I honestly dont really see why he gets so much **** , everytime hes "quit" he was in very tough fights and seriously got hurt. Just because a fighter is hurt and feels they cannot continue doesnt make them a quitter.
Just look at the last berto fight, he dropped berto, then got dropped. Then got nailed with a nasty uppercut i mean you got see by the shot and by his condition after he was done. How is that quitting he was not able to continue fighting and would have got ktfo anyway.
I think he just gets too much **** for throwing in the towel
it's also because the sum of his quitting incidents. Against Maidana you could reason it, because he was young (but in my opinion that was the most straight case of quitting).
Then his freak show with mayweather was even more embarassing than quitting. First he kisses mayweather, gets knocked out with a rather cheap shot and after he got up was all smiles. lol
Then he quits, because of a broken jaw. Some boxers get trough with it, some dont. As a single case, it's forgivable.
Then he took a good clean right hand against collazzo, was able to stumble two steps and lands on his knees and just sits there. Getting counted out.
Then he fights against berto. Before the fight started he is singing rocking like a hurricane and everyone wonders what is wrong with the tree. In the fight he looked tight and composed. Gets hit with a nasty uppercut, but was clear eyed and could bounce on his toes. Berto goes for the kill, lands a good shot, Ortiz goes down again. Ortiz contemplates about his life choices and is like I dont want this **** anymore and quits. Gets a bottle thrown at him.
Then he was on celebrity family feud, that was cringy lol.
Maybe my memory is foggy, but I recall Berto knocking him down with an uppercut, and him getting up. His legs were unsteady, but they weren't so bad that he couldn't get up. I remember him looking the ref directly in the eyes when the ref asked if he wanted to continue and he deliberately didn't reply. Maybe he would've lost anyway. Maybe he would've got knocked out in the next 30 seconds. But rather than give himself a chance, he chose to pack it in and go home.

He mentally quit when Maidana got off the canvas, and josesito broke his jaw and he quit. Ever see Aurther Abraham fight when his jaw was broke and his chin looked like a pancake t1tty?
He's weak minded. If he's the guy giving the beating, he's fine, but when he starts getting hit back he can't tolerate it and he mentally folds. That makes him a quitter.
You can quit it many different ways. Victors done them all. Straight up quit against Maidana, claimed he didn’t deserve punishment like that.
Lopez broke his jaw, he quit.
Collazo rocked him & Ortiz COULD have gotten up, but pretended he was incoherent and out. (Pretending your ko’d When you can continue is a way to quit)
Against Mayweather he fouled then hugged and kissed like a hom0...not quitting but weak and shows his lack of heart and character.
Berto hurt him but Ortiz could of continued, he used his acting skills to pretend he was out on his feet, he deliberately didn’t answer the ref when asked if he was ok multiple times, ref stopped it. That’s quitting.
I use to think Ortiz was awesome back in 09. 8 years later he’s the biggest joke in the sport.
