Jose Napoles to me was perfect in every aspect, his only weakness seemed to be his paper thin skin, when you get to the level of these guys being mentioned though you're splitting hairs really, Duran, Charles, Spinks, Robinson, Monzon, Leonard, Jofre (admit he is a person favourite as well though), Roy Jones, Mayweather etc, it's difficult for me to pick one over the other.
I'm a huge Jofre fan. He's probably my favorite old-school fighter of all-time. I recently came across the full Jose Legra fight but have only found 4 full fights of his in about 17 years of searching.
Do you have any other full fights other than Harada I & II, Legra and Medel I? I've got a lot of highlights but **** out of luck finding full fights.
Holyfield is the answer if we are talking total package of balance of arsenal along with style bc he could fight in any direction and switch from aggressor to counter puncher as well ,had great hand speed and combination punching .
His ability to stay in the pocket with bigger punchers too is added here and he had great sense of position and timing when he used it . A dominant Cruiser fighter who also out fought top level HW's .He probably also couldve won a LHW title where he started off . He also was successful with multiple trainers , had he stayed with Steward after defeating Bowe who knows how his career pans out ?
Doesn't seem to get get enough mention when these threads pop up (Which is fairly common obviously), he's the Cruiserweight equivalent of what people makes Jones to be at Light Heavy, flawless.

ezzard Charles
Floyd mayweather
james toney
ray leonard
Salvador sanchez
ricardo lopez
willie pep
loma is amazing skill wise as well
im sure there are many more but there is no way to say who is the greatest
Ariel Hernandez - he was like a MW Rigondeaux with a great inside game.
Flawless footwork who moved elegantly like a ballerina, lightning fast reflexes, laser like accuracy with the touch of death in either hand. Absolutely unstoppable during the late 80s to mid 90s.
He just processed everything so quick you made any mistake you paid. Its a shame there's such limited footage considering his credentials.
Hernandez was a great fighter, he could have won a third medal in the 2000 olympics but he wasn't allowed to go to 81 kg.
In his own words he wasn't a good inside fighter but he didn't liked when people thought that they could brawl with him without consequences.
Hernandez about the WSB format: "Probably I would have done horribly since it looks more like pro boxing where you need to brawl more, but it is the real boxing".
I forgot about Duran. Maybe the best lightweight of all time. Still I can't pick a certain clear number 1 best boxer of all time. There are just too many great ones for me to be sure any one boxer was really better than all the rest.
I don't know. In the last 100 years there have been so many great ones. I liked the prime Roy Jones and the prime Jose Napoles a lot. Pound for pound Marciano was great. He was no more than a light heavyweight and beat Charles and Moore who both out weighed him when they fought. Of course Rocky was no highly skilled boxer. He was just a very rugged deadly puncher who had an iron jaw and endless stamina. He just kept throwing many bombs from the first bell until the end. Ray Robinson was great as was Henry Armstrong, Sam Langford and so many more. I can't pick a number 1.
Floyds right up there.
Mike McCallum also. One I feel that gets underlooked maybe because of his toughness is Holyfield he could do it all and was as complete as anybody.
Fighters like Duran and McCallum stick out to me as well. They could fight off the backfoot, counterpunch, get gritty and grimey, coukld fight on the outside or box to victory. Truly versatile and skilled fighters.
It's hard to narrow it down to most skilled. Offensive skill, defensive skill, brawling skill, technical skill etc;
I think of the last 10-20 years Lomachenko and Jones JR are two physical and athletic freaks of nature but I seems too soon to mention Loma and obviously Jones lacked a lot of fundamentals despite his insane talent.
I think Juan Manuel Marquez was an expert technician and master at countering, combinations and threw only beautiful punches. Alexis Arguello is another that springs to mind.
Roberto Duran could do it all and Floyd was a defensive wizard but perhaps didn't flash enough offense mostly to qualify.
I think Eder Jofre was about the perfect boxer from a technique standpoint. He really didn't waste any punches, could throw every punch expertly either as single shots, counter shots or in combinations. He also had good defense and was excellent on his feet and at controlling the distance.
Ezzard Charles, Sugar Ray Leonard, Jose Napoles all deserve a mention. There's many.
In boxing the the most skilled is also the p4p King and ATG.
Sugar Ray Robinson, the best welter & Middleweight of all time. Just ask the great boxers and trainers who's the best.
Experience, skill level, work rate, speed, power, tolerances,
desire, willingness can box and fight and a true two handed attack.
Ray
Roy Jones
He fought tall guys, big guys, small guys and beat them all
Floyd fought midgets his whole career
Pacquiao was amazing because he was successful against all types of opponents
Sugar Ray Leonard is another choice
Before I even start this post I GUARANTEE YOU people will misconstrue what "talent" and "skill" are.
I'll help. Talent is something you are born with, it is your natural ability to learn and perform A SKILL.
Skill is something attained, you attain a high proficiency of a skill with hours upon days upon weeks of practice, repetition, and consistency. You can be talented and not skilled. You can attain a skill without talent for it.
With that being said, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the most skilled fighter of all time. He did everything right, and it allowed him to continue at the very highest levels of the sport well past his prime.
In terms of pure athletic talent. Roy Jones Jr is the best I've ever seen so far. He boxed using his own invented unorthodox style which contradicted the typical textbook or fundamental way of boxing
In terms of combining athletic talent with the very best fundamentals and scientific boxing technique. Then for me, it's Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk. Both are as athletic as they come, but are technically the very best I've seen whilst being as athletic as they are.
Floyds right up there.
Mike McCallum also. One I feel that gets underlooked maybe because of his toughness is Holyfield he could do it all and was as complete as anybody.
