Since we got a draw, can GGG turn down the rematch? If I were him, I would. I see virtually no way that he can get a win in Vegas. He needs to KO Canelo to win and both guy's can take enough damage where that is a remote possibility.
We all know who won the fight and he put another blemish on Canelo's record. I wouldn't take the fight. He has enough money. Time to fight Cotto or BJS and move on. Let Canelo keep fighting turd after turd. He has nothing to win by taking a rematch.
I wouldn't necessarily want the rematch if I was Golovkin. He gets to keep his belts and escaped with a draw in a fight he actually won. If the fights was any closer he probably would have lost the decision.
Personally speaking, as a boxing fan sure I'd love to see them do it again. It was a heck of a fight. Golovkin won but it wasn't a blow out. It was a highly competitive. Canelo loses and he then has to say well that didn't work exactly how I wanted it to and he has to adjust his game. Now maybe he is more aggressive and we have an even more exciting second fight.
As a Golovkin fan though I'm thinking, if Golovkin has to fight even better than that and Canelo can do the same or even slightly better they are going to give him the fight than the deck is incredibly stacked. I don't want to see no BS happen twice.
In one judges eyes Canelo literally could have been knocked down multiple times and still have got a draw (think about that). There will be another judge like her, if not so blatant, on the next card. Unless they do some kind of independent commission which I highly doubt.
I need a little time to think about it but right now if Golovkin said f it I'm going to fight BJS for that last title and then I'm fighting Jacobs (or heck even Charlo) I'd say I'm totally fine with it. Some of those guys might be as tough or tougher fighters than Canelo for Golovkin and far less money so it isn't about being scared of a rematch. It is being scared of fighting your ass off and then getting screwed because of political BS.
In the end if Canelo wants to fight Golovkin will be there I think. Too much money. They'll fight in Vegas you know it. Whether it happens in May like it should or September IDK.
Derevyanchenko is Golovkin's IBF mandatory and i'm very confident that he'll put up a more competitive fight againt GGG than Canelo did. Not to say Canelo wasn't competitve but Sergei will do better.
GGG is best served to use social media to say
Vegas is corrupted and he wont fight there anymore.
Fight in california or new york
GGG should come out and say he doesnt need ty to give canelo a rematch unless its 50/50.
Call out saunders to fight him in the uk. Call out charlo to fight him in LA or call out jacobs to fight him in LA.
I think GGG cd win a rematch fairly easily, if he didnt go for a knockout and jabbed his way to a decision a la Lennox Lewis. Canelo wd get frustrated and leave himself open, so that wd be the way to fight him imo.
Canelo doesn't seem to be eager to run it back in May so why not GGG vs Cotto and Canelo vs BJS. Winners meet for the unification in September. GGG gets a nice payday and Canelo faces another legit Middleweight
You are correct. Canelo wont fight again until May, so why in the world should GGG sit around for 8 months waiting? He could fight Saunders in Dec/Jan to get the last strap, then if Canelo doesnt want the rematch in May (a good possibility) then GGG could fight his WBC mando (Charlo) or he will likely have an IBF mando due as well......
De La Hoya says the rematch clause is valid and will exercise it.

Ahhh cool...although in the first paragraph is says they will execute for a fight POSSIBLY in 2018 lol...if I'm them I'd probably wait till September, let GGG get another year older and a little more shopworn. Canelo has a lot of years left in him, he could be facing GGG possibly 3 times when ally's said and done, no reason to get the guy worn out too early.
Golovkin has no option if Canelo wants the fight. That's how rematch clauses work, unless he retires.
Wouldn't that only be in the case of Canelo losing then enforcing the rematch clause? Not sure it works when the fight is a draw?

Look at Diaz vs Malignaggi. Malignaggi complained enough that he got a fair shake in the 2nd fight.
I know Diaz ain't no Canelo and I don't think Malignaggi beat Diaz the first time, but he did something and got a positive result.
GGG and his team need to make a big stink, they'll (the judges) magically get it right when they're under a global microscope.
Unify with Saunders in the UK
BIG BIG STADIUM FIGHT !!!!
$$$$ $$$$$ $$$$$ $$$$$
Rematch Canelo on cinco de mayo
MORE :
$$$$$ $$$$$ $$$$
Hard to argue with this.
Turn the rematch down and then what...fight someone else for 2 million he finally got his biggest payday and a rematch will make much more sense money wise

GGG fans are scared and want him to knockout Blow Job Saunders because he can't knock out top fighters
I'd like to see him fight BJS regardless to try and unify the titles. Might as well do it before Canelo fight since there is a high chance against Canelo he'll get screwed again.
Why are Golovkin fans so scared of a rematch?
They'd rather see BJS than a Canelo rematch?
Someone please explain this to me. My best guess is they want to go back to scoring easy KO victories.

If the draw triggers a rematch clause, like Golden Boy claims, then he likely would be bound to face Canelo again
Ah right, so the clause supposedly covers a draw also. Cheers for the info :ANYWORD:
Why wouldn't he, the heat is on canelo, not ggg as 90% of people thought he won, canelo already has not committed to a rematch an article said yesterday, ggg doesn't have a rematch clause
I don't think so, im not sure? I'd assumed it was a rematch clause that kicked in if GGG had beaten him. So now, there's no need for the clause.
Off topic, but for some reason this thread reminded me off when Don King sorted out the Benn-Eubank rematch. In the contract it stated that the winner and loser would have to join him.
But it ended a draw and they both walked away from the deal. That was a weird one :lol1:

We are not scared. I just see no reason that is going to be beneficial to GGG. He already was robbed and will be agqin to a bigger extent next time. Canelo needs the rematch more than GGG does if you ask me. Don't give it to him. Guy and his promoter are ****ing turde
