Canelo improves with a lot every fight. I thought he beat but Lara is a hard fight for anyone including Saunders. I didn't think Khan gave him much trouble. I had Canelo well in front when he knock Khan into next week with one perfectly timed bomb. There was never a doubt Canelo would KO Khan it was just a matter of what round. Khan shot his wad early and might have won an early round or two but Canelo took his time, hurt him to the body and finished him before the fight was half over. Saunders gives Canelo a good fight but Canelo is much faster and smarter than Lemieux. I think Canelo wins either on points or by KO. Canelo has an iron jaw. He won't respect Saunder's power and back peddle like he did with GGG. He will hurt Saunders with the same blistering combinations he used on GGG and Saunders can't take a punch the way GGG can.
Canelo is a flat flooted fighter he tried to move against GGG not his style.Canelo is better at fighting movers than moving away from opponents.Canelo-Saunders is a 50/50 close decision win either way
I'm glad im not the only one who thinks Canelo hasn't improved intrinsically. He was matched with worse opponents like Kirkland, Angulo, Khan, and Chavez Jr. And he looks invincible against that kind of opposition. With GGG he was running all night potshotting but barely moving Golovkin. Against BJS he's going to get embarrassed just like with Lara and Mayweather.
Its like one guy says something and the parkeets go into song with how Canelo has improved. It's not real and super annoying. Look at the Khan fight. Same dang mistakes he's been maing since I started watching him 10 years ago (José Cotto).
I gave the first three rounds to Khan (if I'm not mistaken). He was getting out pointed and out hustled. If Khan could have kept him off for the duration at that pace, he could have sinched it. Imagine if Canelo lost to Khan, eek.
I thought Angulo and Kirkland (moreso) were legitimate threats and was impressed with Canelo in those fights. Chavez Jr. was an obvious smash and grab.
Bold claim that he has gotten worse, obviously disagree. I think there has certainly been a marked improvement in quite a few areas.
The pot shot theory is pretty inaccurate as well, considering the Angulo fight. He has good singles for sure and has developed that part of his game, which is important as you step up in level. Top fighters tend not to get hit with combo after combo. But he still has them and for sure has used them in most of his fights.
Agree that this is a good fight, probably a tight fight. I think BJS boxing ability and dimensions cause some serious problems for Canelo. At this stage it's hard to pick a winner, now BJS is properly motivated and is preparing the right way, it's hard to gauge where his ceiling is.
More specificially, I think the complacency and pot-shotting hurts him. He's at his best when he throws combinations. Also, his tempo STILL hasn't changed. He still throws most of his combo's on death ray settings. This is a basic feature every fighter needs to break out of to get to that next level. Honestly, it's somehtng you fix in the Am's, like 3rd year in the latest you should have solid tempo settings.
I are you implying that pot-shotting is a graduation for boxers as they get older?
Canelo stops BJS or beats him in a close one. BJS looked like a million bucks but that was against caveman Lemieux who was destroyed in better fashion by GGG and lost to guys like Alcine and Rubio. Not sure why everybody is putting so much stock in that fight. Would like to see BJS sack up and fight Jacobs to give us a clearer idea where's he really at.
Exactly. He looked impressive against Lemieux but.. It was Lemieux. Canelo would have looked great against him too and possibly stopped him
Need to see more victories from Saunders against good opponents before making too rash decisions. It doesnt mean that Saunders isnt great, who knows, but we need better matches for him to give us a better chance to judge him. I really doubt he would beat Canelo. But anyways, let us hope that he will get a fight next that is great on paper
This is a really good fight and hard to pick a winner on neutral ground.
Contrary to popular belief, I don't see these mythical improvements everybody thinks they're seeing after the Mayweather fight. Canelo makes the same mistakes and actually has gotten worse since losing to Mayweather. He just seems to pot shot now. I guess Floyd left some everlasting marks on the kid.
Saunders would be forced to fight more though I think. Not sure if he can handle the pace he would need to outpoint Canelo.
I would love to see this one in the UK of all places. I think Canelo's reach in the US is too strong, they need to get him over the pond for something resembling a neutral score. Canelo's people will still have the fix in, but the UK likes to protect their people too so it's even there moreso than in the States.

If he can do what Lara did except with less running and more punching done he could win
I thought Lara edged Canelo but Im not sure if BJS is as gifted as Lara

Probably Canelo. Saunders is good but probably a cut below elite. Nobody would be picking Saunders to win if the Lemieux fight didn't happen. Truth is Lemieux is just not good. At all.

I think canelo would go to billies body
Competitive fight if in the U.S Billie would get robbed. IN England billie he edges a close decision
I think billie length and style would be a nightmare for Caneo in general
