Decent power, fast for a SMW, a southpaw and seems to have pretty good boxing skill
I think Groves will have a tough time with Jamie Cox
Eubank actually had a hard time against Allister Warren before he stopped him
Cox is pretty sloppy and gets cut/causes cuts due to head butts in a bunch of his fights. I can see a righty-lefty clash of heads that causes a cut on Groves, and f*cking with his game plan. A bad cut coupled with Groves needing a spectacular finish to stay on par with Eubank could make things interesting.
The only thing I know for sure about Cox is he comes to fight and he doesn't shy away from trading. It's going to be exciting while it lasts. He's like a cross between a poor man's Calzaghe and a very poor man's Manny.
I've only seen Cox once, in a Commonwealth LMW defence years and years ago and he looked appalling in struggling to a razor thin points win against a fringe contender for that title if I remember rightly.
As I said that was years ago. Since then he hasn't improved his level of competition and he's now 2 divisions north of LMW, fighting at SMW. Plus Groves looks a lot bigger (height and especially width) when they stand together and has been in great form recently.
I don't give him much of a chance based on all of that. I think if he goes in there aggressively looking to stamp his authority on the fight it could end early.
I've only seen the fight against rios and he looked like garbage in there.
He was always jumping in overreaching and then smothered his own punches up close. Also he fought dirty as hell from the beginning of the first round.
I really hope it won't go to something like a technical draw because of an early cut due to a headbutt.
Also groves was very honest and said he picked Cox, because he was familiar with him (they were roomies at one point) and considered him the weakest of all the unseeded guys.
