The self-proclaimed 'Best Ever', 49-0, multiple weight champion and all that, boxing's cash cow. Versus a complete novice to the sport with no amateur backround, 0-0. What does it say about boxing if somebody can just "roll up" and take the sports best the distance? Personally I'd say that's embarrassing.
I think this fight more than any other fight in boxing history can a moral victory mean so much to a fighter than it will for Conor Mcgregor. As Eff Panda pointed out earlier, 1 single "solid" punch landed will be +1 for Conor and the MMA community. In an odd sense, this is an extremely dangerous fight for Mayweather because besides a huge payday, Floyd has everything to lose. No1 will give 2 sh1ts what Mayweather did his entire career if Conor hit the lotto. Floyd on the other hand is by a majority of boxing hardcores (myself included) to TKO Mcgregor. Personally I think he will, I think it goes 7 or 8 and although I refuse to pay for this fight, Id be extremely dissappointed if this fight ends in any different way. People can spin this however they want but lets be real, an Olympic bronze boxing medalist, 49-0 as a pro against a 21-3 MMArtist? Damn...
a shut out is expected for a match up like this so it aint nuthin special. floyd needs to stop conor within 6 rounds, break conor's nose and at least bust up one of conor's eye. anything less than this is an L for floyd, the floyd fans, and boxing as a whole.
That's true, I just don't see Floyd being offensive, but maybe he will and get him out of there quick
there's always talk on how floyd is dropping his sparring partners
and now he'll be facing a noob of boxing
he needs to get the K.O..
or at least in my opinion
it's a lose for him
This event is kind of like the superbowl. There is so much money involved i would think that the sponsors would want Floyd to carry Connor for more than 6 rounds at least.
Surviving 12 rounds would be bad yes bad but funny enough a Conor win would be GOOD for boxing. It would not mean that MMA > boxing at all as Conor is so far ahead of your typical MMA striker.
If Conor wins he will have to be considered a legit BOXER, that used boxing skills to beat the best boxer there is. How is that bad?
We'd have Conor VS Canelo and Conor VS GGG to look forward to. A Conor win would be HUGE for boxing and take all the spotlight off MMA. Don't think for one second Dana White actually wants Conor to win.

brock beat on a bunch of old guys or guys that were damaged good. as soon as he stepped up to someone decent and still in
their prime (cain velasquez) he lost.
he beat randy couture, when randy was pushing near 60! on his way out! lol. and randy was never being talked about as one of ufc greatest. he beat frank mir, another fighter on his way out. and then with shane carwin, another old ass fighter. all 3 of these guys were never being talked about as ufc greatest.
I swear I remember Frank putting Brock in a leg hold and made him tap???

it's a huge ripoff if all pbf (p*ssy boy floyd) could do is survive, run, potshot, hold, run, survive... he's supposed to entertain the crowd.
don't know why people are willing to reward this guy $100 million for something even lara can do.
A f*cking pro wrestler won the UFC HW title in his 4th fight in the sport. MMA seems to have survived.
And yes, I know Lesnar won the NCAA title twice. He was still a complete novice.
First off Floyd is NOT the best of this era, he was the best of his era which was years ago.
If he were the best now he'd be fighting Thurman or Spence or go after the biggest pay out with GGG. You see the best welter ever would go after the Middle Weight Champ not an mma guy without boxing bouts or experience.
Floyd will most likely go the difference if he thinks that Connor won't "play nice" like Pacman did.
This garbage is practically scripted for the pressers and if these two
"actors" have the nerve they'll go to the cage after the boxing match. Don't be surprised because there's tons of "fans" that actually buy in to this tripe! Just look at good "ol' Rasting" today everything is a show. The stars must survive to play again!!!
Just imagine if Connor was a heavyweight back in the 60's!!!
He and Ali wouldn't need to fight they would just travel around "playing" the pressers!!!
We have Chocolatito, Lomo, Rigo, Spence, Crawford, Canelo, GGG and more who come to fight as a real champion has always done. Now we have a side show with clowns generating interests with the casual fans who are brought into the side show mentality because it's "shiny"!
There's always fans who need the side show antics because the real deal of the competition evades them. Love that Rastlin'.....

The only way I see a stoppage is if McTapOut calls it quits late into the fight, I'm expecting him to gas half way and I'm expecting his lack of character to show. Floyd is too happy to coast. He doesn't care for the sport's reputation because he gets paid anyway. But if this goes to distance and if Floyd is unwilling to try and take him out, then Floyd should be remembered for the harm he did to the sport.
but i thought floyd was suppose to walk manny down late and stop him? now floyd is not known for knockouts?
I don't know why you quoted me, as I never said Floyd would stop Manny
Floyd needs to absolutely stop Conor in an impressive fashion. This alone will get all of the "casuals" to watch boxing again and bring boxing back to the mainstream popular sport it once was.
If Conor wins, then all of these casuals and even boxing fans will turn to the UFC and other MMA brands as they have been.
This "fight" is definitely hurting boxing already. Every boxing fan and or casual has looked up who McGregor is and watched his highlights and have taken an interest to MMA. That combined with the corrupt judges/referees/promotors in our sport, in my opinion, it is turning people away from boxing.
If Floyd can't easily dominate and humiliate Conor; then it validates the opinion that boxing is just "a limited set of rules" and any MMA striker can compete with the best in boxing.
I absolutely don't agree with this, and my hope is that Floyd puts the ocean of subtlety between the 2 sports on full display.
If Floyd can't stop him, I'll personally find it embarrassing for boxing.
