetkin, when he failed to do such a thing to past inferior opponents.
Lol pretty much this..
AJ is too big, too fast, too skilled.
I can't see anything other than AJ bodybagging him
Wlad is universally seen as one of the top 10 hardest punching hws ever and even though he dropped Joshua he got up and walked through Wlads fire.

Sasha can move and Joshua can't fight inside. Any decent heavyweight can beat Joshua with fair judges and ref. Just like he can beat any of them. The heavyweight division is a dumpster fire of mediocre.
