What ya think?
Who's the p4p 1? Because nobody else deserves to be in the running at this point the way these 2 have looked recently.
Interesting. So out of curiosity, who is p4p #1 iyo then?
I don't know I think with the retirement of Mayweather it was easy to put Ward there now the retirement of Ward there's a void for a clear #1
A case can be made for several fighters and the dust probably won't be settled until the end of 2018 but there's about 5 names I think could make a claim it all have big question marks
Crawford looks unstoppable but he moved to 140 when it was the worst division in the sport and beat really no one. If he can move up to WW and beat Spence or Thurman winner it's him but with resume right now while he looks good it's to early
Loma could be but he moved up to 130 when 126 became stacked, he has a great win over GRJ , but Walters was inactive and Rigo as someone pointed out is basically the age of a dinosaur in those weight classes small and inactive.
Top Rank A-side fighters never really fight in 50/50 fights there's always a advantage they have. So while they usually look great it tougher for me to say they're #1 because they always have all the breaks
GGG - ran through the MW but the elites didn't want to face him untill this year I wouldn't have a problem giving Jacobs the decision but Danny got KD so him actually getting the decision wasn't going to happen. I think he convincingly beat Canelo and getting a draw in Vegas is the equivalent to a win against Canelo but he appears age maybe catching up to him and MW is heating up so I don't know if he gets through 2018 unscathed
Thurman / Spence - right now the top dogs in the WW division which is the best and Thurman has the better resume but has looked human recently and is somewhat inactive and now injured. Spence while is running through everyone passing the eye test his best win is a previously face broken Brook.
Mikey Garcia - people don't give him enough credit and he can make a claim . He blitzed through Salido ( something Loma couldn't do ) and Martinez. When he came back he ran through a undeafted champ who had beat burns ( Indongos best and only decent win ) and moved up in weight and pitched a shutout against Broner something no other non WW has been able to do
If you want to crown someone now I guess Crawford/Loma/Mikey but none of them have earned it
I think by the end of this year when there's a king of the WW and see what Loma and Mikey do there be some clarity of who actually deserves it
Do you rate Errol Spence Jr? He beat a guy who got his face caved in and now he's fighting a guy off a year layoff also Thurman fights once a year. Canelo usually has one throw away fight a year out of his two fights. GGG was fighting 3-4 times a year until recently but it was against sub par competition. It's the state of boxing nowadays. Guys fight twice a year like they're superstars.
I agree with you on everything but at least with Canelo , Thurman they'll go in fights where they have to face adversity and aren't the run away favourites unlike Top Rank fighters so I think that should hold more weight and Spence most would pick to beat Thurman so he should be in the discussion
I just think TR have great match making but that doesn't mean because they look great doing it they are the #1
All of this is just my opinion so when it comes to P4P #1 it's all subjective
But right now I don't think anyone's earned that crown yet
Theres not much in it but Crawford has unified his division and looked spectacular, plus he has the better all round game and can out point or KO guys. I just hope he changes his mentality and becomes a better finisher.
Loma has a little catching up to do.
I had Crawford before Saturday, now it's Loma. That was an emphatic win.
I think Loma needs to be looking at Mikey, and TC can get over the top by establishing himself at 147 as a champ and then beating 1 or 2 of the big names, ie. Garcia, Porter, Spence, Thurman.
The only boxers between 130 and 147 that IMO could beat Loma are Mikey, Crawford and Spence given the size advantage they would have.
I think Loma will have to move up because he is low reward, VERY high risk and I think it will be tough for him to get big fights.
I really wish Floyd, Duran and Loma were all in their primes in at 135. Would love to see any combination of these 3 fight.
You're joking right? He doesn't stand a chance against any of the other 147 pounders either. Including Keith Thurman, Amir Khan, Kell Brook (when he was still there), an old Manny Pacquiao, Jeff Horn, Shawn Porter, Ruslan Provodnikov, Danny Garcia and etc. Lomachenko should stay below 140 pounds at all costs and then retire. He has almost no chance of beating any of those boxers. If he fights Mikey Garcia, then it'll most likely be his final fight of his career. So I doubt he would take him on any time soon because his boxing career will be cut short.
Loma. But, if Crawford starts dominating at 147, it will be hard for Loma to find enough relevant, top quality fighters to stay ahead of Crawford, P4P. Was thinking about that this weekend and it'll be interesting to see over the next couple years.
Seems to me that Arum is not afraid to put LOMACHENKO in tough fights. He threw him in with Salido in fight 2. Russel Jr not far after that, Walters now Rigo. Crawford fought who he could at 140 but they didn't seem to,go out their way to make any big fights along the way. We'll see at 147 but I'm skeptical

I think through 140 he's not gonna lose. I like Garcia but hes pretty straight forward technically amazing but as Floyd would say no special effects. I think Loma can out work him esasily as long as he doesn't get sparked.
147 I don't know. Even thinking of someone like Porter coming after him could be bad. He'd walk through everything he gets hit with and chase him down and make it dirty as fk and rough him up. They all get power and chins at the top of 147. I'd stay far away if I'm Loma.
Yeah i think i agree with TC being number one. If they fought at 140 i think TC would be a little too much for loma with his length and power . If Loma gets a Mikey Garcia win then he moves clearly ahead cause Crawford won't be fighting any of the names at 147 anytime soon if Bob can help it. Horn and Pac are his plans
One thing though is the way Loma makes it look easy while TC gets in some dogfight at times.,still wins easily but Loma gets the style points

I'll go with Crawford primarily based on volume. In addition to the wins listed, Crawford's wins against Burns, Dulorme and Jean are solid and Beltran hasn't lost since he lost to Crawford and that win looks a lot better than people give credit for.
I think Crawford and Loma are ranked p4p more on "eye test" than resume. I would have Crawford over him given his length and size.
Loma said Crawford was #1 as well so....

Loma has 3 better wins and I'd say his 4th best win (Rocky) was perhaps better than anyone Bud beat outside of Postol, Gamboa, Diaz, Burns, Indongo, Beltran. Loma has the better top wins, Crawford perhaps a bit more but Loma has beaten more champions.
Didn't Burns beat Rocky Martinez?

Both are products of the TR match making to make them look like their the cream of the crop and levels above
Loma has better names. But both moved into absolutely weak divisions at the right times. Their big names usually guys coming off long layoffs or who have to move up in weight, coming off losses .
I think people should give more credit for who and when a fighter has names on their resume then the eye test

Gotta give it to Lomachenko right now. Crawford will have every opportunity to regain the throne with the opponents available at 147.
Oh no doubt..if top rank let him that is. We know were getting Jeff horn next then possibly shot to bits Pac..really too bad TC couldn't jump ship just to get those big names at 147 sooner
Loma has a better resume after the Rigo win. Loma also beat Russell Jr. and Walters. Other than the Postol win Crawford's resume isn't on that level. I don't really rate the Indongo win that highly although Crawford did make him look worse than he is.
