7 months is that enough time for such a injury to heal? What are the chances of it happening again?
Achilles' tendon rupture/repair needs a year at least for recovery particularly in an athlete who puts higher demands on his body than the average person. Hayes may be the exception but he should be cautious about getting into the ring too soon.
Haye's keeps talking about his Cuban coach and going back to the fundamentals. I think he might try and be more careful and box off the jab in this fight, if the opportunity is there of course he will load up that straight right though.
I don't think so. Not just the injury. But, I think the most damaging thing he did to himself was fight cans for several years while being a media diva. You can't just pop back in the ring the way you once were. The game passes you by if you don't remain active. You'll maybe get away with it in your 20's, but not in your 30's.
So, I'm not the only one that thinks this is too quick a comeback. I had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing the inside of Haye's achilles and it was literally mush. I don't know how he was standing at all in the first fight. I give Haye credit for heart and pain tolerance, but you can't heart your way through that. He needed MUCH more time off.
I was getting a lot of nervous energy from Haye in that presser
very little eye contact, lack of confidence.
I dont know anything about sports science but i know you cannot recover from that injury in less than a year.
It's his final payday. Its not just the Achilles, its the years and years of constant injuries, they take their toll. You will likely see Haye come out swinging like a drunkard cripple from the first round.
I once twisted my foot and it took 6 months to recover. Hayes Achilles looked like spaghetti, how on earth has he recovered from that
I feel he is going for broke here
It's tough to say unless there's actual footage of him at least sparring but yeah it does seem like a quick turnaround. Even if the achilles didn't blow up there's always other areas that he's had injured in the past could be messed up again.
I'd like to see him retire after Bellew win or lose. Injured Haye still probably has enough to beat Bellew since he clearly went into the fight injured and was comfortably winning 4-1 until he was pretty much disabled.
Haye's body is wrecked and he knows it.
He wants that Joshua payday and that's why he's fighting. I believe he already knows his body is wrecked but he thought he could get past Bellew with little trouble and land that AJ fight but we saw what happened and now if he wants that AJ fight, he needs to have that rematch first. He'll get that Joshua fight too if he beats Bellew next time and his body holds up. Haye is still a draw here in the UK whether people like it or not, possibly second to Joshua.
Haye is fighting for money and that's all, which is fine, but he's conning people saying he feels great etc. etc. He went through an expensive divorce apparently.

I assume he was told that, / to retire and he said something to the effect of:
' no do your best and try & patch it up, im doing 1 more...i need to pay off my divorce'
