Canelo has never beaten anyone on the backfoot. GGG has.

GGG isn't going to beat Canelo because he's a better boxer. He isn't. Plus, outboxing David Lemieux isn't as mindblowing as some make it out to be. This isn't to say GGG is unskilled. But I suspect his strength and power will be his two biggest assets. Strwngth and power mean diddly if you cant impose them. Golovkins jab will be key and everything will follow from (should he beat alvarez) better boxing.

Most of Gs fights are chess matches, he's just been a great finisher. I don't get why people think he's a slugger. That's not what I see when I watch his fights.He is a chess-master in the ring and when you make a wrong move you pay heavily for doing so. Canelo can match the physical but the mental edge goes to GGG. In the traditional l sense I don't think he's seen as a slugger, but a puncher/boxer. Canelo a boxer/puncher. GGG is like Sugar Ray Leonard in Marvelous Hagler's body and Canelo is like Hagler in Leonard's body for this match.

Backing up and fighting off the back foot aren't the same thing.That's true, you can put your heels down and dig in inside/outside, coming and going. I think that what he needs to do changing the pace, using angles. If you stay in front of GGG you are a live target to be hit hard and often.

Canelo is not that effective as an aggressive fighter. He only has success being aggressive against lesser fighters (Kirkland, Perro) or smaller fighters (Khan, Josesito, Smith was both lesser & smaller). When matched tougher: Cotto, Lara, Trout, he boxes. I think Canelo will let GGG bring the fight to him and try to counter... kind of like how Jacobs did. So I see a similar type fight, but with GGG being more aggressive & successful. Canelo's not as rangy as Jacobs, so GGG can reach him more easily.

Actually, Trout was the aggressor, Canelo boxed... but Canelo barely won that fight (i scored it for Trout, but it could have gone either way. In terms of boxing skills, its hard to say. Pretty close. In terms of offense, I see GGG as much better than Canelo. Enough to overcome Canelo's boxing and win. This could be alot like GGG v. Jacobs, with Canelo laying back & trying to counter GGG, but GGG being a bit more aggressive.

Yeah, call me crazy but...I think Lemieux is a C-class fighter. Maybe B minus. He hits hard, that's about it. I don't like GGG's resume but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Nobody stands out and nobody has really taken him into deep waters. I feel like that might be an issue against Canelo. yeah hes a decent fighter with power, it was a decent win at best but its brought up all the time by the same people who sht on other fighters resumes. yeah I think gggee will have a lot of trouble in this fight

He seemed to do pretty well against Angulo

Canelo is an attacking fighter who doesn't back up. He stands his ground. He has a good jab, quick accurate combinations and wicked body punches. I think he has improved so much from the time he lost to Mayweather that he would beat the Mayweather of that fight today. He had to fight Mayweather at 152 which was not his best weight. I am picking GGG to win but it is a close fight as the betting odds show.

I wouldn't think Canelo's plan calls for backing up, he is or will be as strong as GGG on the inside. I think Canelo may move in and out using angles he can't back straight up with GGG or come straight in has he has in the past. He needs to get in range and work but plan his exit, hook out or jab out at angles. GGG is coming to look for you so you better be off to his sides.
