this is the story of a man named paulie who even though he had no skill or talent was able to get a couple televised fights early on in his career due to his location, nationality, and annoying look at me attitude. he went undefeated against bum opposition until...
cotto was looking for an easy opponent for a new york fight...oh look this big mouth. malignaggi took a beating and that was good enough to get some more fights on hbo(or showtime) simply because he was the "guy that got beat up by cotto but did better than expected"
after this loss somehow hes the hbo main event against edner cherry moving up in weight...wat why? he wins not surpringly.
he was then gifted a title shot against one of the weakest champs in history lovemore ndou which he wouldnt have got if he was an eastern euro unknown but since showtime offered up the money...and he got the win and the best win of his career good job.
then he tried to line up a pretty easy defense aganst herman ngoudjo....took a beating and was thoroughly outboxed but of course the judges gave him the decision in order to preserve future money bouts with bigger names.
a pointless rematch with ndou followed and he escaped with a somewhat controversial win over a guy he had just beaten 12-0 in order to setup the hatton "mega fight"
hatton completely steamrolls his carcus as expected
paulie then gets another hbo headline fight(why???) against juan diaz who had lost 2 of 3, was coming off a brutal ko, and was moving up in weight. it was a close fight but many thought paulie won and he went crazy calling it a robbery so he could get attention but ive seen ten times worse robberies than that one.
rematch is set and he clearly beats a shot diaz. ths propels him into a fight with amir khan....
khan destroys him as expected
fights a couple bums and is gifted a shot at sencenko because sencenko who never beat a soul in his career wanted a name on his resume so they chery picked paulie...
cherry pick gone wrong! senchenko turned out to be a huge bum and lost. he never should have had a belt to begin with but now paulie crowns himself 2 division champ....what a world
next fight he takes a soft defense against a guy shot morales just ko'd....
cherry pick gone wrong!!! cano easily beats paulie but is robbed in order to preserve another big fight where someone can beat up paulie
for some reason paulie vs shot judah was a main event fight. paule wins but no one remembers the trash
next fight broner wants an easy belt and beats paulie. paulie acts like an idiot so he can get more big fights down the line...
even thogh hes coming off a loss he gets a title shot against porter and is easily destroyed
even though hes coming off 2 losses he gets another pbc main event fight and is easly destroyed by garcia
beats a couple bums and is prob one fight away from being sacrificed to another bigg name but loses to some guy named sam eggington
thus this ends the fraudulent career of paulie malignaggi. a boxer with next to no talent who through sheer luck of circumstance and talking nonsense made upwards of 10 million dollars in his career. i dont know whether to praise him or slam him. i would prob do the same but boxing clearly has a viewership problem if they keep showing these also rans over and over simply because they are names.
please comment on paulies career. did you think it was great? overrated? was he a bum? super talented? did he deserve all those beatings and big fights after never beating anyone good? please like comment and subscribe. next up zab "million shots" judah
I'm gonna have to check out that Ngoudjo fight. I think you summarized it well, Daggum. The amount of main events he's headlined is somewhat startling. He's talked himself into some good paydays and "sheer circumstance" has allowed him to stay relevant more than his accomplishments beg.
Don't forget the McGregor fiasco. The man disgraced boxing.
McGregor clearly said that he wanted to have a proper sparring war with Paulie. Paulie should have known better, the McGregor camp has been posting pictures of Conor beating up his bum sparring partners and there was the Van Heerden thing with the video before that. What the hell did he expect? Of course Conor is going to have his people with cameras around. And obviously given Conor's mentality and his promotion of the fight they were obviously going to try to do anything to make it look like Paulie got beat up.
To me it was pretty obvious when I first heard Conor talk about inviting Paulie and I said to myself Paulie should better be ready.
The moron Paulie however came in Conor's camp completely out of shape and made himself an easy target. Then he started this ridiculous drama which is one of the most hilarious things we ever witnessed in a pre-fight build up.
He really made boxing and boxers look like a joke. Fortunately Floyd will set the record straight. We're lucky that Conor didn't pick Paulie because who knows what the hell would happen, Paulie would certainly find ways to make himself look like an idiot.
I think Paulie really thought that they were just going to be in awe of him and let him talk for hours and that he would lecture them on everything. In reality, Conor was very honest about his intentions.
Hit the play button and then read.
