whats the deal with gervonta davis ? has he always acted like such a little deucebag ahole ? his behaviour in the fight with Fontana was a disgrace what a jerk ."peeleft:"peeleft:"peeleft: the thing is the crowd wasn't into his behaviour they wernt responding well to it they turned on him and then booed him accordingly after the foul induced ending , why do it ???
Whatever with dumb fans who write guys off after a L. I think L's help guys get better more than hurt wayyyyyy more often then not.
It used to be that people didn't think you could know how good a guy was til he loss. Now you're either undefeated & the best or have 1 or more L & suck & should retire lol. I don't buy that last bs even if a lot of boxing fans these days seem to or seem to believe something close to that.
To me undefeated means untested or unproven most of the time & it means you're the best seldom.
I understand all of that, but if you want to sell Gervonta to casual audience he has to have the aura of invincibility, like Tyson, Pac or Floyd had. Gervonta don't have the charisma of Pac or Mayweather though - doesn't matter if it's positive or negative one - if you can't make people love you, make them hate you then, that works for your marketability. I mean, people talking about Gervonta being a future star but it's hard to promote a guy with losses in the resume, that's stupid but that's how it works out here. The team has to make up their mind if they want a good boxer who's gonna learn the lesson after taking L or they want to develop him into star
Surprised that was the first time lots of people have watched him. That fight seemed very out of character from all the other fights i've seen of him.
That said, it may not be out of character for how he is as a person. Him and Floyd had a bit of a spat in the past because Floyd said Davis had too many distractions out of the ring and wanted him in Vegas to train.
And honestly at this point catching a L might be the best thing for him to turn the tide.
People still saying Loma is a bum and hypejob after his 1 loss to Salido. That's why Gervonta can't afford losing. Even 1 loss is lethal to boxing career nowadays
On the other hand, Broner gets 40 mil contracts after losing two times, and still able to attract attention after third loss, so who knows
And honestly at this point catching a L might be the best thing for him to turn the tide.
I wonder if his trainers don't got a problem with it or they don't care they are just happy to have a guy making some money finally thus taking their cut?
He's definitely not a hype job like I see some people calling him. Stevie Wonder can see he's got skills, but you still gotta hone those skills sharper & improve. Can't just stay at the level your at & expect to get bigger without getting better.
Or his trainers just aren't good. Idk anything about his training team, but that's always a possibility.
In terms of him losing, that would either light a fire under his ass or do nothing at all (a la Adrien Broner).
The British commentary for that fight was hilarious, so obvious Sky were told beforehand they werent allowed to mention Lomachenko
He's got explosive power for his size, it's something you will notice right away if you watch some of his previous fights. They are against mismatched opponents so far.
But yeah, he looked terrible in this fight, I'm not a fan of excuses but all indications point to him being sick with a cold or flu or whatever it was. There's no reason to believe he should have went as many rounds as it went with that guy if he was healthy. He was supposed to put on a showcase and it all turned on him because of his douchbaggery.
Probably got his priorities f#cked up. He's young & talented & just starting to get headlines, attention + money. Lotsa people f#ck up whtn that becomes a reality & a few even end up completely f#cking up their trajectory if not their career. If Tank is the former or the later its still too early to say & ultimately he'll choose via his actions.
Randomly, on a podcast today Brandon Schaub said Floyd appeared to be backing off of his confidence in Tank's superstar potential in the fighter meeting when he got brought up. Mighta just been mad about the missed weight or mighta been being 100 with them. Who knows.
Yeah I see that happening. Floyd was asked what was the biggest thing he'd learned from boxing outside the ring and Floyd made a statement about young fighters being ungrateful. Saying he's giving guys advances and they're messing around. I figured he was talking about Tank

Hey didn't this guy kill someone in the ring? whats he doing here? Oh Kovi is jus playin, he da 'Krusha'.
Nadjib Mohammedi, Nathan Cleverly, Jean Pascal, Andre Ward are just hatin on 'Krusher'.
Come on dude you can't play the killing card on him that's harsh.
hype job at 22 yrs old and already won a legit world title?
people called him a hype job before pedraza
The champion who doesn't think Loma is relevant. The champion who Floyd said isn't ready for Loma. The champion who just had that title stripped because he doesn't have the discipline to make weight.
Come back after his next five no-name opponents and tell me he isn't a hype job.
Neither of those fighters is nearly as bad as Davis. I remember a few fights ago he basically teabagged a downed fighter and in the last one he throws a very dangerous rabbit punch and then mocks the way the fighter looks when he's on the ground?

Yea he's f#cking up, wasting his opportunity maybe it sounds like. I follow him on snapchat & all he ever does is perform car karaoke + flash money or jewelry. Meanwhile all I see Ryan Garcia, Joshua & Eubank Jr doing all the time is working out (Jr is ALWAYS in the gym).
Yeah man, I hate to see a guy with so much talent take it for granted. He has great tools: power, speed, footwork. But he still needs to learn the fundamentals (not loading up on every shot, using his f.cking jab!!, and setting up shots properly) and he'll never do so unless he puts in the work.
When he gets in there with a boxer at the top of the sport, he is probably going to get schooled.
He wasn't in shape, period.
Also, behind the scenes he has never gotten along with Mayweather and TMT. Even last year, Floyd had his moronic website do a hit piece of Tank and others (most embarrassing journalism I've ever seen).
Floyd started to get cool with him again when it looked like Davis was really progressing. I still think he can be very good but it is pretty sad that he didn't come prepared to fight like a professional on such a big stage.
lol its all good bro im just talkin
You know what, I just looked up his highlights, and I love this kid's fighting style. I just wish he'd stop being such a dick in the ring. I'm gonna start following this kid's career. And you know what, his craziness (was watching a video of him going crazy during a face to face confrontation with another boxer) could either help him, or destroy him. I hope it helps him, because he is fun as hell to watch.
I'll admit, I barely watched any of his last fight, because my mind was too set on the Floyd/Conor fight, and I was scrolling through the fight thread, and just glancing at the fight, once in a while, so didn't really get to see what happened, second by second.
He reminds me of a little bit more advanced Pacquiao at this stage in his career, but obviously less explosiveness, and footwork/agility, but similar. He's got the southpaw stance, and he likes to bang it out. My type of fighter.
I think you have me mistaken for a Loma fan. I'm not. I've been saying Mikey knocks his ass out for the longest. And reason not to like him? If anything, I want more superstars in boxing, and want to be a fan of the next big time up and comer like Errol. And you're being facetious. You know the difference between the 2.
lol its all good bro im just talkin
Hype job, that's all he is.
Not gonna lie, I'm Loma fan but it did tick me off in his last fight. In his defense tho, at least he was clearly breaking down Marriaga. Tf was Davis doing? He looked like an amateur in there and how the hell do you have an off night on the biggest event he is ever going to be in?
This was his shot to make a name for himself, he is never going to be in the presence of an audience of that magnitude ever again. He's just the next AB, simple as that.
no hes the first tank davis we will see how his career pans out he has decent skill. cant write him off yet
He has skills but he's an *******. He was smiling so hard when he heard Farmer got shot just because they had a little beef?
well hes from baltimore lol.. most boxers arent role models
he's no longer champ you moron. he got stripped in case you haven't noticed. he'll turn out to be a hype job. the signs are already there, lazy and undisciplined. I want to see how he handles adversity once he steps into the ring with a fighter who's not a bum and will fight back. davis looks like a quitter!
no shlt hes stripped. ok WAS youngest champ.. happy?
i dont think you understand what hype job means
lol all these morons calling the youngest champ in boxing a hype job. give me a break.. he obv didnt train seriously. He was hanging with drake n shlt and came in overweight. No wonder floyd wants him only training in vegas
