Why do I have a feeling that those saying Floyd could be 60 and beat McGregor will suddenly say he was too old if McGregor wins?
I have a hard time believing McGregor would get any credit, when all we've heard in response to Paulie's encounter with McGregor has been he was "too old" (he's 5 years younger than Floyd) and "ring rust" (he was out for a 5 months)
Will any of you step up right now and promise not to use Floyd's age and absence from the ring as an excuse if he falls?
To be fair, if Conor loses his fans will say that boxing is a "limited form of fighting" and that McGregor would destroy him if they fought in the octagon, even though that's a fairly flawed line of reasoning as well.
I don't think the age thing is an excuse, but we'll just have to wait until we actually see how well Mayweather performs come Saturday night. If he is at least just as good as he was the last time we saw him, then there is no excuse, it means he just lost via upset and that no one is invincible. If he shows up looking noticeably slower and a shell of his former self, then yeah, we can put it down to time finally catching up to him... Although even then, you'd think an older, master boxer like Floyd should still be able to handle a boxing novice with zero professional boxing matches like McGregor.
No. Just no. Regardless of Floyds decisions to not drink, smoke, get fat between fights etc. HE IS OLD. Nobody can stop time. His bone density is reducing, ligaments between joints are worn from years of extreme use, his testosterone levels are lowering... he’s 40 years old.
On top of being a 40 year old fighter he’s also extremely small for his weight class. He also has not fought in 2 years.
So if Conor wins, does he get the same credit he would if he beat a prime boxer who was actually his size? HELL NO.
He’s fighting a 40 year old man off a 2 year lay off that weighs 20 pounds less then him.
Imagine Conor vs any top 154 or 160 pound fighter??
The Charlos,Canelo,Cotto,Andrade,Lara,ggg,Lemieux,Jacobs etc...
He would literally be fatally injured.
He’s cherry picking Floyd because of the $$$, Ffs Chris Van Heerden who was coming off a vacation handled Conor in sparring, and he’s a nobody ranked 27th in the world at welterweight.
When you have Alex Ariza's phone number, lowering testosterone levels is not something you need to worry about.
Boxing won't die if the old face of boxing loses.
The new face of boxing will be annointed on September 16, and his name will be Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin - AKA GGG
If Floyd loses GGG will fight McTapout next and save our sport by sending that leprechaun back to the land of the fairies for a liver transplant and bone grafts to repair his shattered jaw.
Lol, i like Conor's self confidence but i doubt he would ever step foot in a ring with GGG. It would take a LOT of money for Conor to even consider taking that awful beating, probably more than the fight could draw.
40 is the new 30. 40 isn't too old, especially when you don't get hit much and have career breaks like Floyd.
Must have bought him a good few years.

If Conor loses its probably cuz he's not a boxer or gots sh^t stamina. If Floyd loses its probably cuz he's too old or didn't take the fight seriously enough. Its not that serious. And it could end up being that Floyd was just 2nd best on Aug. 26.
Idk why people get so caught up in "excuses" or reasons someone lost as I like to call them, like there aren't reasons someone lost thats not simply being second best or is a reason they were second best on that particular day.
There are no such things as reasons someone lost at Bscene. Just bragging rights and humble pie.
All boxing fans will be in panic this Saturday, they will be making up all types of excuses once Floyd gets KOd in 10 seconds. I had a KO in 43 seconds but Conor has only spared him 10 so I am going with that. 10 seconds and this man along with boxing dies.

He Is too old.
If Floyd loses wouldn't it be more likely that he's too old or too rusty or too something rather than he was 2nd best? I mean I suppose you can always say a guy is 2nd best when he loses, but thats a short sighted way of looking at it cuz I'd be surprised if 10% of people think a 35 year old Floyd loses to Conor if a 40 year old Floyd lost to Conor.

See ... we have our "excuse" if McTapout lands a lucky punch, and it's a good one!
But what are you McQuitter groupies gonna say if the young, strong, greatest combat athlete in the history of martial arts gets clowned and KO'd by retired old feather-fisted Floyd?
Floyd is old, but even an old retired boxer not named Mayweather would beat Conor. Put Mosley, Mayorga, or whoever else in their mid-40's and they beat Conor too. Age isn't an excuse in this fight

If Conor wins for real I will be extremely impressed. Mayweather has aged very well and even a 40 year old Mayweather is hard to beat. I don't believe a 60 year old Mayweather could beat Conor but I am very confident the 40 year old Mayweather beats him easily. With the incredible amount of money that could be made from a rematch it must be tempting for Mayweather to let Conor win to set one up. I am not saying Mayweather would do that. He has lots of pride and doesn't need the money. I just think a Conor win is so unlikely that I couldn't rule out a Mayweather dive if he won unless he won by a brutal KO due to a very hard punch,
