Before that he was busy winning 345 amateur fights out of 350 fights and that is not easy to do. GGG has been a world champion since 2010 and that's longer than any boxer fighting today. He has made 19 successful title defenses and that's more than any champion fighting today. You make yourself look stupid trying to turn a great fighter into some mediocre boxer. Almost all the pro boxers and a big majority of the boxing fans think he clearly beat Canelo who you think is so wonderful even at his age of 35 so how bad can he be? Canelo can have another shot at him anytime Oscar gets his nerve up. GGG would fight Canelo in December 2017 if it were up to him.

Promotional problems and 400 amatuer fights. Canelo started practicing pro boxing at 15,so it took him a while to build up to being the only superstar of boxing who gets run around the ring by a 35 year old.

But he beat prime nelo whilst past prime. So he's making up for it.

It's not like it was Golovkin's fault. Canelo had the luxury of being scouted early and his career has been carefully managed. Golovkin's story is public, he wasn't satisfied with his promoter back in Europe because they weren't able to secure him better fights. Thus, that's why he came to the states in and finally started receiving more exposure in 2012. But the fact that he was a relatively unknown guy knocking out all of his opponents meant fighters weren't willing to fight him for low-reward, high-risk. Canelo has just been managed better.

At 33 he was still fighting journeymen. Anyway, he's #1 right now and you can't take that away from him. The next year will be interesting for sure, especially if the Canelo rematch happens or he fights Charlo (which won't happen).

To even compare the two fighters and their opportunity to turn pro and path to stardom is so moronic I don't even know where to begin.

At 27 B-Hop was as well. Different fighters have different circumstances in their lives and careers. For all we know Canelo will be burned out by 29 and taking beatings by his early 30s. Or maybe he takes an early retirement after making a bucket load of cash. Probably not but who knows.

What's your point? He is where he is now. On top of the division with a win over a really good fighter in Danny Jacobs and a Draw that could've went either way against Canelo.
