As you know when it comes to power ppl favour Ggg, even Canelo side.
Canelo side's only answer when they are asked how they will beat Ggg is that Canelo will stay away and box him with his 'skills'.
So, the last time i checked Ggg was the jabber, one of the best to win fights with it, and Canelo was throwing at most 4 jabs per round (flick jabs).
How is that possible for Canelo to box him without a jab?
Jab is the :
fastest,
least consuming,
most repetitive,
most secure,
most accurate
punch in boxing if not the hardest. The interesting part is that GGG lands it like clubbing the door. No point in belittling the jab factor in a boxing fight. It's a huge part of this fight.
Kovalev is very skilled, he's just lazy in training....does everything at 3rd gear and refuses to be pushed to 5th by the trainers that have his best interest at heart.
Yea... you can say that now. Twelve months ago he was invincible in most peoples eyes. A white, balding, prime Mike Tyson.
People fall in love with how dominant these type of fighters are against lesser opposition. Segery Kovalev is a prime example.

Canelo has a lot of things, but a smart team is not one of them.
His team is consisted of a couple of simple-minded small time boxing coaches that he started out with. He has outgrown those guys for quite a while now. The Mayweather fight showed it.
Mayweather just is, was, and will always be better than Canelo. But in a sense you are right, I actually dont care for Canelos team but I think they are smarter than Sanchez and will come up with a better gameplan.

Canelos not going to reinvent the wheel. In his past fight when his style wasn't working- he kept it up and eventually broke through to success. His confidence and persistence is pretty high.
G jab is disruptive but since he throws it with power it isn't as fast as a flicker jab which is harder to counter. Canelo will have to balance countering the jab with not over moving from Gs measuring feints.
Canelo generally works from the outside but he is able to get inside and jump back out. He probably feels like he can counter off the jab. Which I beleive he can. As long as he's able to keep the fight in the center of the ring.
With that said, I think Gs jab only matters if he's able to also hurt Canelo with other shots. If Canelo feels like he can take the power shots with folding, Gs jab will be nuetrslized. If not. It's an even longer night.

Sergey Kovalev is a lazy bum that got kicked out of Abel Sanchez's gym for being a lazy douchebag.
Canelo has a smart team behind him, they know Canelo needs to hold his ground center ring, move his head and fire off combos, a 2(head)3(body) will be Canelos go to combo in this fight.

Canelo is listed at having a 71" reach which I think is at least an 1inch or 2 fabricated. GGG is listed at or around 74ins" which I can see considering his height. With that said, Canelos jab isn't to much in the gameplan neither is to much lateral movement. Canelo has a smart team behind him, they know Canelo needs to hold his ground center ring, move his head and fire off combos, a 2(head)3(body) will be Canelos go to combo in this fight.
Canelos bulking up not to fight ring post to ring post. Canelos bulking up because he has to fight GGG on the inside. Canelos going to keep everything compact and smother GGG center ring where Canelo will have the hand speed advantage. Uppercuts will also play a big roll. This is going to be a masterful inside fight by Canelo, GGG is going to learn 1st hand what Mexican style is all about.
It is effective, best way to short circuit a boxer who slips well, their reflexes over ride their normal movement and then put themselves in a position to be hit
Yea, I was not being sarcastic. The strategy makes perfect sense, and I agree that this would work at times.
Key to the fight: will Canelo be able to handle GGG s power, we know GGG will handle Canelo as he was able to take some bombs from a pretty much light heavy Jacobs. If he can take GGG s power than he can win by crafty boxing and using proper timing and outpoint him. I think he will be broken down though because he has never faced this kind of power from a bigger opponent .
This is an interesting idea and sounds like it would be effective!

If he puts his whole body into it, that is even worse. The counter will catch him leaning forward and do more damage. I don't expect G to throw the same jab all night though.
Edit: Canelo is faster than G, so he will definitely be able to counter the jab at times. The only question is whether he has the power to bother G with those counters. I do not think he does.
No it's not. He's not staying in 1 place flicking his arm. The whole body is moving. He's not stationary throwing the jab. You'll see Sept. 16.
People fail to realize that GGG's jab is hard to consistently counter. He's great at anticipating a right hand follow and will either be just out of distance or will flare his elbow as he jabs to negate the trajectory just enough. If people think Golovkin is stupid enough to continually let Canelo counter his jab then idk what to say
No, check it again, you don't let your head pass the lead foot bcz it creates imbalance and holes in defense. Head, lead knee, foot in one vectical line.
And my friend you should check it again how he boxed Jacobs and Lemieux and Gabriel primarily with his jab, doing the same thing again and again.
It's the safest punch, conserves the least energy, fastest, most repeatable and he lands it with power.
Canelo body-bagged Chavez all night, couldn't hurt him, imagine if it was Ggg landing on the disowned son of J.C. Chavez.
I understand the concept of a jab. If you think G will jab Canelo like he did Lemieux and Rosado with nothing coming back, I think you will be very surprised. Both of those fighters have a low boxing IQ. Jacobs is a bad example because that was a close (but not controversial imo) fight. I have G winning this fight, but I don't think the jab alone will win it for him like in the Lemieux fight.
Your second argument is irrelevant because GGG is not fighting Chavez Jr. You don't get points for what could have happened, and what you do to common opponents means very little because of stylistic match-ups.

Easier way, GGG aim his jab at canelos right eye making him slip to the left and straight in front of GGG right, corral his head, make him put his head in a place constantly, easier to land when you know where his head will be

Golovkin dosen't jab like any of those guys. He puts his whole body into it. His jab won't be countered. It's not a lazy jab. Best jab in boxing right now. I f canelo can't get past the jab, game over just like that.

well said, totally different.
Canelo will eat jabs all night long I dont have doubt about it. The things is, that he will also land the uppercut and the overhand right. we will see who is more affected with the punches by the 6th round.
