It was not historic, yes he won the alphabet belts but lets be honest he did not have to beat the best or someone on his level....
don't get me wrong it looks great on paper HOWEVER it don't mean much the bum he beat on saturday beat a bum to get those belts
if there was boxers like khan, garcia, midana, peterson, and bradley in the weight class then i could respect it more...
hopefully he will go up to 147 considering he is in the ring at dam near 160
think he is a good fighter but we will see what he can do at 147-154....
This is just bull**** hate and discrediting of a historic boxing achievement that occurred in front of a casual audience.
Boxing is going mainstream now so hopefully negative, opinions like this start to drown out and limited to a niche group of negative fans. And you wonder why boxing is losing to mma right now. The sports own fans downplay historical achievements.

How far do want to move the goal post?
Why not go up to 168?
SMH. Ok, let me put it to you this way. Pac and Floyd between 130 and 140 beat some pretty great fighters. So a fantasy match up between them and other fighters between that weight can be argued because they faced pretty good fighters in those weight classes. Now, taking bias out of it, based off of Crawford's resume between 135 and 140, would you pick him to beat any of those guys? No, because he hasn't fought anyone that would make you think that he would. Why do you think everybody picks Ali over Marciano? It's because Ali has a better resume even though Marciano was just as skilled.
Ok I'm a Canadian both my parents are Italian. I would love to agree with you but Marciano is not as talented as Ali. He just isn't. He would give him a good fight and may even beat him if all the stars aligned but not more talented. Those fighters your comparing Crawford to aren't on the list of unified champions. If you want to be the unified champion you have to fight the other title holders. Even if they aren't the best fighters in the division. I think it's good for boxing and Crawford deserves respect.

That's a pretty high standard. You pick the best fighters in the last 15 years and he has to beat all of them in order for you to give him props. Not only does he gave to beat them but he has to beat them in their absolute prime. You didn't say that but I convinced that's how you see it Never mind that these guys beat lots if non ATG fighters while building up their reputation.

Because resume matters. Looking at Crawford's resume would you favor him over a Prime Oscar, Floyd, Manny, Mosley? No.

Tito and Oscar are both naturally smaller than Hopkins. When Tito was scheduled to fight Bernard there was a lot of talk about how much of a challenge it was, I thought that was idiotic Anyone that had watched the prior fights of the two guys knew Hopkins would beat him. This is not taking anything away from Hopkins he had a remarkable career. Crawford deserves respect for what he accomplished IMO.
He should get respect he's the #1 guy at 140
But he beat a collection of whatever's to get his straps
I give more credit to beating smaller HOFers in big fights then beating a a group of mid range nobodies with maybe 3 decent wins between all 3 fighters.
It's not the same from my point of view.
why do people think the khan-maidana-garcia era was good??? old morales went tooth and nail with 2 of of those guys. the guy was supposively shot to sh-it in the 2nd pac fght like 6 years earlier but ok
A little bit of revisionist history on your part
None of top guys from a few years back where around when Crawford moved up. Add to it that Top Rank basicalky owns the WBO and that's another reason why you don't see all 4 belts together because it'll only happen if it's a Top Rank fighter
Of course saying they ran from Crawford is Hypothetical! Yeah most of them outgrown the weight by the time he started to take over 140 leaving him to fight Dulorme, Lundy, Jean. Postol beating Matthysse also changed things. But hey he is about to move up to 147 so we might still get all those fights including Thurman and Spence Jr so :dunno:
I agree with Unification seems more likely if you're on the Arum side of things because of his relationship with the WBO!
Yeah I kind of agree
It's nice in Theory that's he got all the straps but the competition level is whatever and for me makes the achievement less notable
I mean B-hop needed to beat Tito & Oscar to get there both big names and future HOFers
Bud beat Dulhorme , Postol and Indongo that's not a impressive list

Its definitely a historical moment I couldn't give less f#cks about, but he's beat the best challenger out there for him twice now in about a year which is what a top guy in a division should be doing, but they almost never do so he's got my respect for that.
This. Who posses a threat? Lipinets, Orozco and Mikey don't. The Thurman vs Spence fight will happen soon enough and Crawford will get his shot at the Pac-Horn winner so... This might only be the first of two divisions he'll probably have a unification fight in...
It was a great win for him. The African had a good record and he just slaughtered him. He made a decent fighter look like a bum just as GGG often made decent fighters look like bums. Crawford seems to be able to make 140 with no problem so he can stay there and kick more ass if he wants to in my opinion. He shouldn't have to move up to 154 to prove his greatness as a 140 pound boxer. Pryor and Tszyu never fought at any weight but 140 and they are considered good to great champions. You are right that it wasn't a great historical fight. It was just another impressive win for Crawford. If he does move to 147 Maidana and Bradley are retired and I think he could easily beat Khan, Peterson and Garcia. I think he would be a 50-50 fight with Thurman but I think Spence would beat him.
That is not his fault! It probably could've been Crawford vs Broner if Borner didn't start jumping all over the place with his weight and moving up to 147 :dunno:
I think people ran from Crawford from 140 just like people ran from Rigo at 122! :dunno:
Not Crawford fault that: Danny Garcia, Adrian Broner, Lucas Matthysse (Lost To Postol), Lamont Peterson all moved up without fighting him. That being said, Crawford just getting started and just hitting his Prime and Peak as a fighter, he is not retiring after this Unification. After this big accomplishment he has a chance to add to it at 147! Lets hope that guys don't run off to 154 once he officially moves up :lol1:
If he moves up and beat Jeff Horn for that WBO Title then guess what people are still going to have the same Criticism "Horn Wasn't That Good!"

Completely disagree, he beat Postol who a lot thought would KO him and he KO'd Indigo, I think when he goes up to 147 he is really going to show us how great he really is.

I'd give him credit if he beats a Horn who beats Pac again. I'll tell you this, that fight would not be a Ko.
