Before the fight, i think everyone would agree that GGG needed Canelo if he wanted a huge fight and fight a huge name.
Since the fight, the tables have turned a bit now. Canelo's team or Golden Boy anyway have come out of this fight looking pretty bad when pretty much everyone considers it a robbery. Their reputation has taken a dent on such a big scale. They're the ones who need to redeem themselves for the decision and also because most felt he lost.
Golovkin shouldn't need to give in to any demands. No Canelo being the diva and walking last and probably a much lesser % too.
Golovkin's team are in the driving seat now. Canelo doesn't even have the stardom or fanbase to fall back on, they were booing him. Golovkin will walk into that rematch as the popular fighter and people will want to see justice served.
The scoring may have been fixed or influence but for what? Canelo has come out of it looking worse. Had they give an honest decision, Canelo would be getting so much praise today, even if he lost, because he did fight well at times.
Nope, I actually think GGG needs the rematch more and he needs it immediately. The clock is ticking and he needs Canelo for one last huge paycheck and the more he waits for a rematch the more advantages Canelo will have as he's not getting any younger.
Canelo could easily forget about this fight and carry on with his arrogant ways stating that he beat GGG. He can fight Cotto again, BJS, or Jacobs and those would all sell. GGG needs to somehow get him back in the ring immediately.
Money wise Canelo will be good, but I agree that he needs the rematch much more than Gennady. He still doesn't have a single belt at MW, most people have him loosing, the booing at the end left him in a similar position to Bradley after Manny - 1st fight.
Gennady can fight Sanders or Jacobs.
after floyd, lara and this people will get an impression that canelo never fights at the even playing field - so what's the point watching him.
Actually it's GGG who needs a fast rematch to cash out Canelo will make 5 to 10 million whom ever he fights. The longer the rematch is prolonged the better for Canelo he improves with each fight cause he's young. GGG has hit the top of the hill and is slowly going down the Hill. If the rematch is done say Sept of 2019 Canelo stops GGG next year he will win a UD in 12 because of his improvement of the game and GGG decline in the game due to something called age

Golovkin has spent the last 4 years as being this utter wrecking machine, welterweight champion Kell Brook held his own until the eye gave out, Daniel Jacobs extended him the full 12 after weathering some initial trouble, and now Saul Alvarez not only took Golovkin the full 12, he did so without ever really being damaged in the fight apparently.
Alvarez is still the lineal/Golden Boy magazine champion, and his next two fights are likely already set as some order of Billy Joe Saunders (didn't see the fight, but reading the reports make it seem like he fought like ****) and David Lemieux (come forward brawler with limited skills, but enough money coming with him from Montreal to make sense).
Golovkin still can't really promo in English, still has his belts, and he's currently sitting with the WBC and IBF mandatory defenses currently due (WBC and IBF will work together to sort the timing, but neither organization is likely to step-aside to let Golovkin have another non-title fight).
Add that the fight had drawn nary a word outside of the boxing audience, and it's pretty clear that the PPV likely underperformed as well.
To act as if Golovkin has any kind of leverage is silly
Totally disagree triple L can't sell at all he goin to become popular now because of ginger canela triple L looks on the decline while canela learn how to put the skate like a pr fighter and pretty girl maywheather.
I'm not saying GGG is indefinitely more popular or has become a huge draw. But he will walk into the rematch with more popularity than before and people willing him to win.
I'm saying Canelo and his team are the ones that need to redeem themselves in a rematch, because the general feeling was it was a robbery.
Eh, I really don't think Canelo needs Golovkin for anything. He can go on and have huge fights. Golovkin's stock went up a little but I don't think it's going to suddenly turn him into a huge draw.
Canelo's stock will fall and has been anyway. It's not like he has great options out there to fight anyway and he like everyone else needs a dance partner to do really big numbers.
He can't carry huge fights on his own like someone like Anthony Joshua can v Pulev. His fight v Smith didn't exactly do spectacular numbers.
