I don't watch MMA. If I watched it more, I'd probably like it. But, what I have watched...two men...hugging each other on the ground for long stretches...before the ref finally breaks it up, just doesnt appeal to me :lol1:.
Tito Ortiz, The IceMan, Rampage, Rhonda, I know those guys. McGregor's pre-fight bombast comes off as an ACT to motivate him to excel in the violent sport. It's also to impose some intimidation on his opponent, to gain a psychological edge on his opponent, and hopefully win the fight before the bell rings.
Like, a Floyd, Wilder, or Big Baby bring their pre-fight personality into the ring? The McGregor that showed up to the fight WASN'T the same guy that out yelled Floyd at the press tour.
There was one moment in the first or second round, where Floyd hit him with a body shot, and McGregor put on an invincible act :lol1:.
But other than that, the McGregor that showed up in the ring was a quiet, nervous fighter, a far cry from the press tour bravado.
I think at home, he's not this mouthy guy, it's just what he needs to motivate HIMSELF, and win the fight without throwing a punch. Am I reading him right?
I think his persona outside the ring is mainly to sell tickets/PPV's. Which he does really well. He plays up to what he knows the buying audience will lap up (positively or negatively).
If he was a quiet guy, he wouldn't be as well known. Casuals wouldn't know who he was, and he wouldn't of been able to make a big money fight with Mayweather. No one would of cared.
He had a 'act' (for want of a better word) from day 1, and it's worked a treat for him. He's one of the best known sportsmen in the world.
He's looked at guys like Mayweather, Ali, shit..he even reminds me of Ric Flair at times. He knows to reach out and get the attention of casual (most importantly) and hardcore fans. You need more than being a top fighter, you need to be loud, obnoxious even at times, to get noticed by the mainstream.
Once he gets in the ring/octagon he's not going to be the maniac you see at press conferences (who is?). Like all top fighters, he has a calm when fighting. The guy promoting the fight, is a different person from the actual fighter.
I'd imagine the way he acts is to wind up his opponent also. Aldo is as cool as you like, calm, patient, a long time experienced fighter. But McGregor ramped up the pressure in the build up and turned it into a huge event.
Aldo looked a nervous wreck going into the fight, and McGregor had done a number on him mentally, as Aldo came out and fought completely different to how he normally does. McGregor had got to him.
I think the reason he looked so out of sorts once he got into the ring, was because he was in deep in a sport he doesn't know.
He's a MMA guy, not a boxer. He can't box.
He's not a good boxer and he was fighting a guy who is very good at boxing. He had nothing, and i think he knew it. This was a business venture for him.
Did you read what I said, give some training to PRIME Floyd and a 25lb weight advantage over a 40 yr old retired UFC Champion in the cage and Floyd KOs him.
Ok, if you think so that's your opinion. Mine is they kick him in his shins until his leg feels like it snapped in half and he be on the ground inside 2 minutes tapping out.
The original UFC had no weight classes. Royce Gracie won UFC 1 vs a guy who was 4 inches taller and about 30 pounds heavier by just getting him to the ground and choking him out inside 2 minutes I think. Boxers make a big deal about moving up 4 lbs when they already drain themselves to make a weight so,they have an advantage..
Praise Mcgregor by saying Floyd would look the same fighting In Mcgregors world? That's called the truth, nothing more.
Mcgregor is a loud mouthed snake oil salesman. And people were stupid enough on his side of the fight game to believe he actually had a chance to beat the best fighter of his generation.
Like I said, time to move on.

Mcnugget can't box for **** and is overrated in the UFC.
Ok, now time to move on ;)
If you don't give a fck why post just to praise plastic Mac and sht on the boxer, like I said you should be happy boxing won. but no you still find a way to put sht on Mayweather.

I'm over that fight and I wish every one else was also. We have a real fights coming this weekend and next but half the forum is still posts about this ridiculous "fight"
I don't give a fk about about Floyd or Mcgregor, they did their thing and made tons of money so good for them. But why are people continuing to over analyze an epic mismatch is beyond me.

a guy who has never been in a ring. wtf did people expect?
ANY amateur would ha ko'd him.
now, put Floyd in the uff against him and I will give Floyd 45 seconds to be crying with a broken arm on the floor.
Give prime Floyd the training and a 25 lb weight advantage against a 40 yr old retired UFC champion and I beat he will give us more courage and fight that that Plastic Mac did, prime Floyd would KO him with those advantages.
Floyd is not shting on the UFC and its champions he is gracious towards any fighter, McPlastic is a big mouth with very little to back it up, he trashed our noble sport every chance he could, he talks the talk and cannot back it up.
Take your hate for Floyd and throw it in the trash can for once in your life stand up for Boxing, our champion beat the crap out of the over sized blow hard you should be happy with that.

The guys not a fking boxer for Christ sake. When are you people gonna get over it and start talking about real boxing again?
Let's put Floyd in the octagon and see if he looks like a world class grappler and striker with his legs.

Hilarious that anyone expected more from McGregor.
He had no chance. He isn't a boxer.
This event was just a swindle. Not a fight. It was obvious all along. For real. I mean, just look at the smile on Conor's face after the fight. He was carried, stopped, but earned a pile of cash. He accomplished as much as Floyd wanted him to accomplish in the ring.

Fight press conferences between floyd and conor i got some swamp land to sell to you...the whole thing was a sham and a money grab for both conor and floyd...
I think McGregor was way over his head. This was evident when he was getting his hand wrapped in the suit he wore to the arena. He was probably shocked he was doing well and the excitement and adrenaline fatigued him even more.
Oh, and from a charismatic standpoint, the guy has a big bag of nothing. I mean, I guess if you are 14 year old suburban kid, or a late 20's/early 30's doucher there is something there...otherwise he's a joke in real life.
Once again, in the history of boxing, I dare you to find a fighter who talked as much sh*t and delivered so little as this McConor guy. That will be my lasting memory of this fight.
He comes across as a poser and a bit of a weakling (mentally) to me.
pretty sure hes a cokehead and alcoholic. Hes still young so getting away with it now but he will be a mess in another 5 years if Im right.
conor has got some big ass monkey arms too. theres no way he only has 2" wingspand on mayweather. His looked way longer and mayweather already has a really long reach at 72" for a 5'8'' welter.
Hilarious that anyone expected more from McGregor.

Floyd looked sloppy as fuk, he was probably telling the truth when he said he didnt spar the last month.
He let conor swing at his guard for 3 rounds and just walked him down, in the final rounds he wasnt even setting up his right hands with feints or anything, just swinging for the fences.
Didnt go how i expected for sure. I thought floyd would box and conor would be aggressive but conor had no power at all and for whatever reason thought he could box on the outside and made contact due to his long reach but with the weakest arm punches ive ever seen.
weird twilight zone chit.
