So? Tell me the best guys that Sugar Ray Robinson defeated. People keep talking ****, like he is better than Roy Jones Jr and Sugar Ray Leonard, lol.
I don't care how good Robinson looked. He never beat anyone good. His best opponents would probably be gatekeepers today, if not journeymen. Respect the legend, but don't start claiming he would beat the modern greats, that's just stupid. The level is so much higher today.
I agree with this.
He beat 3 P4P #1 ranked fighters.
Duran was ranked #1
Hearns was ranked #1
Hagler was ranked #1
Don't forget Wilfredo Benitez, who was undefeated at the time, and another #1ish level guy, and was another bonafide champ he beat during their absolute prime, and got a TKO on him.
SRL literally has the best resume of all time, bar none. It's insane the amount of truly elite and ATG/legendary fighters he beat. And not just beating name guys that are known as legends, but during their absolute peaks.
No man in boxing history can say they beat every style imaginable, and the highest levels of those styles, and while they were at their absolute physical and mental peaks.
And there's so many other really good fighters he's beaten that would be champs in today's sorry state of boxing. Like Floyd Sr. Even though he did get shot prior to fighting SRL, he was still a beast in that ring.
I don't care what anyone says, imo, sugar Ray Leonard was the GOAT WW, and GOAT, period. Literally no boxer in the history of the game has beaten as many elite ATG fighters in their primes, and all with distinctly different styles as SRL has.
If there is a P4P GOAT in boxing, it has to be SRL. No weakness to Amy style, has beaten every style, and has beaten the most elite versions of those styles. GOAT resume, imo.
I agree with this.

Lol, answering your question is as easy as going to boxrec and looking at his resume.
The problem here is that you dont know (nor watched) who are people like basilio, gavilán, turpin, olson, graziano, basora, armstrong... you think that those are my neightbours' names. And that's only a problem of you having no F idea about this sport. You need way more time to understand the answer to your question rather than the time required for reading a list of names (that actually you have already read).
I mean.. this is a troll thread isn't it. Surely. If you don't have any knowledge on old time boxers, don't criticize them. Because SRR would more than likely breeze through any decade as a welter, bar the 80's in which would be the toughest. Not that his 8 years(?) Or so as a welter was easy. Kid gavilan, Jake LaMotta, Henry Armstrong, etc. Some of the p4p kings listed just in that sentence.
Add Carmen Basilio, Gene Fullmer, Ralph Dupas, Rocky Castellani.
Two hundred fights and only KO'd once in his life time. The greatness of Robinson can be seen in how he moves. Being able to fight forward, backward, and control the ring. Some of the best footwork of any fighter past or present. As much as I liked RJJ, he would have been exposed early on in his career had he faced Robison. I don't see any other modern day WW beating him either.
However, Robison was criticized for not facing any of the Black Murderer's Row of fighters in his day--Burley, Marshall, Williams, etc. None of them ever got their shot at Robinson, though LaMotta fought several of them.
Yeah i was gonna go back to it and do his post retirement career but never did. Surprisingly time consuming going through a career like that.
On another forum i got half way through breaking down his top fights.
Im not an expert so may have missed some or quite a few, or maybe included some which there is legit reasons to exclude them...

Yeah it's too bad Leonard never fought anyone bigger than him. He is really lacking there.
Maybe if he beat one of the top 3 Middleweights ever and stopped one of the biggest WW's ever he would be as impressive as Floyd.
SRL fought people bigger than him but he didnt humiliate them. EVERYONE Floyd fights is too big and too young, and he doesnt even have power to hurt them. Makes them look CRAZY. Its amazing that a fighter that dominant fought in our era. IDGAF about what SRL did to Hagler. That wasnt quite the Mayweather performance.
And Imagine if Floyd had SRL's size and body frame, and power. He would humiliate and TKO all of SRL's opponents including Hagler.
I look at it this way. If the two fought at Welterweight Floyd would lose.
I think Floyd would flatout humiliate SRL tbh. Because SRL is an outdated version of Floyd. Floyd is the pureboxer that SRL dreamed about being. Except SRL is taller. Being tall is not a good enough reason for me to believe that you can outMayweather, Mayweather. It would be like a vintage Floyd fight where some guy tries to outbox him, and we know how that plays out. And Floyd's reaction time, and instincts. He fights like a cat. I think SRL would be shocked to know he even exists!
Floyd is 20 times the fighter SRL ever will be. On paper, SRL has a better resume due to the names he fought. But 80% of Floyd's opponents are 15lbs bigger than him. He got to a point in his career, began aging backwards, faced young giants, didnt have the power to hurt them,
But was so talented, he humiliated them on pure skills. Their will never be another fighter like Floyd and SRL most def is NOT that guy. Imagine SRL being at the same circumstantial disadvantages as Floyd, he would get buttrapped in the ring.
In fact, their is no fighter in history that could be at Floyd's circumstantial disadvantages, and perform that well. Not one single fighter.
I have Floyd top ATG, Ali after Floyd. And Maybe SRL can find his way on the bottom of an ATG list, but Floyd is unmatched imo!

:lol1: good post, especially considering that welterweight would win titles all the way up to Cruiserweight.

Stop being lazy and making yourself look like a fool and do some research.
Who did he beat?
He beat everybody. Refer to the post of fighters listed. Btw he would have also beaten the Light Heavyweight Champion of the world but he nearly suffered from heat stroke. By all accounts he was winning the fight before his body failed him.
If you don't know who Kid Gavilan is for example then you need to do some home work
SRR started his career at a Junior Welterweight and he knocked out the Middleweight Champion going backwards in his 20th year as a pro.

I literally didn't read this. STFU.
