First I have to admit I barely watched Saunders Lemieux fight the first time, eyes were moving back and forth.
After watching it again, i have to say - Guys, I take it all back. What was i thinking? Saunders didn't run in that fight, it was a boxing masterclass. Lemieux was outbox left and right, it was fascinating to watch.
The only time Saunders ran was when he was making sure his back wasn't against the ropes which is acceptable and that was the early rounds of the fight and rounds 11 and 12 if you badly want to criticise him.
The counter right jab or whatever that is, was amazing, making Lemieux stumble across the ring like his legs were shackled. Lemieux had no response.
In the 8th round, Lemieux looked mentally and physically beaten. It was like he just wanted to go home. Too funny to watch.
There was a moment in the 9th round were Lemieux lead with the left foot, then switched to the right foot, then just plain squared his feet - forget throwing a punch, he couldn't even stand right. I would have taken over the fight from Saunders and still won.
That was perfection, slick boxing.
So when does GGG go for the WBO belt he always wanted or is it a seasonal dream? Canelo seasons only.
Definitely a career best performance, and the ease with which he beat lemieux drew more criticism for lemieux than praise for saunders. Not so long ago there were people on here who thought lemieux would trouble GGG. BJS deserves credit.
If Rigo - Donaire is on the list then Saunders- Lemieux should be also. Donaire is not better than Lemieux, he was just more hyped up due to the whole Pacquiao factor and Arum is a damn good sales man.
Caveman Lemieux is how I see GGG too and I see Saunders having the same performance against GGG who can also be outboxed.
Saunders is a better boxer than Jacobs and has no stamina issues like Canelo and that stamina issue was what killed Canelo in that GGG fight.
lmao, dude just stop.
Yes, it was like a masterclass because of how effortless he made it look against a dangerous puncher like Lemieux, but master class performances are like the ones you mentioned with two grade-A fighters. I'm mystified, did GGG get this many accolades when he steamrolled Lemieux? I dont remember people raving this much. By the way, BJS as a champion, is EXPECTED to win this way. It's what he was supposed to do.
Are you kidding me? People went nuts before and after the fight. I didn't singup on the forum but I have been coming to this site since 2009 or so.
GGG fans reminded everyone of the fact Lemieux is a heavy punching champion and when GGG won, they didn't let any one breathe. It was showers of praises that continued even when Lemieux KO'd Stevens.
He looked great but I don't think it's fair to call that a master class, those are reserved for fighters dominating world class fighters.

Caveman Lemieux is B level, it's a good win but let's now go blowing it out of proportion like BJS had that performance against GGG/Canelo.

It was a great win for Saunders and he didn't run. He just gave Lemieux a boxing lesson. GGG wants the rematch with Canelo the most but if that fight falls through Saunders would be his second choice. Saunders may end up having his choice of fighting GGG or Canelo. GGG gave Saunders a bad beating. He won every round by a wide margin and hardly got hit at all and he knock Lemieux out.
Fantastic Performance by Billy Joe Saunders. Possibly the best Pure Boxing performance of 2017. When you box to such a degree, boxing becomes like poetry and is still as entertaining as any slugfest you see.
It's also made him an international star, especially in America with guys like Joe Rogan and Mayweather gushing about him.
Someone needs to make a gif of Lemieaux's big swing and a miss, and Saunders shading his eyes to look out into the rafters. :lol1: That was pretty good.

Thought Saunders had lost his desire but he seems to have got the spark back, just hope he keeps it up now - only thing holding him back is himself
Getting rid of Tibbs was a bad move, I thought, and Booth was all wrong for him - then there were those training videos where he looked like a slug. Ingle seems to have harnessed the love of boxing for Saunders again, let's hope it lasts
Skillwise I honestly think the guy might be a top p4p fighter he certainly could be from a talent perspective. He's very good when he's on point its just a shame you only really see it in glimpses or for a few early rounds.
Hopefully he doesn't live off that one great performance and he continues putting the hard work in and living upto his potential & hopefully his close friend Tyson Fury can take a leaf out of his book if its not too late.
I like him, I even like his outspokenness its frustrating as hell watching him scrape by on pure talent against guys that frankly don't even belong in the same ring because he can't be arsed training or eating correctly.
I think if he continues taking his career seriously he may well be the best MW out there, certainly in that discussion.
If he's in shape he's a problem for anyone and that includes GGG, Canelo, Andrade, Charlo
It was a very good performance. It's easy to say it's easy to outbox Lemieux, and it's true in some respect but it's only true if you're operating at a high level in the first place. No average or just good fighter is going to do that to Lemieux.
Saunders will be a nightmare for any current MW if he stays in shape and dedicated. The good thing about Saunders is that he isn't just slick, he does seem to want to hurt opponents and can fight it out when he has to. He doesn't have a high knockout % but you can see he can crack a bit if he sits down on his shots. Nobody will be walking through his shots.
He's never been dropped either or even hurt. Seems to have a very solid chin.
Yeah that was sweet science 101, he even stun/hurt Lemule on a number of occasions. Am I shock about that performance nope! Why because we have seen him do this before over here, the issue was his commitment before this.
