Next in the all access show? After mayweather beats him in the ring, the fight in the octagon will do even more buys and they both will be rich af. I don't think Maywheathers legacy takes a hit for losing in the octagon.
Will agree to disagree, as I believe that quitting will beget easier quitting (even in the Diaz rematch, the moment that Diaz started to find his range and for off again, McGregor openly started to run).
Folks who get knocked out, generally are able to come back from being knocked out; there's no real coming back from quitting, imo.
Right on, bro. Agree to disagree.:fing02::friday:
I don't know, man. My thing was a street thing, with some dick just seeing if he could sneak up & choke people out. McGregor does this for a living. As I said before, in the sport you can tap out if necessary and come back to fight another day. Which Conor did and won. If he had uselessly struggled until he actually got choked out, he would have had that stigmatism going into the rematch. I just think the psyche is affected differently when one submits to avoid getting choked out vs struggling like a caught fish & getting rendered unconscious anyway.

It would definitely sell millions of PPV buys, 3-4 million, but I don't see it happening, no way. At least not immediately after. Maybe after Floyd wastes most of his McGregor fight money, which is in like 2-3 years from now. So the possibility of it happening would be in 2019-2020, but very slim to none.
You're way off - Id say by Nov-Dec this year.
Floyd's probably training for MMA right now as we speak or will start immediately Sept.
Floyd Will net 750 million in 2017 alone.
Most importantly 2 wins over McGuzzler 1 in the ring 1 in the octagon.
In your story, you were able to escape; imagine if that shot to the gut didn't work, though.
With the arm still around your neck, would you have kept fighting or simply forfeit?
I don't know you from anyone, but my hopeful assumption is that you would've still had some fight in you, probably like the dude who was still trying as the choke set in.
The moment you get into a situation and accept forfeiting as an option, you will consider doing so again if the situation repeats itself.

Yeah ok. Id' like to see what you would do if you were getting choked out & couldn't escape. I had a guy try that on me, but I escaped with a shot to his gut. I saw that same guy try it on another guy, who couldn't escape, didn't submit & began to pass out. I'd say getting choked out is more damaging to the ego & psyche than tapping out.

Quitting is quitting, tbh; no different than boxing, once you get that quit in you, it turns up every time you're in trouble from that point on.
McGregor edged the rematch, off of leg kicks and running late; if they were to fight again, at any weight, I don't see how you'd be able to favor Conor, tbh

You don't know what he felt. Getting choked out to the point of being rendered unconscious is not healthy nor sensible. It also does nothing to bolster confidence in a rematch. If he knew he wasn't going to break Diaz's hold & was going to Ko'd, why not tap out? He came back & won the rematch, something he may not have had the heart to do if he had an actual KO loss on his mind.

Holly Holm didn't quit, and that was in the fifth round of a fight where she was defending her belt. Kept fighting until the lights went out, and even then kept fighting.
McGregor did no such thing; he's started fast, started to slow down, got tagged with a bomb on the point of the chin, shot a desperation double-leg, and tapped out before Nate Diaz could even sink it all the way in.

Submissions, bro! If somebody gets their digs deep in your shit where you can't breathe or escape, you'll quit too. But Mayweather is a master runner, grabber, holder & pot-shooter. I'll give him that. If McGregor is able to touch him with power, we'll see a fine display of Mayweather's track skills! :lol1:

We'll just have to disagree then but as someone who has spent a lot of time training in MMA, and specifically grappling, you can't just be a boxer who knows how to sprawl. James Toney learned that the hard way. Chuck Liddell had a wrestling background and many or most the better boxers in MMA had grappling backgrounds. You don't pick up grappling at 40. It's incredibly hard on the joints and the things Floyd would have to learn are just not possible. Not unless he were to dedicate every waking hour to them for several years. And even then...
One problem. You're not Floyd.
That's life, though. People eat the foods that have no nutritional value to them, thirst after the hot chick that they've never thought of speaking a word to, buy the car that goes 200mph and 0-60 in a blink (knowing full well that they can't even legally go 75mph hardly anywhere), and a host other ridiculous stuff (couldn't imagine the type of tribalism that comes from folks supporting ancestral homes that folks in their family haven't seen in generations).
Sometimes you just have to indulge in the silliness; the trick is knowing when you are indulging and take it for what it is.
Throw the party (or go to the party), enjoy the time out with your people, and take it for what it is; two celebrities fighting. It's literally Celebrity Deathmatch, without all of the death and with two live people.
No doubt; I think it's preposterous, but my buddy wants to buy it. He thinks Coner can land a lucky shot & drop Floyd. So I said, "Fuck it, I'll come over, cook out, eat, drink, laugh & say I told you so when the fight doesn't go the way you expect". Should be fun.
Ummm. Isn't submitting quitting? He didn't only quit he gave up his back. He turned around because he was getting his face beat in. He was getting knocked out either way...
Didn't he win the rematch with Diaz?? But yeah, you're right, McGregor ain't shit. That's why Floyd is fighting him in this giant circus-like event. :lol1:

Not quitting 3 times lol you must of meant Pacquiao school. Floyd don't quit.

When you think about it, it's all really quite absurd. This whole cross-sport thing between a 40 year old boxer named Floyd Joy Sinclair and a 29 year old MMA fighter named Conor Anthony McGregor, is nothing more than a blatant money grab built on sheer spectacle. We're all goofy for buying into it, but that's entertainment. PS if my middle name were Joy, I'd change it too. :lol1:

Whatever McGregor's odds are for the boxing match you would have to triple them for Mayweather if they ever fought in the Octagon, there's so many ways Conor could finish the fight.
And if Lebron played hockey against Gretzky the odds would be crazy as well

The thing about this is that Floyd has made more money fighting in a Boxing ring than Mcgregor has ever made fighting in the octagon.
There is no need for Floyd to visit MMA because he makes more money in Boxing than the MMA guys ever could in their own sport. :boxing:

James Toney showed up, didn't train a moment of MMA, got in with one of the UFC's best wrestlers, got ankle picked (Couture try to actually throw hands with James Toney for even a second), and the fight was over before it could even start.
I've had all of one training session in highschool wrestling and I can't believe that you can't take an athletically gifted person, even at the age of 40, and teach them how to stop a takedown in six months of work.
Will agree to disagree
