When weight drained your skills become like the way you teach boxing like crap . Why do you think Mayweather didn’t loose them 2 extra pounds when he fought Marquez . People who never box have no clue so they should keep their trap shut on things they have no knowledge in
I think people are putting too little faith in the Mayweather that fought McGregor. He was fighting a guy that was much bigger with a longer reach. Not to mention McGregor using a weird fighting stance unlike anything Mayweather faced in another boxer. McGregor used hammer fists, kept his long arms in his face, and consistently tried to take his back. And yet, when he figured it out, despite using little of his superior defense, he still landed enough punches to have McGregor reeling on the ropes. Despite all that, yes, Canelo the active fighter would be favored to beat the inactive Mayweather but no one expects the same guy that fought McGregor to show up.
Floyd didn't train any differently for the McGregor fight then he does in his everyday life. As to whether he would beat Canelo or not at this stage I would bet against it. Floyd stepping into the ring at this age and with the multiple retirements he's had is just courting disaster.
Very true, but Hopkins & Toney fought for so much longer you can't compare them to Floyd. Their careers were almost twice as long, both started in 1988, Floyd in 96, big difference there.
True, True but you see what i mean
No weight drains Canelo kills him. Had Canelo not excepted a 152 pound fight he probably would have beat him back than
Please explain how Canelo would have beat him last time when he was absolutely outboxed
Good question, Floyd being out of the game for a while and only spanking on McGregor since retirement, might be ripe for a plucking. But Canelo has looked disappointing to me most of the times I've watched him.
I think he still wouldn't be able to solve that defensive style that Floyd brings. It's a style that even older fighters can use well.
His defense requires reflex's that allow him to go from offense to defense,,That is what made Hopkins and Toney suffer later in their careers..getting hit with shots they didn't use to get hit with and not being able to react with their own counters
For anyone to ask if Canelo could beat a 40 year old retired Floyd speaks volumes.
Remember a past his best Floyd at 36 yrs old went up in weight and schooled Canelo, who had 40+ fights at the time. Enough said.

I can see why you are labeled a club Fighter stick to the minors
I'd back Canelo now. He's a top tier fighter and at his prime.
Mayweather is 40, retired and last fought in a real fight over 2 years ago. Age catches up on everyone.
Guy I saw against McGregor would be hard pressed to beat any of the top guys at 140 thru 154.
Floyd depends on his reflexes as well as his technical excellence for his defense and even tho he fought more offensively, it was clear that some of his natural gift has eroded a bit.
He won't be able to get out of the way of shots from the more elite guys.
you didn't understand my point....no surprise your level of comprehension is very low. i said prime floyd. who was prime floyd fighting??? guys like baldomir, sharmba, judah. yeah old floyd fought guys like old pac and drained canelo but he wasted his prime fighting crumbums then tried to make up for it by getting a bunch of names on his resume when he was old. unless you consider a drained 152 canelo some great win....informed fans can see through his bullsh-it resume. others....cannot.
i would understand old floyd fighting these big name fighters who werent very good if he had done something great in his prime....similar to how leonard fought old duran but difference is leonard beat a prime duran to go with it. with floyd...alas he did not. only has the old versions. thats where we return to he fought baldomir, mitchell, gatti, etc...a waste. even though prime canelo lost to ggg you still got to give him respect for trying.
Oscar,Hatton,Corrales,Castillo,Hernendez,Judah,Manfredy
Past his prime he fought
Cotto,Pacquiao,Canelo,Maidana,Mosley
But Floyd fought Canelo at 36, so your point doesnt really stand

floyds day was pretty sh-tty. fighting guys like baldomir and sharmba mitchell when he was in his prime :poke:. canelo meanwhile fights guys like ggg in his prime.

It's very possible. However, Floyd didn't take Conor serious and he carried him the entire fight cause Mac was no threat. He'll take Canelo super serious like the first time. Floyd just knows how to work Canelos style over, and I don't think Canelo has improved THAT much.
Floyd is the mf'n man but I can't see him beating any top welter except shawn porter. And that's ok because he's old af and gives up a lot of weight to face bigger opponents
Of course. Canelo is in his prime now and Mayweather looked awful in the MacGregs fight. Pushing his punches, getting his footwork tangled up. Getting hit far more than he used to. Mayweather is in his 40's and has been out of the game. People who think he's capable of beating Canelo today are fanboys who can't come to terms w/ the truth.
A better argument is whether the May who fought Berto could handle today's Canelo at 154. That's really up for debate.
Regardless, the best May beats the best Canelo. Even the not-quite-best May beats the best Canelo.
what about at 152???
Floyd is done..... every dog has his day
