That they might not overturn the Ward-Kovalev result because they already had to overturn the Rigo fight?
Not wanting to admit the officials screwed up twice in the same night?
There's no overruling this. Kovalev quit. Weeks gave him a few chances actually. He could wave the fight off the moment Kovalev turned around completely from his opponent. Stupid.
Dan Rafael reported earlier that the NSAC reviewed the fight and will change the official result to 'No Decision'.

That would be the right call. It's in the rules unintentional foul that results in a fighter being incapacitated = a no contest. They where both throwing the better punch landed. They should rematch imo.
I don't think it's likely that they will overturn it
In Rigo's case the ref's decision was clearly an egregious error. The shot landed clearly after the bell, which cannot be ruled a legit knockout. There was no ambiguity. The KO was not partially caused by legal punches or anything like that. It was just an illegal punch lead to invalid KO, that had to be overturned.
In Ward's case, the ref's decision was a poor use of judgement given that the final blow or so was low, but the ref's decision to wave off the fight probably included consideration of many things up till that moment including the many legal shots prior to the low blows as well as Kovalev's demeanor, defense, punch output etc. In this case the decision was not good, because Kovalev should have been given time to rest instead and perhaps a point docked from Ward. But idk if NSAC will overturn the official outcome that was the result of a not especially good judgement call by the ref if it does not involve an unambiguous error where that judgement call could not be considered valid.
So I think it will come down to how Weeks explains to the commission why he stopped the fight. At least I think. It's possible that they overturn it but I definitely wouldn't count on it.
I wonder how the process went down for Jessie Vargas' petition to overturn the official decision in his fight with Timothy Bradley.
Good question.
Weeks can say the complainant (Kovalev) turned his back twice on the opponent, indicating that he wanted to quit. You never turn your back on an opponent in a boxing match. Protect yourself at all times. Kovalev wanted to take breaks but Weeks never allowed.
All equals a sore loser.
You Rigo haters are just some sorry sacks of shiiit.
Hating on the man just because his skin isn't white or his name doesn't sound like jokolvshinev

Oh, damn. I was hoping for a DQ.
:firedevil
They overturned the Rigo fight? When?
I know HBO brought the commissioner guy and he said that he will review the footage and if the shot was after the bell he would change it to a DQ. Roy and Max brought up the fact that both of them were throwing punches and the commissioner said that due to the rules in place he can only DQ the one whose punch landed. I guess we'll wait and see.

Am worried what what is going to happen to you guys after GGG loses. Lomachico (or what ever his name is)?! Can Loma carry Pac,Kovalev, and GGG fan base?
lol... :lol1:
Notice how many of them can't even handle coming on here? Maxi committed himself. AK's brains are splattered against his bedroom wall. They're not taking this one well...

Not @ 9-1. Salido ruined that with body shots.
