Was the best it's been for many, many years. Watching his previous fights it was frustrating to see him rely mainly on left-hooks and strong left-jabs. The right hand used to just be a bluff tbh, with Andre preferring to use it more up close with the body work. But tonight he landed some massive right hands and to me that was the biggest difference between this fight and the first. Kovalev and his team would not have been expecting it and ironically that is what lead to Kovalev's demise.
Ward appears to be naturally left handed and he also had surgery on his right shoulder so perhaps that's why he was so gun shy with it before. But now it seems to be back in his arsenal of weapons and I think it's only gonna give him added confidence moving forward.
Dude I was watching the fight with my cousin yelling "throw the right hand Dre"!
So many openings for him to do so this fight but he just doesn't do it consistently enough cause he's a lefty
Honestly, in his last five or so fights you'd be lucky to see five straight rights thrown combined. But tonight? I saw at least eight or above and most of them landed cleanly. The fact that he'd been beating guys without it just personifies how good the man really is.
He finally threw that fvcker with some consistency.
After he beat Kovalev the first time they called him a great one handed fighter

I remember haters here mocking his right hand endlessly. That's the kind of thing that makes it so effective. Kovalev would never expect Ward to LEAD with the right, that's such a hard thing to do against elite level guys, but the man did it. Then, slammed him when he had Kov softened up.
The left was just as crucial. I knew he'd be banging that left hook after Hunter talked about training for the KO.
