FLOYD MAYWEATHER believes Saul Canelo' Alvarez can stop Gennady Golovkin by going to the body. The retired pound-for-pound great has given his former rival advice ahead of the mammoth middleweight showdown this weekend. Alvarez faces WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC champion Golovkin at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Click Here To Read More]
Sure go to the body and leave the head wide open. Im sure ggg will take the trade off. Besides canelo is the one bulking up and dehydrating those muscles we'll see who can take the body work
Was going to say but u beat me to it... Canelo focuses on GGG body to much and he will be eating some hellacious counter shots upstairs.
Great advice from the man himself, the trainer of champions.
GGG is a midrange fighter. Getting in close, smothering him, and breaking down his body gives Canelo the best chance of winning.
but canelo never fights that way
I keep seeing this silly comment constantly being posted "GGG doesn't like it to the body" lol neither does canelo nor does any boxer. some can take the shots better than others but I scratching my head as to why so many keep insinuating that GGG cant take body shots. I cant ever recall a time where he was seriously hurt, in trouble, in survival mode or bent over from a body shot. so where is this coming from?
When GGG gets hit to the head he continues fighting, we don't see any sign of hurt. But when the opponent hits him to the body, he steps back or he continues to block and he doesn't answer by any shot. He gets so passive. You can see it against Jacobs and Murray (early in the fight).
Bad ass...a FAIR and UNBIASED analysis of both fighters strengths and weaknesses...that's why I can't wait for Saturday! Thanks for sharing man...
Absolutely, you're welcome. I too am very much looking forward to this fight!
Who knows, but when you swing to the body, the head is open. And Golovkin hits a lot harder to the head than Canelo does to the body. I've never seen GGG have problems being hit to the body. This fight just gets more fun, because you can't predict it.
wheres this 'ggg doesnt like it to body' stuff come from all of a sudden? Let me guess, kovalev didnt like it to the body, golovkins european too, so golovkin doesnt like it to the body either, sound logic there...
No one likes to get hit to the money, especially the liver. Can't overlook the fact that GGG generates great power on his body shots. We will see early on in the fight who is going to have more success getting their body shots in. What I like about Canelo are his uppercuts and unorthodox combinations. If he catches GGG early, it might make him hesitant. Let's see what happens.
Everybody has a gameplan until they get hit in the mouth!! Lol... Canelo should stick to what he does best and he'll be good. And we'll see if GGG can force Canelo into a brawl instead of allowing Canelo to box, that is GGG best chance at victory.
Seems like common sense. No one likes being punched in the body. NO ONE. **** ****ing hurts. Body is where most of the organs are. GGG might taste the canvas for the first time ever if a power puncher like Canelo can catch him with some clean shots to the solar plexus or the kidney's.
Look what Spence did to Algieri while Pac beat his ass for 12 rounds but couldn't put him away
Yeah Canelo, go to the body. But if you don't stop him with body shots you'll only make him mad..then what? There has to be a plan B, C, D, and E ready & in place. At,least a triple plan. Me for each head of that giant.
Body may be the key for Canelo. Golovkin didn't seem to like Jacob's body shots. Some think he's impervious to this tactic (and all others), as he's never been hurt by A body shot before, but I don't think anyone has ever attempted a sustained attack to his body. Probably a good plan, since he eats punches to the head like M&Ms (as Larry Merchant said, in reference to Antonio Margarito). Or maybe some of you are right, and he's the first invulnerable man in human history.

Good point . Perhaps that extra muscle Canelo packed on is to help him in the clinches. Its not his style but he has to change up if he wants to beat Golovkin. He can't fight his normal style and come out with a win. IMO....
yeah i dont think its some achilles heel for golovkin, hes not shown any more vulnerability to the body than canelo has. as u said, i dont think any fighter likes getting hit to the body, just people talking nonsense for the sake of it.
I don't think ANY fighter likes getting HIT, PERIOD! :D
