Really big numbers for the gate. I think the PPV numbers will be really big. Rumor is it hit 2 million buys.
Do you think the rematch does bigger business than the first fight?
If you want to think that Thurman and Garcia were cut out of all of the other money on the event, with Haymon sitting there as both of their advisor, that's on you.
You're the one that always says to go by commission reports.
We know for a fact crawford made over 2 mil. We also know over 10,000 fans were in attendance so he got some nice cash off the gate.
even if they did we know Crawford still made more he got part of the gate too

Or, in actuality, Thurman and Garcia both took home more than the disclosed $2m apiece.even if they did we know Crawford still made more he got part of the gate too
In other words crawford got more than them vs a lesser known and less dangerous opponent

If you google the purses u can find at least 10 that say Canelo was guaranteed 15 million plus ppv upside and ggg 10 million plus upside
It's pretty obvious that Canelo got paid on the fight, but even $15m is significantly less than the $24m, nevermind what was mentioned in the UK article.
The Mexico TV alone, once you count the live cable airing and the free TV airing afterward, is likely worth a ton to Alvarez anyway, and that's not shared with anyone. Is that counted as part of his guarantee?
Alvarez owns his show; excluding the Mexico TV, he's on a deal that gives him something like 80%-85% of the event proceeds after costs.
Why would Alvarez ever take $24m on the front end, when he's getting 85% of the back-end?
A quick Google search of "thurman garcia purse" gets you basically a page of hits stating that the New York State Athletic Commision has the purses for Thurman-Garcia at $2m a piece.
In other words crawford got more than them vs a lesser known and less dangerous opponent
you're the one that's says only go by the commission report those are your words not mine.
Remember crawford got part of the gate too.
Keep mind in garcia and thurman were disclosed to get 1.5 million each. Not 2 million. And that was for fighting each other. Thurman he never got paid like that before

Calling BS on the UK article; where that even picked up that number is hilarious.

Thanks for the link; how the lawyer suing Top Rank for access to the numbers is beyond me, but I'll go with it.
Note: Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman split $4m in disclosed money. To now assume that they didn't get any money that was not disclosed (just as Crawford has seemingly done) is a mistake.you're the one that's says only go by the commission report those are your words not mine.

There is Crawford 2million plus percent of gate. Crawford makes more than Thurman and Danny Garcia. Pretty sweet

Could I please have the link to where Dan Rafael said that Alvarez was guaranteed $24m or that Crawford made more than $2m off of his last fight? Thanks

And people are saying boxing is dead lol. Boxing has put up some of its biggest numbers ever this year!
Klitsckho Joshua broke the pay per view record in the UK in 2017 only to be broken again by the Mayweather vs McGregor fight numbers. Canelo has done over 1 million buys twice this year as well, his first time breaking the million by mark since losing to Floyd in 2013.
Boxing is doing great!
What are you talking about? Canelo Promotions owns the back end of the event, keeping the Mexico money to himself; if things were still similar to the Schaefer deal, Canelo Promotions splits the back end with Golden Boy 80/20 Canelo.
No idea what the K2/Golovkin deal is, but it wouldn't shock me if he simply listed their payout as a cost item that gets deducted before the back end gets split.
Alvarez simply learned enough from Floyd to not get caught up in the night after money but make sure to get his take on all of the money that comes in 12-16 months after the fight.
Doesn't matter which party takes the bulk of the earnings.
It's clear it won't be invested in strip bars.
They're not as greedy.
HBO would reinvest their earnings to boxing.
Same thing with GBP, K2, etc.
Canelo's guarantee was 24 million. The $6million was just listed as what has to be paid night of the fight. Just like Crawford was listed as 1.6million when he made 2.050 million. They do that to pay the sanctioning bodies less money and for foreign fighters to pay less US taxes.
That's why Pacquiao's guarantee for the third fight with Bradley was $20million and he only got $6 million fight night. He has a big chunk paid to MP Promotions, as Canelo does too, so that they pay less to sanctioning bodies and greedy US taxes
Source or nah?
