The Charlo brothers have been around for years and they certainly haven't reached Thurman level. Haven't even headlined fights.
What are these guys doing?
Crawford is Thurman level more or less.
Lomachenko is as well, more or less.
Who else has the potential of even reaching that level, let alone GGG, Canelo level.
Thurman is highly overrated and has 1-2 solid wins. The Porter win without question his best win. Don't see him beating Manny, Horn, Spence, Brook, TC, and I've even favor Mikey to beat Thurman. There are probably other WW'S I can't think of.
I'm just not high on the guy at all. Very limited
Can't beat nobody Horn, washed up Manny, and one eyed quitter Brook? lmao hater alert. Thurman crushes them all. Spence and Crawford as toss ups.
Any more fighters you can name who got the potential of reaching at least Thurman-level popularity?
It's not even about being undefeated.
Loma is Thurman-level, for example, though he's not undefeated.
Crawford is Thurman-level, Spence reached that level by just beating Brook.
Why can't the Charlo brothers, for instance, reach that level despite being in the sport for a long time now?
A lot of them could reach that level, IMHO.
IF only they are seen often.
It's always been a case of now you see them, now you don't.
There's no consistency, thus it becomes hard to maintain fans consistently.
It'd take about 3 good wins against past it opposition with a little name recognition.
As long as it would take place in one year.
It doesn't matter.
1-2 fights a year against nobodies won't cut the mustard.
Any single name among the current fighters
that would reach that level regardless of personality, charm, etc.
Just simple things like fighting 3 times a year.
Doesn't have to win all the time.
Like fans just love seeing him back in the ring.
Not afraid to let that 0 go.
But.....dude just disappears after he fights for months at a time. How about keeping that shine on your name in between fights there big dog
Thurman certainly got passion when he has a fight coming.
Too bad he's no longer active.
That's probably the point of this thread.
Look for someone who has that potential.
So we don't have to rely on just one, two fighters, etc.
He is injured.
I don't know much about such levels and why some boxers are so much more popular than others. I guess Thurman fights often against good opponents and he always wins. I think Spence is easily on his level as far as accomplishments and looking like a terrific fighter goes. Spence's KO of Brook is probably more impressive than any win of Thurman's. Thurman edged out Porter who had lost a close one to Brook. Spence is calling out Thurman load and clear and Thurman is not saying OK you are next, Spence. If they ever fight I think Spence will knock Thurman out. That's the way Spence wins fights. When Thurman fights top guys like Danny Garcia and Porter he wins by a close decision with no knockdowns. So in answer to your question I think Spence is on his way to a higher level than Thurman if the top welterweights will finally fight him like Brook did.
TWICE IN 2014
TWICE IN 2015
ONCE IN 2016
ONCE IN 2017
It seems our definitions of the word "often" are different, because to me a guy fighting 6 times in 4 years is not fighting "often".....
The fact that the Charlos aint even headlining fights is criminal man. These guys have paid their dues and they are seek and destroy types yet with a lot of slick and skill in them.
But these things take time and I think it would be good if they fought more often, maybe fight like four times a year.
They been fighting on seperate cards lately and both fought/will fight twice this year. I think if they had combined those cards they both could have fought four times this year, that would have been good momentum for them.
Jermall should fight Derevychenko, I hear he the IBF mandatory, and Charlo is the WBC mandatory. So if they fought each other, the winner would be mandatory to both belts right? That would make it very difficult for Canelo/GGG winner to duck the winner.
As for Jermell he doing everything right. Won the title against a very good opponent, and defended against the very best available opponents. Two mandatories in a row and he already stated he wants to unify when he deals with Lubin.
He should probably try become a co-main event on a Spence card though, that would get him more popularity, and it would be easy to organize since they are friends and stable mates.

Good fights and a good personality everyone loves Thurman for the most part the only people who have a problem is the hardcore boxing heads (who hates everyone)
