CARL FRAMPTON knows what the reaction will be if he fails to make it back to the top. "If this part of my career doesn't go right people are going to say, You shouldn't have left the McGuigans'," he said. "I know exactly what they are going to say but, for me now and how I am with boxing at the moment, it was the right decision to make. Click Here To Read More]
I had a lot of respect for Barry McGuigan in the past, but that changed when he started promoting.
His behavior during the build up to the Quigg fight made him look like a retarded child seeking attention.
Frampton did the right thing, he was a meal ticket for Cyclone and they took advantage.
Josh Taylor should look elsewhere before the same thing happens to him.
The Mcguigans were bleeding Frampton dry, they were all on the payroll. It's well known that Quigg made a lot more money than Frampton in their fight despite being the B side.

Yeah....I remember when this was brought up in the pre fight press conference. Every single person in Ireland with the surname McGuigan was dipping into Frampton's purse. I mean, when you end up paying Barry's musician son who has a name like Blain a % then you know really have to reflect on whether this is the right approach.
They probably ended up trying to charge Frampton for the Gutierrez injury as well.
As for that picture in your quote...that nearly made me spit out my morning tea. Excellent.
I thought Shane was a good trainer until the lead up to the 2nd Leo Santa Cruz fight. Wrong approach altogether, saying Santa Cruz could only ever fight one way, and that's all they prepared for, then when Leo starts to box they're ****ing lost. I was so angry watching that fight. Bad attitude, stupid tactics. You could argue that a great fighter will always find a way, but I think that all that bull**** they were feeding him, building his ego, telling him he would easily outbox him the 2nd time round, nevermind winning Fighter of the Year all round, bad ****.
Nevertheless, Frampton is an elite level fighter. Great jab, power in both hands, footwork, smarts, heart, fluid movement - the one thing he lacks is a good engine. I mean he can go the twelve rounds all right, but he does gas, time and time again, has managed to get away with it so far. Watched him at the open workout today, hopefully he gets back in the mix next year, back where he belongs.
100%. He didn't have a clue what to do. Leo Santa Cruz was even telling him in the build up exactly what he was going to do. Frampton was not prepared to do anything differently, Shane didn't know how to prepare him.

Apparently they were skimming loads of money off fighters and Frampton found out, hence the split.
Interesting, never really thought much of Shane as a trainer. If he is doing this to his fighters then he and his father should rightfully be avoided like the plague.
Yeah I thought it was odd to just remove himself as director from a profitable business. It makes you wonder if they’re doing something untoward and he wanted to wash his hands of it.
Then again he maybe just wanted a clean break from everything.
Who knows. There seems to be more to it than just wanting a clean break though.
If that was it, he would say it but when he's done interviews with the likes of IFL, they have hinted at not talking about it as it's a sensitive issue, which means it goes deeper than just wanting a clean break and probably not talking about certain aspects for legal reasons.
I heard that it was from Frampton too, but obviously i don't really know. Those are the rumours which is why their relationship come to an end suddenly.
There was something shady about his last fight not taking place either. He never made weight, then his opponent pulled out the day before with some freak "shower accident" and then the next week Frampton has ended his business and working relationship with them.
Frampton wasn't just signed to them, he was a business partner at Cyclone and then he dissolved his business relationship with them suddenly. If they were skimming money, then either they were doing it to him or he didn't wanna be part of a business that were doing it to other fighters.

Was it from previous rosters and Franpton didn’t trust the ongoing relationship or Frampton was schemed as well, or Carl’s mgmt didn’t want to be associated around it?

The McGuigan's are quite narrow-minded in their view. I also think they take a massive percentage off fighters. Shane McGuigan is not a good trainer. He can learn his trade at Domestic and European level, but Elite level? Hell no. He will hinder George Groves too.
a match with Lee Selby is possible..now he's with frank warren..then the winner unifies with Leo Santa Cruz or Gary Russell Jr..just hope for his sake the new coach helps him get better
