dorticos throws the same combo over and over again- jab followed by some variation of his right, mostly the straight. very rarely throws a lead right hand. shockingly repetitive.
here are a couple fights. am i missing something? dorticos looks extremely basic to me.
gassiev is an improving fighter with great power. gassiev wins via ko easily.
bookies have this about a 60-40 fight for gassiev ,
i made the thread because i think this is such a good bet .mismatch imo.
I have only seen a handful of his fights, but I think you're absolutely right. Dorticos appears to have really bad timing, I think that might be behind the reluctance to chuck a lead right. He's just clunky. Nothing flows. Against a blown up, shorter super-middle like Miranda and a one dimensional guy like Kalenga he should've been able to force the lead right over the top for some damage. And Kudryashov had such a limited tool box, Dorticos didn't punch nearly confidently as he looked like he ought to have. Don't get it.
Gassiev TKO 7-9.
Dunno about massively overrated, barely anyone even knew who he was until the WBSS.
i wouldnt be shocked if he knocked Gassiev out, i still favour gassiev to win. but im not hugely confident as jas seems to be. don't put your mortgage on it mate :lol1:
I've been wondering where you've been the last couple days partner, have you seen the fight we are getting on the undercard??

What makes this fight so difficult to predict, is that both guys have really only had 2 fights at world level. One where they each blew their opponent out with their significant power and the other where they had to dig deep against adversity to get the win. My feelings about Briedis/Usyk were correct so I'm sticking by my instincts in this one too. Gassiev seems difficult to hurt and I'm worried about his potential body shots on Dorticos, but I think he will struggle to get in range of Dorticos while he lands those 1-2's on Gassiev's easy to find head. Could certainly go either way, but I'm definitely leaning Dorticos right now.

How dare you talk like that with your somewhat primitive knowledge.
The way Dorticos sets up his right hand with the jab and finds openings is amazing. He throws it to the head, straight to the body and wide to the ribs as well.
With accuracy and power. And Dorticos throws good uppercuts with his right, too.
The offensive arsenal he has really isn't his limit.
Are you calling me a dinosaur?
Yeah this isn't punch out an actual functioning human being learns how to deal with a repetitive 1-2. And what execution? You know that fighting cans that act like heavy bags are wildly different from fighting live bodies right?

Wow, shocking, a boxer throws the best possible combination - jab followed by the right, mostly straight, absolutely shocking.
Seriously, Dorticos has weaknesses, mainly his inability to get out of range combined with low hands and fairly poor stamina but his punch selection and execution are better than those of 90% of high level pros out there.
I pick Gassiev to win but it's not an easy fight and Gassiev has to be careful not to get knocked out early.

He's appears quite basic for sure though there's quite a lot of variation on that right hand its very educated.
I'm not 100% sold on his chin or stamina but those solid fundamentals can serve him very well against a rather green pressure fighter who often struggles to get off and has no head movement. Its steady pressure but Gassiev is one paced and imo a bit of a one dimensional left hook artist.
I think he needs to get off first, keep it simple, keep it long.
Keep Gassiev on the end of that long, stiff jab.
If he has the tank I feel he can potentially outbox Gassiev rather easily. He is by far the better boxer.
That said I'm not sure who I like to win both still have a lot to prove. Stylistically I favour Dorticos but his stamina is questionable along with his chin, its a tough one.

He's repetitive, but so was Kelly Pavlik - and not to say he was ATG, but he was really good because just like Dorticos - he was bold, big, rangy, fit and tough.
Gassiev is "my turn, your turn" type of fighter, he's stationary and shorter - and Dorticos straight shots are precise.. When he'll be first to punch, I don't think Gassiev will be able to get to him or time him...
I still go with Gassiev, because Dorticos gives you opportunities - and Murat hits like a mule, but I don't think it's good match-up for Gas at all - and if Dorticos fights disciplined fight, I could very well see him outboxing Murat with nothing but 1-2 - over and over.

As long as Gassiev isn’t caught/hurt early, I’m convinced he starts to beat up Dorticos and stops him in the mid rounds.
