Whilst I believe kovalev's inability to defend himself due to his fatigue, conditioning and sustained pressure that was mounting on him was the defining factor Weeks called the fight off as it appeared Kovalev was not protecting him and can be perceived as 'I quit' by Kovalev which was the more of the cringeworthy and embarrassing of the two between when Broner was rolling around on the floor play acting trying to get Maidana suspended because he had taken a systematic beating at the hands of Chino.
Whilst Broner's wasn't an actual quit as Kovalev's wasn't his could be perceived more of a quit through his desperation to get out of the ring by any means possible.
Discuss, poll to follow.
i really don't think kovalev quit. he was bent over at the waist from low blows, and he'd already been hammered low all night.
he was 100% fading and may have gotten stopped anyway, but the guy was getting pounded on the nuts and should have been given 5 minutes to recover on several occasions and in several different rounds. ward's a dirty fighter. he just is. he's not evander holyfield, but he's not mother teresa, either. i've been a fan of the guy for a long, long time now, but i'm honest.
just because a guy is losing a fight, you don't like him, etc, doesn't excuse his opponent from fouling. ward consistently went low. i really don't put aton of blame on ward. it's a pro boxing match and you take what you can get. i blame weeks. that was one of the worst refereeing jobs we have seen in a while. kovalev shoul dhave been given time to recover, especially in that ending sequence where a series of low blows ended the fight. FFS you can't get a better camera angle than the one that is floating around of the final blow. it was so f#cking low :lol1:.
Neither of those was a quit... Broner was trying to get a point taken and Kov was tired/got low blowed (stoppage was still premature IMO).
Really didn't know people hate Kov this much until now. Their imaginations are running wild. Descriptions of the fight have been passed along so many times they don't even vaguely resemble reality.
Apparently he was subjected to an 8 round one-sided assbeating and begged Weeks to stop the fight following a beautiful liver shot. lmao.
Lol, Kovalev must be a mutant human being then because I never knew the liver was that low.
Lol, someone mentioned Cintron leaping out of the ring.
Most embarrassing for a boxer that I didn't like was Acelino Freitas. The way he quit was disgraceful. I remember how he quit against Diego Corrales and also how he quit against Juan Diaz. And after he quit against Diaz he had the nerve to have a member of his team carry him on his shoulders while he was smiling waving to the crowd with his arms up in the air as if he was victorious.
Acelino Freitas, those quit jobs changed his career forever.
Quitting on the stool is also embarrassing if it's the fighter who says he doesn't want to fight. If the trainer, doctor or ref stop it while on the stool then it's not so bad.
vitali klitschko versus chris byrd
He had a serious shoulder injury. I dont get when people critisize a fighter for things like that. His shoulder was seriously ****ed up.

He took a beating in the 8th, he was going downhill from around the 5th though. It was clear that his power would not be a factor with the first few rds however, and ultimately that is what took his confidence and broke him. You don't like it? That's fine, but that 8th rd was an ass whipping.

Did Kovalev quit ?
That's very novel of you to compare your life experiences to that of Kovalev Yes he quit, so what ?
You answered your own question bud
End the fxckin thread:headbang:/
Broner didn't quit but he definitely tried to. Really acted up that headbutt, after tying Maidana up with all his might.
I'd say Walters is the worst I've seen. Duran of course had the ATG quit against Leonard.
Exactly my point, I should have changed the poll to 'who was most desperate to quit'. Noob mistake 101.
Though I don't really dislike kovalev (I dislike most of his fans here), no matter who you are, it takes guts to go into combat...guts that most here don't have. I get very irritated when people b1tch and moan about a guy quitting because it's better to fight another day instead of winding up injured permanently, or dead. Having heart is great, but heart will get you killed, so before anyone makes comments about any fighter quitting...are you going to pay for their families bills? Kids college? Ok, then stfu.
On topic, the least injured fighter that I've seen quit that comes to mind is Walters vs lomachenko....he outright quit because he was getting schooled and was heading for a ko loss....but he wasn't taking severe damage.
Im a Ward and Kovalev fan. I just don't like people saying he's a coward, to me a coward is a guy who's straight up rolling around pretending to be hurt and can't continue, absolutely soul destroyed the referee drags him to his feet and orders him to a neutral corner to carry on with a look on his face like he's gonna bust into tears at any moment then afterwards has to be supported out of the ring as though he can't walk from the butt fückin Chino gave him in the 11th.

Kovalev is the worst thing I have seen in a while
His reputation is absolutely destroyed
It's fxckin funny though
And he will vent it all on his next opponent haha
Yeh Kovalev is a real shyt house stepping in the ring with a guy of the calibre of Ward....
Hopkins and Judah had some ATG acting performances, but as far as actual quits go, Walters to Loma is one of the most shameful in recent memory.
Walters had the fight beat out of him just like Kovalev did. I never saw those two rolling around attempting to have their opponent disqualified, Kovalev's shots whilst borderline weren't the balls and I guess his actions could be perceived like Broner's attempting to have his opponent disqualified but I never saw that guy rolling around acting like a straight bytch.

But broner didn't quit lol wtf.
He damn tried, looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but that ring. I remember watching it with a friend and we both felt really sorry for him.
