In an article at Ring Magazine called describing the activities of Canelo inhis dressing room before the GGG fight. One sentence caught my attention.
"Canelo’s family and the members of his entourage who wouldn’t be in his corner left the room. Canelo hugged each of them as they departed. Then he put on his protective cup and trunks. Eddy Reynoso applied Vaseline to his face, arms and legs."
What the Hell! Now we may have a reason why Canelo gets so tired. As everyone knows vaseline blocks the bodies ability to breath and sweat. It can also lock in heat. Putting it on the arms and legs is just a major problem and should not be done.

It's obvious why he has piss poor stamina. It's because of the way he fights. He prioritizes way too much explosive moves with his combinations and defensive manuevers. He doesn't have the skill or calm cool temperament to fight in a phone booth, slipping shots by centimeters, with slight smooth calculations. Instead he uses every muscle in his body, from his feet to his head, to explosively make a quick strenuous move rather than a well timed smooth calculation that prioritizes conservative technical ability. IMO he's going to burn himself out and crash and burn the way he fights. Well unless he returns to 155. Beyond that though he won't last above 154, he just doesn't have that 3rd gear, let alone 4th or 5th gear to get the job done whether its winning every crucial exchange when behind on points or taking out a wounded opponent. He doesn't have that kind of power to continue being a defensive first guy.
this is basically it, in addition to genetics.
He's not blessed with the best stamina, there's only so much you can do about that, just like with power, hand speed, foot speed, chin, etc...
Someone also pointed out on another thread that he puts so much into every movement. Not just loading up on punches, but all his defensive manuevers as well. That takes a toll on your energy, and why he needs to fight at such a measured pace.
Candelita doesn't have a body structure conducive for continuous aerobic activity. She can do high intensity stuff, i.e. flashy combos that catch the eye but after a few of those, she's toast and needs 1:30 to recover. Packing on muscle to try and keep GGG at bay only compounded the situation.
The rematch will be a nightmare for Candelita. She hit GGG with her best shots and he laughed. In the rematch, he'll know that he has nothing to fear and he'll start chopping away at that body in rd 1; fight won't go 8 rds.
If Golovkin try to do that in the rematch he will left spaces and Canelo will ko him so bad
I don't think he puts in the road work. Also he puts all his power into every punch he throws which can tire most out. Mike Tyson did the same thing. I think he lacks power so he got to put everything into his shots to hit hard
This makes sense. Fighters normally use the Vaseline to help lose weight as it does raise the body temperature that's why swimmers use it before entering the freezing ocean . that compounded with his short and stocky frame I'm surprised he was able to fight the full 12 rounds with GGG
On the face yes, but not on the legs and arms. I recall Emmanuel Steward blaming Vlad's loss to Brewster on this very same reason.
Manny was against fighters getting masaged before fights too.
For an athlete it is just a bad idea to apply. They probably put it on his chest too. The science on this is pretty straight forward so i do not get why any trainer would risk his fighters performance by doing this. Vaseline is a sealant and to put it on limbs, trunk it is just insane.
A lot of fighters put vaseline on their body so punches roll off.

Yeah right....he like Cotto. No matter how good of a conditioning coach they get or how much work they do, genetically their stamina is just average and they tire out.
imho cotto did improve his stamina under McMillian...
canelo never had a real S & C coach before this fight, so who knows..
