Mitt work from today's Media Workout
Cotto looks sharp and hitting hard with his punches.
I like Kamegai as a fighter, he always gives exciting fights, he's a good person and a warrior, but after watching this I got Cotto by knockout by the 8th round or so.
I think Thurman might be too young and good for Cotto at this stage of his career, just my opinion though.
Danny Garcia, I don't know why but I just can't get myself up for that one, not sure why.
Was just thinking out of his possible options like Kell Brook, Khan, Margarito 3 or Matthysse.
Between those guys, if he fights Brook and wins people will say Brook was already done after losing back to back to GGG and Spence.
If he beats Khan, people will say Khan was a glass jawed bum who just got KO'd and is a part time boxer, etc., etc..
Margarito I would like to see because Cotto would beat his ass really bad right now. They have a lot of history together, bad blood. But....Margarito is way past it though. He's 39 years old and done, will people pay for that on PPV?
This brings me to Mathysse. He had the best performance on the Canelo-Chavez card, he performed better than Canelo, Lemieux, etc...
The trainer rivalry between Joel Diaz and Roach would be renewed.
At this stage of both guys careers it just makes the most sense for both. It would also be easy to make since both are with Golden Boy.
But this is just my opinion though. I respect yours too on who you want to see Cotto fight.
But we will see what happens, we'll find out soon enough after Kamegai.
I feel u and respect ur opinion bro.
You might be right with thurman but i feel itll be very competitive and we saw thurman when he took them body shots from collazo and was hurt i feel cotto could hurt him and is a winnable fight. I feel danny and him could havr a huge all rican fight at the garden and could kinda be like a passing of thr torch if danny can pull off the upset. I like the khan and brook fights also and but u are right he wont get credit if he beats brook because of eyes and khan would go to sleep. Margarito i feel is done at this poiny and doesnt deserve a big money fight. I just dont feel matthysse is a big enough name for the event at the moment. I feel like hes looking for a one last big event and while matthysse is certainly dangerous lile the others his name not really known. My preference would be bradley but since he retired its not gonna happen.
Cotto is fighting a guy who lost to Guerrero man....Should be over in under 6 rounds
Guerrero squeaked by that fight. Haven't watched it since it aired live but I remember thinking it could have been a draw.
I dont wanna see him fight matthysse. I rather see him fight a danny garcia or a thurman at like 150 that would be a huge fight. Can you imagine cotto vs Garcia at the garden in december. That would be amazing.

Marquez is retired, looks like Shane decided to retire as well. Cotto already stated that this is his last year so he is retiring by years end.
And yeah, to me he looks good. They are working on attacking from angles and the sides, that's why you see sticking and moving. It's part of the game plan for Kamegai. He's punching crisply, movement looks good. For pad work/mitt work and what they are working on for the fight it looks good.
But anyway, Cotto will be on the list with the many others that decided 2017 they would retire.
Hopefully a fight like Cotto-Matthysse gets made for December 2nd, then after that retirement.

Don't like how Roach threw Pac under the bus and said he's old and should retire, yet he's saying Cotto has a chance of beating Golovkin, when Cotto himself said it's his last fight. Roach is such a leech.

"looking sharp"?????.................really?
He looks like he's falling forward as he punches.
Not sure why Freddy doesn't have him "finish" after he throws. Thats a main purpose of using pads instead of just standing there after your combinations are thrown. Everyone today just throws 2 punches then moves away! Hell if you land the two keep coming and throw 3!!!!
Cotto, Marquez and Shane need to join Wlad and Bernard and Tim go home. Lil' Floyd is next and Golovkin too.
If your fighting easy at the end it's ok to pick up the pennies but that should only be 2 fights when your still making big money.
Lets make room for the young men rising.

I'll say about 8 rounds or so. Soto-Karass knocked out Berto and wobbled and hurt Thurman for a moment when he took a punch. Kamegai ate Soto-Karass punches clean and didn't flinch and Kamegai knocked Soto-Karass out too in his last fight. He kept coming on Guerrero too.
For that I give him some durability, but I think he gets KO'd for the first time in his career against Cotto in about 8 rounds or so.
