Showtime has the option to match any offer than any other TV network makes.
But this Sunday it will have been 3 weeks since the fight was announced.
I'm starting to think that maybe it is not a given that Showtime gets the fight.
Who knows, HBO might have made a huge bid for the might?
He has an obligation to his fighter to maximize revenue. If therere was a streaming platform offering more than Showtime or HBO, he would take it, but that isn't the case.
That's lovely, but the future is the future. Today is today. Today, there isn't a streaming platform offering more money than premium cable.
Doesn't change the economics of the situation.
Very true, and eventually a streaming platform may want to spend the money for big time boxing, but that time isn't now.
Yeah I get it, I think they're waiting until for it to become more Lucrative to do so before jump to those Platforms
Surprise Eddie Hearn is not trying to do something NEW with AJ instead of continuing the same damn format.

The future is in STREAMING it is not with Showtime, HBO or even Network TV but Streaming

Youtubers did a boxing event and live streamed it for free yesterday and it reached 1 Million+ Live Views and last time I checked the Total Views for that Videos was something crazy like 15 Million views in less than 24 Hours

Boxing is missing out on young audience because a young Audience is not watching TV as much anymore they're literally on Social Media and Youtube ALL DAY!

No one in boxing is taking advantage of that yet really. I see TR is making moves with it & others are too, but no one is big on it cuz the big money isn't really there just yet. So til the money follows along idk that you can fault Hearn or anyone else with not latching their wagon to that quite yet.
It is coming doe. You are obviously correct there.
I think Eddie spoke on this now that I think back, he said TV Money is what keeps a lot of these Promoters Lights on Especially in America and he is right

The future is in STREAMING it is not with Showtime, HBO or even Network TV but Streaming, preferable on youtube. Dorticos vs Gassive was great on youtube, the Chat was Cool as well beside a few trolls who post racist stuff for attention.

Joshua/Klit is a non-American fight, Wilder is American. So that is quite significant.
True, but I doubt that Showtime is paying the same for a Wilder fight, than HBO did back in the days for Wladimir Klitschko's fights.
HBO loved to promote the Klitschkos because they were heavyweights presumably so that would be my bet. Edit - Dan Rafael article from 1-8 says,
"Higgins said that one element that has not yet been settled -- though it isn't an issue between him and Hearn -- is the American television rights.
Showtime, which has been televising Joshua fights, has a matching right for one more of his bouts under its expiring contract. HBO has had major interest in Joshua, has an exclusive contract with Hearn fighter Daniel Jacobs and televised Parker's title-winning fight against Andy Ruiz in December 2016. Top Rank's Bob Arum, who co-promotes Parker, would like to bring the fight to ESPN as part of his long-term deal with the network.
"The discussions for the American television broadcaster are going on right now, but the fight will have a major television outlet in the United States," Higgins said."
Yeah just like the Joshua vs. Klitschko the US TV didn't get settle like 7 days before the fight.
Don't think US TV will be an obstacle like it was for the Lewis vs. Tyson fight.

I think Showtime has the bigger boxing budget now.
I dont know if they have the bigger boxing budget. But they sure have spend a lot of money for the upcoming fights, compared to HBO.
Thats why HBO have more money to spend now. Because they dont have spend any.
Showtime's nut is Wilder-Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight championship; outside of HBO doing something silly, like putting up $10m for the US rights to Joshua-Parker (which Showtime/CBS likely still considers eating the L on), the fight will end up on Showtime.
No idea what the hangup is about, but the deal will likely get done
Yeah HBO would have to put up a crazy bid to secure the fight.
Wilder-Ortiz is going to be shown here live on skysports, they are building that fight to happen here. Like I have said previously if both Joshua and Wilder win their fights then there is more chance of their match up happening in the UK- Moneywise as American networks aren’t prepared to spend a lot.

I think the Joshua-Klit fight didn't even have a US network until like 2 weeks out. Doubt HBO makes a push this time and Showtime will pick it up.
Thats was because Klitschko had an deal with HBO and Joshua with Showtime.
When Joshua vs. Pulev was done it was like 10 days and Showtime had the rights for the fight.
HBO really don't have a big stable anymore. It would be foolish for them not to bid for the fight.
Unless they are getting out of boxing.
