I've heard some people claiming that Ortiz is between 45 and 48 years old.
Complete rubbish.
His official age is 38 years old and his amateur record proves that to be correct.
His first major amateur tournament was the Cuban Nationals in 2002 when he was 23 year old.
2002 Cuban National Championships (Playa Giron Tournament) Silver medalist in Las, Tunas (95kg):
Defeated Michel Lopez RSC 2
Lost to Odlanier Solis 3:9
Ortiz started his amateur career as a teenager and amassed an amateur record of 349-19 before turning Pro at 30 years old in 2010.
At 8.05 mins of this video, you can see Luis Ortiz at 26 years old from an amateur fight in 2005. He clearly looks like a man in his 20's.
I don’t give a damn about those amateur fight dates, etc.. that mofo looks at least 42-43 imo. And we all know darker skin holds off age better
Yeah there is no phucking way that he is 38/39, I know am not older than that guy. For a sport athlete to also be on blood pressure meds at his mid-30s doesn’t make any sense. Am saying this not to discredit Wilder if he beats Ortiz. But to actually give people like Ortiz and Sam Peter credit for fighting younger fighters who we know are like 15 years younger than them.
I'm not saying Ortiz is old, but when VADA want to take a blood and urine sample from him..they just ring out his underwear.

That’s pretty amazing. He could pass for over 30 in that pic. Blessed with exceptional athletic ability, but got the short end of the stick in another department. Lol
I always thought Lebron looked really old. He just has an old looking face. Same with Ortiz...., or maybe the PED use has prematurely aged him. :omfg:
Yeah, I was shocked when I first found out how old LeBron was. But I think Oden has him beat. Lol
Who said that?
Several, posters suggested Rigo may be older than 37 and how he was old regardless. Devil is one of those posters crying about Rigo being too old at 37, but I'm not seeing him or any of the other Loma haters saying Ortiz is too old at 38.
People can say whatever they want but it is well known that boxer like Ortiz, Sam Peter, Rigo, Ike Quartey, Clottey etc reduce their ages. For me there is no issue with that and more power to them, but all the point like taking meds for blood pressure at “38” for a sportsman definitely points towards him being older than that age. This has nothing to do with Wilder, even before this fight was talk about people were talking about Ortiz real age.

I wouldn't be surprised if you told me that guy was over 50.
Anybody remember what LeBron looked like when he started playing in the NBA? The kid was 19, and looked much older. By the time he was 23, he could easily pass for thirty. Shit, Even now, at only 33, he could pass for 40. Apparently a lot of you guys think it’s the same with Ortiz. And, as with LeBron, Luis is actually the age he says he is. Dudes need to drop this non-issue. All the evidence you can possibly find is out there. I don’t see anyone producing evidence to the contrary.

Fair play to Ortiz for putting it in the contract that his younger brother gets a spot on the undercard though :

Donald Trump's advisor Stephen Miller is only 33 years old.

People still talking about a fighter's age? I'd rather talk how they look in the ring no matter how young or old they are.
The rate fighters see action in the ring today, age is not a good indicator of their ability.
