Are there any "acceptable" excuses for Conor McGregor defeating Mayweather?
- Your chin is the first thing to go, Floyd got old
- Reflexes have slowed, Floyd got old
- Reach disparity threw-off Floyd
- Awkward style/Unknown factor threw-off Floyd
- Conor ripped-off blueprint from other Floyd opponents
- I predict it goes 12 RDs-- Judges forced rematch/hate Floyd
- Bogus stoppage, Ref forced rematch/hates Floyd
- No Excuses. Conor proves he's actually a great Boxer by defeating TBE
If there is NO EXCUSE for Floyd losing, then what would that mean for Conor McGregor? The only man to defeat TBE. 1-0. How great would Conor be considered in the sport of Boxing?
The only valid excuse is medical anomaly. Like he has a stroke, or an undetected tumor compromises his balance, or he catches ebola, or his ankle splits wide open Haye style.
He would've gotten old. No excuse. Just truth. A 41 yo guy always has a chance to have lost a step on any given moment.
Plain and simple.
That don't want to see this as reality, to them Floyd is always prime while all the others age and get old.
There is a good interview with Ray Leonard stating that's its not about Connor its about what does Floyd have left at this stage of his career.
If Floyd gets old that's the ONLY way he can lose.
Max Kellerman's excuse...
- "What I would be forced to say is he's an unnaturally great fighter... he would just have to be an unreal modern-day Bruce Lee kind of fighter"

I think McGregor's best chance is to get Floyd into an awkward position and try to punch him through the ropes. No doubt he's seen the Joe Smith fight and knows Floyd has only 20 seconds to climb back in.
I didn't see this in the poll
but the excuse which i believe with my heart would be:
Floyd has a small little peanut head
no way he can withstand the punches of the great irish warrior, McGregor!
His team are dumb for letting him fight this beast of a man
Everyone is looking after their own paycheck and not looking after floyds
Health
:(
Something tells me Floyd gets injured during the fight like Haye-Bellew and things get really interesting.
Imagine a hard shot behind the ear lands on him and he can't recover?
After the Cubs and Trump won, I can't say something is impossible.
Never had a boxing dream before, but dream't that I was watching the replay of Floyd getting stopped. No idea which round, but he was hurt and partially under the bottom rope unable to get up, with the fight being stopped (by his Dad or Roger).
Might be worth a tenner at the bookies :cool2:
Most of those excuses are weak sauce
If Mayweather comes in there and looks even 10% of how he did against Berto he'll be fine
Yeah, Conor has no shot man. I seen him spar with those big gloves he is slow and Floyd will roll all that and touch Conor with the upper cut all night, and Conor wll tire he tires fast from punching he is a big boy.
Age is nothing when you are a pocket defender with a good shoulder roll, Floyd sr is 65 years old yet he was rolling and countering a 24 year old Charlie Zelennofs Maidana power punch haymakers.
Transplanting this post here:
That's the casual perspective, boxing has been "dying" for decades because of a lack of casual appeal, and yet it's still around making money.
MMA casual fans want this to be MMA vs boxing but in reality it's Floyd vs Conor.
Even if McGregor beats an old Floyd it won't discredit boxing other than to the casual MMA fan.
Could Mcgregor beat Golovkin? Canelo? Spence? Brook? Or even Jeff Horn? Or any other younger boxer who is known for any amount pf power, or would he get his ass dominated?
If McGregor gets lucky and somehow beats Floyd he will have beaten a retired 40 year old great boxer who is known for his defensive style that doesn't get knockouts.
It would be a bad look but the casual MMA attention span is like that of an average goldfish so it wouldn't last long.
