JAMES DEGALE will make a decision on his future in the New Year after his career was left hanging in the balance following a shock defeat by little-known Caleb Truax. The British super-middleweight surrendered his IBF title with a woeful performance against the American despite being 1/100 to win the fight at the Copper Box in London. Click Here To Read More]
160 is such a weak division said the ggg haters and now 2 160 fighters will be at the top of wards wasteland division
I had the image your 'meme' stuck in my head from round 5 onwards.
Degale has had a good career.
Olympic Gold Medalist at Amateur level and World Champion at Pro level.
Was never at Pound for Pound Top 10 level but he's had successful career and has nothing to prove to any one especially any one on this site.
I hope he retires and enjoys himself.
Very true. I dont see Degale being a elite fighter anymore but not alot of people can say that they have done what he has done.
Yes winning gold does not necessarily mean skilled in the pros, Zoo Shimming is a example, but James beat credible opponents and as I mentioned had competitive fights with some of the best @ 168 ; to effectively compete with the best in this particular division you have to have some talent and a high degree of skill.
I understand Degale had some rough nights lately, apparently hes on the decline and maybe hes not as able as he once was, perhaps Truax and Jacks style was all wrong for him, and maybe exposed James as a bit limited but I dont think hes average, George Groves got KTFO, Eubank Jr. got schooled by a middleweight Billy Joe...so who really is skilled? basically everyone has bad nights, is all I'm trying to say, I hope James don'tcan return to his winning ways.
I'm not saying he's a bum he's a good solid fighter and can compete with top guys such as Jack, Bute, Dirrell etc and win some and IMO lose some (Jack) but he's not elite I don't see his skill level or talent level being overly impressive as people have often suggested.
And for the record I don't consider Groves or Eubank overly skilled or talented either.
At the start of his Pro career ! I hated this guy Arrogant and very unlikable. I think his promotional team told him to Dilute his personality . Over the years he become more likeable . But in some interviews you can see he has not changed at all . To his credit he will fight anybody . Which is very rare . But he was very lucky in my eyes to still be a champion anyway . As Badu Jack was TOTALLY robbed in there fight . He has ok boxing skills . But alot of his punches are slaps and he has Bad cardio
Just because someone wins a gold doesn't mean they are overly talentes or overly skilled. There are a lot of medallists that aren't.
Degale is not that talentes or skilled, sorry he is just not.

Complete bullsh*t post, James is a olympic gold medalist, was rated #.1 by the major panels for the last two years, only loss prior to this one was by a point to now world champion George Groves, got a draw wit Badou Jack who beat George, never been stopped or lost a clear decision ; they were MD and a Draw, James is no bum and deserved credit for stepping up in America.

I used to dislike Degale intensely early in his career, he was entitled, egotistical and overated.
Sine he won the IBF strap I have warmed to him and he does seem to have grown up but...
He always spends too much time on the ropes during fights and I believed this would eventually be his undoing (combined with being physically fragile).
He is talented, but I doubt he will make a sustained comeback., which is a shame because there were good fights out there in Groves, Eubank et.
James Degale hugging the ropes all night should have been pointed out early by Jim. His corner also told him he was up when he wasn’t. He needs to fight the whole 3 mins and not in bursts.
This is what you call denial and delusion.
James Degale has fell into the trap of believing his own hype, people have this idea that he is overly talented and skilled when the fact is he is neither.
He's not very talented and he's not very skilled. He has shown it time and time again, there is not a single part of his game that is overly impressive. Add the fact that his punching technique is some of the worst I have ever witnessed.
He will never, ever be an elite fighter.

There is no shame to losing to Caleb Truax James, we all know hes better than the bums E.U bum jr. George Groves and Callum Smith have faced in this euro-bum tournament ; James 'Chunky' Degale was never appreciated despite stepping up in competition putting the sport first now these haters want to bring him down instead of acknowledging his courage fighting the top rated supermiddleweights and daring to be great in attempting to unify the division overseas.
Meanwhile E.U bum jr. got himself the IBO, Callum Smith ducked Dirrell and bum George Groves whos been KTFO years ago got lucky that the ref stopped the Chudinov fight when he had a broken jaw!
James Degale deserves respect.
Degale is a confidence fighter, he needs to hang em up now because he’ll doubt himself against anyone now, I was never really into his hype tbh but for the first time I think he isn’t either and that would be very dangerous against Eubank, Smith, Groves etc (his domestic paydays).
James DeGale is a deluded moron and Jim McDonnell has probably been blowing smoke up his arse the whole time. DeGale has that David Haye vibe going on were he decides how much work he's gonna put in on any given day. Not a lot of respectable coaches would put up with it. He doesn't have the discipline and his ego is too big. The Ingles would be a good fit I think. They'd get DeGale in top shape and they would nurture the unorthdox side to his game. He'd have to want it.
This is the absolute truth, he should’ve left Mcadonnell years ago. He is in awe of Degale and always sounds like still can’t believe he gets to be his trainer, he’s not a head trainer in a million years. Ingles are a decent shout, don’t think Degale has it in him to make that change and dedicate his whole life to boxing though, he enjoys going Faces and Sugar Hut with the TOWIE mob too much...

Great Post! I believe he underestimated Truax although I believe he may have comeback too soon. Degale has to want to improve and at 31 it maybe too late.
